Hollong trees are native to Southeast Asia and parts of Northeast India (including Assam), winged seeds like these aren’t unique to them. Similar winged seeds, known as samaras, are produced by many tree species around the world — including maples and several other trees that use wind for seed dispersal.

Anežka Kašpárková was a Czech folk artist from the village of Louka who became famous for decorating buildings with intricate blue floral patterns inspired by traditional Moravian folk art. She painted the designs entirely by hand without using stencils and continued the work well into her 90s. Over several decades, her artwork transformed parts of the village into a living example of preserved folk tradition and craftsmanship.
