Just a quick sanity check to make sure I’m (42m) not being overly protective.

Over the past few months, I have heard comments from at least four people (both men and women) after seeing my 19 year old daughter, that she “certainly has her mother’s figure” or something along those lines.

I know they meant it as a compliment to my daughter (and likely her mom) but it seems an odd thing to say about a teenager.

Am I being an overprotective dad? Should I say something or let it go?

I (42m) dabble as a graphic artist, and have a variety of sketches around my home. One I’m particularly proud of is a figure study sketch I did of a female subject, an artistic nude. I have it hanging in my back hallway.

The unusual part is the model is my ex wife. She posed for me before we divorced three years ago. We are still on very good terms and she’s completely fine with me hanging the art at my place.

My question is whether this is a weird thing to have displayed while I’m dating new women? A couple of women have seen it and complimented the art, but I didn’t mention who the model is. It is starting to feel a bit unusual and odd.

Am I overthinking this? Is it fine, because it’s art?

I’ve (42m) been divorced for three years. I’ve been actively dating for about the last year, and my closest friend’s wife (call her Teri) recently set me up with one of her best friends (call her Mary).

Mary is actually a great woman and we’ve been seeing each other for about six weeks. Recently she shared that Teri often asks how things are going, and that they talk about a lot, including sexual details. Mary said that Teri has always loved girl talk and hearing dating details like that.

I don’t really mind, in a way it’s kind of flattering. But I wonder if I should draw a line since Teri is my friend’s wife learning this stuff about me?

I (42m) write erotica and have had some of my work published. I am very protective of my anonymity, however, as I want to keep this part of my writing career private (for now).

I remain on very good terms with my ex wife and she has always been very supportive of my career. She is actually the inspiration for one of my most popular characters and she gets a kick out of it.

She evidently mentioned this inspiration to her current boyfriend. I am friendly with him, and he mentioned to me over drinks that he’s aware I’m writing about her, and seemed to suggest that it would be better if I stopped doing so.

I don’t intend to change what I’m doing. But I feel I may need to clear the air with both of them, as this issue feels like it’s hanging over our interactions now.
