Body Recomp with HA

Hi y'all !

I (23F, 48-50kg/105-110lbs, 154cm/5'1) have hypothalamic amenorrhea and aim to body recomp.

I weight/strength/resistance train 4 times a week, 45min-1h, and walk 5k-10k most days. I would say I'm lean, with defined muscles, though I still hold a little fat here and there (primarily lower back and love handles).

I've been dealing with HA for over 10 months now, but I'm only starting a actual recovery now.

I consume 1600 cal on average, but I have to increase that number, both to grow muscles (especially glutes) and to get my periods back.

A NASM certified trainer said my maintenance is 1900cal, and advise of a small calorie surplus at 2200cal.

In the book "No period. Now what?", my daily intake is minimum 2250 cal for my height.

Now, I know it is advised not to workout while recovering, and that losing fat+gaining muscles is not possible (for the time being). But I'm determined to give it a try, and resistance training leaves me feeling really good.

I also know it's hard to recomp when you're petite because you need just the right amount of calories, and it can take very long.

Have any of you successfully managed to body recomp, with a calorie surplus and HA ?

I'm honestly a little afraid to gain fat in the process. I love how my body has changed in the last year but I can also feel a plateau. What would you advise me to do ?

Which should I buy ?

Hi y'all!

My phone's dying, and I've been wanting to go back to a Samsung phone. I'm buying refurbished for budget reasons, and found a few nice deals:

  • Galaxy S23 256gb 290€
  • Galaxy S23 FE 128gb 258€
  • Galaxy S23+ 256gb 305€
  • Galaxy S25 128gb 444€ / 460€
  • Galaxy S25 FE 128gb 385€
  • Galaxy S26 256gb 529€
  • Galaxy A57 128gb 300€

However, my budget is closer to 200-300€, so I'm not sure what to do.

Should I wait a little?
Will the prices eventually go down in the coming weeks?

I'm open to other suggestions, though I prefer Samsung phones.

No periods in over 10 months

Hi ya'll!

I'm (23, 154cm/5"1) making this post hoping to get some insight on my menstruation situation.

As the title says, I haven't bled in over 10 months, with no signs either (pain, bloating, puffiness, fatigue, swelling, arousal...). I still have vaginal discharge.

At the time, I had started a quite big calorie deficit for a few months. I eventually lost 5kg in about 5 months and went down to 45kg while weightlifting/strength training 4x/week.

Blood test (January) came out perfect, no deficiency or thyroid issue. FSH, LH, and estrogen levels are good. Had a scan done with no signs of PCOS or anything else, except that my endometrium is (of course) very thin.

Since December, I've been eating more (1600-1800cal, even 2000cal for a short time) and now weigh 48-50kg. I still weightlift/strength training for 45 minutes to 1 hour, 4 times a week. I don't do cardio except for walking (5000-10000 steps on average), and my diet is healthy and balanced.

Despite it all, my periods haven't come back. My doctor isn't too concerned and says stress could be the cause, but I haven't felt this stressless in so many years.

My diet is rich, varied, and balanced. I do consume healthy fats, most often eggs, dark chocolate, tofu, full-fat dairy, and fatty fish, sometimes avocados and seeds, but I definitely restrict the other ones.

I'm thinking of seeking a dietitian experienced with hormonal health / HA, and eventually trying Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

What are your thoughts on this? Is this just a matter of time?

Best refurbished phone under 300€ ?

Hi y'all!

My phone's slowly dying, so I'm actively searching for a new one with a good price-performance ratio.

I don't appreciate Apple's phones, so that's a pass. I'm okay with Xiaomi and Huawei, but if I can pass, that would be great.

I'm a little skeptical of the "lesser-known/common" brands (Honor, Oppo, Nothing, Realme, Motorola), but if you own one, I would like to hear about your experience with it.

Right now, I'm leaning towards Samsung, since it's a brand I have very good experiences with. I'm buying refurbished because it's a good mix of quality and price at once, maximum 300€ but if I can get something closer to 200€ that would be best. A few I've found:

  • Galaxy S23 : 284€
  • Galaxy S23 (256gb) : 290€
  • Galaxy S23+ (256gb) : 305€
  • Galaxy S23 FE : 273€ / 248€
  • Galaxy S22 : 225€
  • Galaxy A56 : 258€
  • Galaxy A57 (128gb) : 300€
  • Galaxy A54 : 184€-220€
  • Galaxy A37 : 250€

There is also Google Pixel, and I did find a Pixel 8 for 235€ and a Pixel 8a for 230€.

What I care most are the overall performance, camera quality second, and I'm fine with 128 GB of space.

Let me know what you think and if you have other suggestions !
