Should I get a Foldable Phone?

"My current phone, the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, unfortunately is breaking due to a manufacturing defect. So the store that it was bought from is offering a full refund.

Since I will be buying a new phone now I'm wondering if I should get the Google Pixel 10 Pro fold (I really like having a phone and tablet in one) or a Google pixel 10 pro XL, especially as a person who reads books all the time I think the folding screen is awesome.

Right now the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is on sale right now. You can buy it for 1,100 euros if you're buying it refurbished from Refurbed or Backmarket which is a great price in my opinion.

My friends are trying to convince me not to buy it. Everyone tells me the folding screen will break within one year.

Is that true? I'm usually the type of person who babies their phone. I put on a rugged case + screen protector and I never dropped my phone.

I'm very careful with my tech.

I'm currently a kinda broke college student, so I would not be able to afford fixing it if it breaks.

You might be asking, why am I buying such an expensive phone then?

The answer is I recieved my current phone as a gift and the pixel fold will be bought with the refund money from my current brocken phone.

The large folding screen would make my life so much easier for studying and multitasking.

But I don't know what to do.

Usually I keep my tech for 4-6 years.

How many years is Pixel 10 pro fold likely to last?

A normal slab phone can easily last 5 or 6 years, but what about a foldable phone?

At such a high price, I'd be expecting this phone to last at least five years. I could be wrong.

Please tell me, realistically, how long would I expect this phone to work for me before the internal folding screen breaks.

What weaknesses do these fold both phones have and what can I do to make it last for as long as possible?

I just want a high-quality device that will serve me for many years and will make things more convenient.

TLDR:

I want to buy Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, but everyone is saying that it will break very quickly and I'm told to get Google Pixel 10 Pro XL instead.

I really like the foldable phone, and it would make my life so much easier. But I'm scared that it will break within the first 1-2 years.

Help me choose my new phone

I’ve been using my OnePlus 6 since 2018 and honestly it’s still a beast. Even now I can run games like FC Mobile and other random games pretty smoothly, and the camera still holds up really well, especially for nature shots which I enjoy clicking a lot. Daily stuff like Instagram also runs fine, so overall it’s been a really solid phone for me.

But recently the problems have started showing properly. Battery life is pretty bad now, and the phone has started lagging and glitching a lot. Like I could be playing a game, get a call, and the whole phone just starts acting weird. On top of that, I’ve got the 128GB variant and storage is almost full, so it just feels like it’s reached its limit and I kinda need to upgrade now.

My budget is around ₹30–35K, and I would’ve honestly loved to go for the Nord 6, but it’s out of my budget right now. So I’m stuck between the OnePlus Nord 5 5G and the Nord CE6.

My usage is pretty simple — I do a decent amount of gaming (mainly FC Mobile and some casual games), I use Instagram daily, and I like clicking photos, mostly nature shots. I also want a smooth experience overall without random lag, and good battery life is a big priority for me now.

The main thing confusing me is that the Nord CE6 is expected to come with an older/weaker chipset compared to the Nord 5, while the Nord 5 has a much more powerful Snapdragon 8 series chip which seems way more future-proof and better for gaming and long-term use . Since I’m planning to use the phone for at least 3–4 years, I don’t want to regret going for a weaker device just to save some money.

OnePlus

At the same time, the CE series is more budget-friendly, so I’m wondering if it’s “good enough” for my usage or if I should just stretch my budget for better performance.

Also one more thing — I would really love to get the newer OxygenOS / ColorOS 16 experience because features like Fluid Cloud and the frosted glass UI style look really clean and smooth, and that overall UI feel matters to me a lot too.

So yeah, I’m basically confused whether I should go for the Nord 5 for better performance and longevity, or save money and go for the Nord CE6 and compromise a bit. Also open to other suggestions around ₹30–35K.

iPhone 13 Battery Replacement vs. Upgrade

Hello! First timer here. Posting to get insights on my current situation; obligatory 'long post, tldr at bottom' disclaimer.

I've had an iPhone 13 since December 2021. Absolutely adore that phone––it works great, it's the perfect size and weight for me, and never had an issue with it. Over time, the battery naturally began to degrade, so I got it replaced for the first time in September 2025. However, it's been six months since then and my phone has absolutely nuked itself, which only really started once the new year rolled around when I accidentally updated to iOS 26. I had held off because I didn't want to get rid of iOS 18 after hearing so many complaints about the functionality and the impact 26 had on older models' battery and efficiency. It's almost ridiculous how quickly my battery gave out after that. In the span of three days last week, the max charge went from 50% to 32%. The problems were ceaseless: sending one text made my battery drop by at least 3% every time; a phone call would chew through 10% like it was a death row meal; my phone would overheat to the point of shutting down with the legit temperature warning when I tried to charge it; and so on. It got to the point where the front screen is now popping out, and if I pressed too hard on the screen, there would be a clicking sound and my battery's percentage would drop exponentially. Both my friends and family got concerned when I complained about all of this to them and asked me to stop using it for fear that the battery would legit blow up. Currently, I'm using an iPhone 11 my friend had stored away so I can decide what to do with my 13.

My thoughts right now are mixed. I want to keep that phone for as long as I can; it was my first ever purchase as an independent adult, so it's got great sentimental value, I again really like the size and weight, I'm almost pathetically attached to the color (red) and I want to try to reduce my e-waste as I'm concerned about the environment and ethics of consumption. I don't care for the new Apple AI nonsense, I don't care about any of the fancy camera grades or whatever, and the new colors are lowkey wack except for the 16's teal. This 11 that I'm borrowing is so phenomenal, too, and works really well with the iOS 26 software it's running, so I don't see why my 13 can't tough it out a little longer. Lastly, I'm also a pretty poor grad student, so dropping a billion dollars on a new iPhone isn't exactly in my list of 'things I want to do,' especially since I would have to pay more in my current country of residence as compared to back home in the US (~20% increase).

However, I also don't want to keep spending money replacing batteries if this rapid degradation issue that crops back up with every new OS update or anything; that money does still add up eventually, and it already cost me ~60USD for the first battery replacement. I tend to use my phone for literally everything, so my friends and relatives who work in tech are telling me that it's totally reasonable to get a new phone every 4 to 5 years. My mom is being really kind and offered to help me make the monthly payments for my phone, since she helps my sister with hers, so I'd personally only pay about 5 to 10€ (6 to 11USD) per month. Finally, I'm worried that the underlying issue with my 13 is actually water damage because I used to bring my phone into the bathroom for music while I showered and would therefore expose it to a lot of steam. I know water damage can really harm battery health, even if I didn't adhere to that knowledge, and I don't want to keep replacing a phone that's doomed to fail because it's been janked up by water damage. Many thoughts in my head.

TL;DR: My iPhone 13's first replacement battery is officially cooked. I don't know if I should keep replacing the battery, or if I should just get a new phone. If I do get a new phone, I'm not sure if I should get the 16 Plus with 256GB or the regular 17. Any thoughts or insights would be great, and I can answer any questions if needed, too. My fault for yapping

Upgrade from 14plus to 17

I’ve had my iPhone 14 Plus for almost three years now, and it’s been a great introduction to iOS. However, I’m constantly hitting the limit of my 128GB storage, so it’s time for an upgrade.I prefer buying directly from the Apple Store, but I’ve noticed they’ve discontinued several models between the 14 and the current lineup. I want this upgrade to feel "worth it," but the 17 Pro Max is a bit out of my budget. Would the standard iPhone 17 be a significant enough jump from the 14 Plus, or should I be looking at other options?

Why do rugged phones always look insane? 😂

Every time I search one, it looks like a transformer with 3 flashlights and a battery that can power a village.

But honestly… kinda tempting.

Anyone using one as a daily phone? Is it annoying carrying that much weight or you get used to it?

Smart Phone Recommendation

Looking for a midrange phone (preferably around ₱15–20K but maybe can extend up to 25k) with 6000mAh above battery, 70W above charging , good camera with OIS, and 4K60fps rear camera and 4K60fps selfie camera and also 8/256 GB above — especially strong in both rear and selfie, prioritizing camera and battery performance over chipset performance.

why do phones start feeling slow after like 1 to 2 years even if you don’t install much?

i don’t really overload my phone with apps and i try to keep storage free, but after around a year or two it just doesn’t feel as smooth anymore. little delays, apps taking longer to open, small stutters here and there. nothing broken, just not as snappy as it used to be. is this just software updates getting heavier over time or is there something people usually miss like settings or maintenance that helps keep it fast longer?

What color is your current phone?

What color is your current phone?

I'm currently rocking my almost 4 year old Obsidian (black) Pixel 7 with a Navy Blue case. I'm looking to upgrade to the Pixel 10 Pro XL later this month. I'm debating on either getting the Moonstone or the Obsidian color though. We'll see.

Switch to Oneplus 15 or the Iphone 15 pro

Hey everyone I could really use some advice right now.

I've been using the pixel 8 pro for some time but I cracked the screen so bad that the display goes white whenever the brightness is too high, so I've been looking for a new phone.

I narrowed the options down to the Oneplus 15 and the iphone 15 pro as they are within my budget. I've always been curious about switching to ios and thought I might give it a try but the oneplus is just so tempting.

The battery is really good and the cameras aren't as bad as most reviewers say, my only problem is that i want to get a smaller phone which the iphone gets right, but I'm rethinking my decision of getting the iphone as the oneplus is a great phone and I can also download anything from chrome as I also use readvanced youtube.

So please let me know what i should get because i feel like i need more opinions as most of my friends say i should get the iphone instead of the oneplus. Thanks!
