Anybody else get hot flashes when they're on their period?

Or just in general I guess? I've heard they're associated with menopause but I've gotten them since I was a teenager, and obviously I haven't gone through menopause in the like 14 years since my periods began!

They (both the periods AND the hot flashes) stopped for a few years when I got put on testosterone but they're (both again) suddenly back which sucks. Just wondering how common this is. There's only a little info I could easily find that WASN'T related to menopause.

"Free bleeding"?

I came across this topic in a facebook moms group recently and I am confused.

In the group, a few ladies were discussing how free bleeding has significantly reduced their flow. Is this true? I primarly use tampons during the day and then use pads at night. What is the difference between free bleeding and using pads? lol it's the same concept, no? The only difference with the pads would be you have protection? So how does free bleeding reduce your flow?

Light periods 2 months in a row !! Help plz

Not sexually active 23 Female . I usually have heavy periods that I fully bleed for the full 5-6 days but last months period ( 8 march ) was late for a couple days and started slow and i was spotting before it flowed completely but still lighter then what I’m used to , fast forward to this month i was hoping for my normal period AGAIN late for 2 days , then spotted for those two days (brown discharge) then my period started but very slowly not full flow even , Im really paranoid , i went to a gynecologist when my first period was light on the second dqy of that period she ran tests even an hcg test ?!!!! even tho im a virgin everything was normal hcg was negative <2.3 , my hormones where all within normal range , we also did an ultrasound no cysts nothing my overis where normal, Only thing i noticed is these two months I haven’t been moving at all , I just graduated and currently unemployed so im not moving like I used to in uni , most of the time in bed . Google scares me it ties everything with pregnancy and bleeding in early pregnancy. Even the gyno scared me when she asked for an hcg test like is that the only reason? But she said its normal to have a light period but im starting to think what if something happened to my in my sleep or i forgot ?😭

Am I the only one who thinks some guys are judgemental when it comes to periods?

I am making this post because there was this one dude online, who was harassing me or whatever you call it. He was assuming that I am on my period because I either act bitchy, angry, grumpy, or even get emotional. Which is so unfair. Like am I not allowed to express my feelings? Or even have them? Sorry, but I am just so fed up with guys harassing women like this when it comes to periods. Like why can't they be more open-minded and understanding rather than just being ignorant? Not all women who get irritated easily are on their periods. Guys should not be making fun of women for going through something natural. It's not funny. it's childish, demeaning, and insensitive. And for those who are wondering which guy I was talking to, I forgot because I already blocked him. I don't know his username, but all I know is he's a creep. This is why I rarely talk to guys and prefer to talk to women.

black blood?

hi guys, ive spent my whole adolescence(11-19) on birth control due to painful periods, but ive come off of it since november because im so sick and tired of the side effects..

my periods since then have been normal until now!! im day 4 of my period, the blood is BLACK and a bit brown, but mainly black!! and its not as heavy as usual either! im used to changing pads every half an hour but the past few days have been cheap on my wallet as ive not had to buy as many!!

does anyone know why the blood may be black? should i be concerned that my flow isn’t as heavy as usual?

should i stay as panicked as i am? 😹😹

No sex but missed period

I’m looking for some advice or reassurance about my period.

The last time I had sex was in June 2024, and it was unprotected. After that, I had a pregnancy scare and ended up missing my period in August. I took a blood test, which came back negative, and my doctor prescribed birth control pills to induce my period. It worked, and since then my cycle has been regular every month.

However, I missed my period this March. I haven’t had sex since June 2024—only other sexual activities, and I’ve been careful to avoid any contact with sperm.

I took a pregnancy test last Friday and it was negative. I also don’t have any pregnancy symptoms like nausea.

That said, I’ve been really stressed lately and had a few emotional breakdowns in March due to work.

Is it normal to miss a period because of stress, even if my cycle has been regular for months? Should I be concerned, or is this something that can happen occasionally? My last period was from 20-26th Feb, I’m currently 9 days late.

Would really appreciate any advice or similar experiences. Thank you!

What pads use period ( first period)?

I just got my first period. Do you have a good brand of sanitary pads to recommend that are absorbent and comfortable?

Questions about reusable pads

For context, I’m on my period a LOT. Like 2-3 cycles a month. I know that isn’t normal but doctors haven’t figured out why yet. However, because of this, I’m wearing a lot of pads. I used winged pads since they stay in place a lot better for me. But they rub on the inside of my thigh/cooter area and give me painful red bumps. The cost also adds up quick and they aren’t good for the environment. I want to switch to cloth pads but had a few questions before I make the switch.

  1. Do they chafe less on the inner thigh/where the thigh meets the bikini area?

  2. What material is the best for reusable pads?

  3. How often should I change them? Is it the same as with disposable pads?

  4. Do they smell worse than disposable pads when used?

  5. How many do you wear before you wash them? How long do you let them sit before washing them?

  6. Are they more comfortable overall?

  7. What brands do you recommend if you use them regularly?

  8. How long before they need to be replaced by new reusable pads?

Thank you to anyone who answers, it’s kind of been tough just because of how uncomfortable and expensive they are.

My last period was two months ago.

I am 28. No chance of being pregnant. A possible chance of stress causing menstural delay (a cross country move that keeps getting annoyingly delayed since March 1st though I have been more sad over it than actually mentally stressed) and I've had two moments over the last 60 days where I had spotting / strings of blood when wiping. Never any actual blood and both those two times were a one day thing each and about 3 weeks apart.

No health issues. Very healthy diet and active. No medications no supplements. I drink peppermint tea literally everyday and coffee that's it.

How long before this becomes a worry as someone who has had a regular cycle always?

How to induce your period after yuzpe?

Is there a way to induce your period if you're delay because of yuzpe method???

STORY:

March 25, 9 PM and March 26, 9 AM - I did the Yuzpe(4&4). Because on March 25, my SO and I did it, but we used a condom. But we messed up putting the condom on, so we flipped it around to fix it. It was the second round, so there might have been some semen left (huhud idk?). So after flipping it, we wiped it with a tissue. Totally dry, I even licked it and put it in my mouth HAHAHAH, and since it was dry, we just used lube. BTW, when he's about to cum, even with a condom, he pulls out right away. It's like the pull-out method, but with a condom.

and my only side effects during taking the yuzpe is I feel like I'm having a acid reflux.

My last period was March 6-11. We did it on March 25.

so, idk if it was during my fertile window or if my fertile window was already over since on March 25, my vag was dry and I didn't have any fertility symptoms like what I usually experience. That's why we used lube (I hope the yuzpe worked and that there really wasn't any semen on the condom).

BTW, idk if this is my period. I bled after 6 days of doing the yuzpe (April 2). It seemed like my normal period because on the 1st day there were blood clots/jelly-like stuff. The only difference was that it was lighter on the second day, but the flow was okay on the 3rd-4th day and 5th day is brown discharge. Flo said my period is on April 7, so if this is my period, it's 5 days early.

and i have no symptoms such as bloated, lower back pain lower abdomen pain. but in the 3rd and 5th day bleeding im slightly dizzy

IF IT'S NOT my real period, my expected period base on my calendar is april7 and im regular. if it going to be delay because of yuzpe how can i Induce it? also to fix my cycle. THANK YOU

Yuzpe concern

my questions:

  1. How do you tell the difference between withdrawal bleeding and a period?

  2. How long after withdrawal bleeding will my real period come?

  3. How likely is it that I could get pregnant from what we did?

  4. Can yuzpe work even before/during/after fertility window?

I hope I can get some help/answers. Thank you!

Why is my blood whiter than normal?

My concern is basically what the title says, my blood is diluted with some white substance that I assume is discharge but that doesn’t seem like the root of it because my discharge has never mixed with my blood this noticeably before.

If you‘ve noticed this yourself, what ended up being the issue? thanks.

Should I be concerned?

Hi! I rarely post on reddit but I wanted to ask some advice/see if anyone had a similar issue.

Years ago, when I (22F) got the COVID vaccine years ago, I remember I didn't get my period at all. I think it may have been about a year give or take? I finally got one that was REALLY heavy.

Around when it finally came back, I got another vaccine or booster shot or whatever it was (sorry for my vagueness) and it disappeared AGAIN for awhile. I don't even remember how long until it came back, but it had been awhile. Again super heavy and all that.

I read around and I heard that this was somewhat normal, that it had happened to a lot of women. However it just seemed to less intense for the other ladies since they only skipped one or two periods from what I saw.

I ended up asking my doctor about a year ago, when I actually had insurance. She said it was probably no biggie since it was seen as normal, and I should be okay as long as I eventually get periods.

I had pretty irregular periods from then on, and I am JUST NOW having them regularly, with some cramping...

however I have pretty bad health anxiety especially recently. I'm wondering if anyone had a similar experience and if they're okay now? I would get my first pap but I cannot afford it rn :(

What do you do for heavy period flow?

My periods keep getting heavier and heavier. They're fairly regular, mind, with a day or two of a each other cycle to cycle. I'm at the point where I'm wearing 3 of the largest pads I can find (Always maxi overnights with wings and everything) at the same time in different orientations and still overflowing if I'm not changing them sometimes as often as every hour. Are there pads that are bigger and/or more absorbent? How does period underwear work and where do you find credible ones? I see talk of that but haven't seen any in my local stores where I find my pads. Do post partum pads work on period blood and are they bigger and/or more absorbent, and if so, where do I find them?

Note, not looking for anything that's inserted like tampons or menstration cups as I'm simply not comfortable with inserting anything.

Also, I'm in the US with no healthcare, so an OBGYN isn't an option for these questions...

Anyone else randomly break out into a song the day before their period?

Weird, I know!

But I swear it's true. I'm prone to low moods and thus don't normally sing. My pre-period moods are terrible. But the day before I get my period (actually, it's usually in the evening), right as clockwork, I find myself singing, with excellent pitch, and a nice voice too. People perk their ears up and are shocked I of all people can sing. My out-of-period singing is nice if I try, but not as nice as the pre-period singing.

It doesn't happen every period, but if it happens, I bleed the next day.

Heard myself sing today, which I haven't done since my December period. Bets It'll be here within 24 hours (my cycles are anywhere between 24 and 30 days usually, so while I'm due soon, I wouldn't know for sure how soon).

I'm really curious if it's going to happen again now, and if it happens to other people too, and if anyone has an explanation as to why it happens.
