I want to download all the videos from HKSV... but apparently they're only accessible one at a time in the viewer itself???

So it looks like I'll be ordering virtually ANY other camera than HKSV Eve cameras.... and definitely not from any other giant corp.... just a bare-metal ONVIF camera and using Frigate NVR to manage.

Does anyone have a way to rip video from HomeKit??

u/CallEmAsISeeEm1986 — 1 day ago

Is there a way to download ALL videos from HKSV at once? [eg: "Drag and drop" from a file. "Select All."]

I have days of video I want to save, and continuous / ongoing recording that I want to save. Yet the only way I've found to save Apple HomeKit Secure Video is by the Share function?! Really?! For one video, that's a clutch feature. But WHY can I not access all the files in a way that lets me drag and drop them? Or "select all".... ANYTHING but a multi-step process to save to iPhoto [which isn't even their final destination.... ]

Is there an Automator work flow that someone has developed?? [I tried messing with it for this, no luck so far... Seems like Automator doesn't have HomeKit support...]

Please help! This is so time consuming!

Mac Pro [2019 Intel] and MBP [2021 M1]. I am finally getting around to setting up my dual monitor situation and am starting to research KVMs. The monitors and audio seem easy enough. What are people doing for their Mac mice and keyboards? Can these be tagged to a generic dongle on a KVM?

Basically the title. I want to streamline my desk as much as possible... meaning I'd very much prefer to have a single keyboard and mouse that work for both machines without having to pair / unpair them in system settings [definitely simpler to just keep two separate sets at that point].

I suppose the Intel / Apple Silicon issue might be a deal breaker, unless the newer keyboard is backwards compatible. [Will check this shortly and post an update.]

I guess I'm wondering a couple of things:

_ Is there a KVM setup Mac people tend to prefer?

_ Can the "magic" mice and keyboards tag to a generic bluetooth dongle stuck into a USB-A port on a KVM?

[Pic for attention.]

Duel Monitors _ Two computers _ Is it possible to switch between computers without moving cables around?

I have a newer MacBook Pro [primary, M1 apple silicon] and a 2019 Mac Pro [intel] at my work station. Right now, each one has its own monitor.

I would like to be able to have each one set up as a duel monitor set up, but I can't have 4 monitors at my desk, and I'd much prefer not to switch back and forth by moving cables around.

Is there a USB hub that would allow both computers to stay hooked up to both computers, and then simply switch between the machines with software.... or something??

Thanks!

Seeking amp advice: Yamaha Natural Sound 810 vs the YNS 2010.

So.... I have a mid-range hi-fi setup that has been sitting in pieces for a couple of years that I need to put together. I started buying components without really doing the work to educate myself... so I have a couple of "Connect-The-Dots" type questions....

[The main hold up on assembly is my space; I need to build a proper A/V rack for my
gear, which I'm getting ready to do. The TT is disassembled as well for some
repair work and a cerekote job; should look sweet when it's done.]

One missing component is a subwoofer. I know it might be heresy, but I listen to a
lot of modern electronic / bass heavy stuff for fun, and I'd like to be able to
push a decent sub.

Also, an additional heresy [for audiophiles anyway]: I'd like this system to double as my TV speakers, if possible. I don't plan on installing surround sound, as this is a rental and I don't have the space... but it'd be nice to watch movies with better-than-TV-speakers... even if its not Dolby 5.1 or whatever. [Eventually, surround sound would be sweet; so advice on future-proofing for that would be welcome.]

Specs:

_ Harbeth Super HL5 _

  • Type: 3 way, 3 driver loudspeaker system
  • Frequency Response : 40 Hz - 24kHz
  • Power Handling : 150W
  • Recommended Amp : 25 - 150W
  • Impedance : 8 ohms
  • Sensitivity : 86 dB
  • Bass : 1 x 200 mm Polymeric Composite Cone
  • Tweeter : 1 x 25 mm aluminum dome
  • Super Tweeter : 1 x 20 mm titanium dome

_ Yamaha Natural Sound _ CA-810

  • Power Output : 65 watts per channel into 8 ohms
  • Frequency Response : 10 Hz to 100 kHz
  • Total harmonic distortion:                  0.05%
  • Damping factor:                                 30
  • Input sensitivity:                                  0.6mV (MC), 2.5mV (MM), 150mV (line)
  • Signal to noise ratio:                           73dB (MC), 83dB (MM), 100dB (line)
  • Channel separation:                           55dB (line)
  • Output:                                                 150mV (line), 1V (Pre out)
  • Dimensions:                                         435 x 337 x 160mm
  • Weight:                                                12kg

_ Yamaha Natural Sound _ CA-2010

  • Power output:                                     120 watts per channel into 8Ω (stereo)
  • Frequency response:                         5Hz to 50kHz
  • Total harmonic distortion:                 0.005%
  • Damping factor:                                 45
  • Input sensitivity:                                  0.5mV (MC), 2mV (MM), 120mV (line)
  • Signal to noise ratio:                           71dB (MC), 82dB (MM), 100dB (line)
  • Output:                                                120mV (line), 1V (Pre out)
  • Dimensions:                                        461 x 360 x 170mm
  • Weight:                                               21kg

SO... to sum up:

  • Should I snag the 2010, sight unseen on the 810... compare them, then sell the one I don't need?

  • As far as I can tell, on paper at least, it looks like the 810 is going to push the Harbeths just fine. So it's easily possible that I am over thinking this? Please advise!

  • Maybe the deciding factor on the Amp is the subwoofer?? Would the 810 have enough juice to push the Harbeths AND a sub? Should I get a powered sub??

  • I've seen that REL is highly recommended [?] for subs? Is that true?

  • Can vintage audio gear handle modern TV inputs?

  • Is that where a "DAC" comes in?

  • Please don't tell me I need an entirely new A/V amp... but do tell me if it's a fact, just ...break it to me gently.

Budget is somewhat of a factor...

_ 810 _ paid $ 410

_ 2010 _ $ 1200 [ net $ 800 if I can sell the 810 for what I paid, approximately,
so it's definitely doable.]

[Side note: this is a photo from the internet, my Harbeths are lighter finish.]

[additional side note: This is going to be part of a larger entertainment stack... I have the YNS CT-800 tuner, and the YNS TC-5115 Cassette Deck... I have a converter for old gaming consoles so I
can play NES, SNES, N64, Sega, etc. Eventually I'll want to be able to stream from my phone, just variety's sake.

Also, of all crazy things, I have a Modular Component System CRT TV tuner /
recorder... it has a tiny CRT TV in it so you can tune into a specific channel,
send the audio to your cassette or reel-to-reel [?] for recording TV audio. I
doubt this will ever be used, but it's cool to have.]

[Additional, additional side note: I got a warning about posting this on r / audiophile, so I'm reposting it here for additional response and for the fact that the other post might be removed. ]

[To avoid the bot filter: Location, Colorado, USA, Earth, Milky Way Galaxy, The Universe, This Timeline.]

Looking for advice... I have a disassembled stack... Technics MK3D turn table, YNS CA-810 amp, and Harbeth Super HL5s. Unfortunately / Fortunately There is a Yamaha Natural Sound CA-2010 available near me for $1,200. I haven't even listened to the 810... [more in the body / pic for attention]

Battery recovery.

The Odyssey Extreme batteries are kind of expensive so I’d rather try to recover them than recycle them.

The truck they were in must have some sort of slight short circuit that slowly bleeds them dry.

The Genius 5 is supposed to be a miracle worker, but so far, no dice.

I have used the repair mode several times. And left the unit “charging” multiple times (24+ hours)…

I guess it’s safe to assume these are toast?

(At least the first one; haven’t don’t anything with the second yet, but I’m not optimistic.)

(I’m in the screenshot… woot!)

From a post speculating about how many fans have fallen from ceilings because they were attached to nothing but drywall.

Someone made a joke about using the fan to push itself up into the ceiling.

It falls to me, to make it fall to *you* fine folks to figure out how fast a typical ceiling fan would have to go in order to stay pressed up to the ceiling. 😁

I am wondering anyone here has experience with these?? And can possibly give me feedback on these units / their usefulness in an exterior fire suppression system. [CO USA]

Edit... forgot to mention the key point... : The righthand nozzle is a fogger. That's the nozzle I'm mainly interested in...

Edit 2 ... the more I think about it, the more I think a heavy duty lawn sprinkler system might be appropriate than these units... something like a small agricultural sprinkler, that pivots and resets to start its sweep again.

Thanks!

Basically the title. it's on the tip of my tongue. Not sure why I can't just forget it... I'm like 99% sure this website is defunct. But it's like an itch you can't quite reach... more annoying than anything.

It was a mostly text based site operated in the early 2000s. I believe the premise was that people could organize their useful URLs privately and as a social media kind of experience? Like, the cloud tag around a URL would build up, allowing it to become more relevant as more people used that term...? Or something...??

I believe it started with a D. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Help me Reddit-won Kenobi, you're my only hope.

Basically the title. Am I dumb? Seems to be reading the card properly... So I haven't pulled it, blown on it and reinstalled... like an old Nintendo cart.... but that's my next step I think. Unless you have better ideas.
