Is there a guide for KoReader for the Kindle Keyboard?

I have KoReader installed on my K3W but the UI is sluggish compared to the Kindle native framework. SimpleUI can cause it to hang and I need to cold start the Kindle. Are there any guides that best retain a balance of function and format for the Kindle keyboard?

Thank you for any pointers!

Kindle Unlimited and Audible Books

I have such a backlog on Audible books that I am suspending my account until I get through the backlog. But I will still have access to Kindle Unlimited, so will I be able to buy the Audible book at a KU discount even though I have suspended my Audible?

I just want to leave the option open that there may be a Kindle book that I will also find a good narration on Audible. That option would also free me to listen to my book while I am puttering around.

Any similar experience here? Thanks!🙏🏼

Oasis 3 Playing Choppy Audible

All in all, I love the feel of my recent Oasis 3 purchase. But where I have both the Audible and Kindle versions of the book, for all books, the Audible version plays fine as long as it is at 1X speed. If I try to speed it up to only 1.25X, the audio starts to stutter and sounds choppy. This has happened to two of three Audible books that I have downloaded to my Oasis. For some reason, one of the Audible books plays fine even at 1.5X.

Can anyone suggest a fix to this? I can’t determine if it’s the audio quality of the downloaded versions (they were all USB side-loaded because the over-the-air downloading was stalling). Maybe there’s a way to change the audio quality before download (via the browser)? Otherwise, I will be happy just reading the Kindle version and leaving the Audible to my phone/tablet.

Thanks for any tips.

ADHD Executive Function Hacks

I'm reading Caroline Singer's book "The Complete ADHD Guide for Adults" which contains a subsection called "365 Executive Functioning Hacks for Adult ADHD". There are a few that resonated with me and I wanted to pass them along, if this might help you. I've been an organizational/clutter mess and this has always been a recurring problem for me.

These few mind shifts have really made a difference because I have given myself permission to only focus on doing relatively small things for short periods. Some progress is always better than no progress and gives me momentum. This alone prevented me from procrastinating until I felt motivated to do the whole thing.

  1. Leave Each Space Looking Better than when you found it.
  2. If it can be done in under 2 minutes, do it now. (from the Getting Things Done method)
  3. Commit to doing something you have intended to do for just 5 minutes. Set a timer and then begin.

For me, the key shift that allowed me to get going was to focus on small successes/quick wins that were going to be enough. If I focused on something small enough, the dreaded load of having to do it all at once was gone. Not that the Clean The Garage project is going to be done quickly, but I don't need to feel obligated accomplish it all at once.

Happy to discuss.

Can I get one extra-large wiener and one very small one to go?

Hi All: I've been doing some research for our next bed. We are coming from an older Select Comfort system that is running too hot for us here in FL. So we are looking for the best natural cooling mattress that would replace both the plastic bed-frame and the non-breathable bladder system it is based on. These are the few that have floated up to the top with a hybrid (latex preferred but not must), split king mattress system.

  • DreamCloud
  • Helix Sleep
  • Naturepedic
  • Avocado
  • Winkbeds
  • GhostBed
  • Saatva
  • Puffy
  • Brooklyn Bedding
  • Select Comfort (but they are at the very top end of our budget)

Honestly the choices are making our head spin. To start: Are there any on this list that you recommend we stay AWAY from? Thank you, all!

Just got this today and I'm amazed with the look and feel of this Kindle. Very premium and those awesome Fwd/Reverse buttons are so welcome. 😁
Even though Amazon decided to abandon the premium feel of this aluminum body to a plastic body and touch only, I still think some people would splurge for this model, especially if they fixed the battery and micro USB issues.

So I've a jail-broken my old Kindle K3W and have installed KUAL and KoReader. I am also using Calibre to sideload my titles. But I'm not clear on the wireless function. When I first wiped and jailbroke my Kindle (I'm on the 3rd time now), I connected to my wireless network and got a notification from Amazon that said that this was not a test Kindle and that I was unable to run the script that starts KUAL. So I had to restart the jailbreak from scratch to enable that function.

But I also want to use Calibre to wirelessly connect that server to my client, but wouldn't that enable the wireless to send my KW3 information back to Amazon and break my jailbreak? I'm not sure what I need to do to keep the wireless on for Calibre but disable the Amazon connection.

Any tips, sequencing steps, etc.? Thank you!

If you are looking for a set of 10x43 ED binoculars that are >!well-reviewed!<, there is a pair of used Pentax DCF ED Binoculars on the Unclaimed Baggage site that are about 60% off a set of new ones. I had these in my cart this morning until I realized that they did not specify the magnification, so I checked with their customer service and verified 10x43.

These are regarded as alpha class bins and I really would have loved that they had been 8x43s for that price. But I have a set of 10x42s that are close enough to make these another “why do you need another set?” purchase. I’ve not purchased from this site yet, but was recommended by others who’ve gotten found/abandoned electronics (and other stuff) from this site so am passing this along to any of you bargain hunters out there.

Got my Kindle Color Soft Signature with a Moko Magnetic Case that I could charge with (and through) a MagSafe charger I had as well as a portable magnetic stand that I would when traveling. The Resptasski A/B Page turner I posted about earlier also works well and through the case (although) the Back pager turner was harder to attach because of the case cover hinge.

It’s definitely smaller than I was expecting and the lack of any buttons except the power button made it a bit confusing compared to all my Kindle Keyboard physical buttons.

The color renditions of my Sandman Graphic novels has been underwhelming because of the lack of contrast—very hard to read especially because the wording may not be black on white. The contrast and saturation of these same books on my iPad has spoiled me but I can deal with the Marvel Comics that have more contrast to the artwork.

One of my biggest happy discoveries is that I can both listen to my Audible copies of the Kindle book if I own both. I was not aware the an Audible book could be played back on the Kindle (with a Bluetooth headset only). I’ve used the new Read and Listen on my iPhone’s Audible App and I thought I’d need both Kindle + iPhone to (sort of) continue that. But that’s not fully available: The only thing the Kindle+Audible won’t do is do what Assistive reader (or Read and Listen) will do: highlight the book and turn the page as it is being read. You can minimize the Audible reading to view the Kindle text but it will be me turning the page when I need to.

Still, I am very happy with this blending as it is and it’s something that I can work with.

Another very nice new feature is the double tap option that you can turn on to tap twice on the back of the Kindle to turn a page.

Thank you for all the great comments leading up to this new Kindle! 🙌🏼🙏🏼.
