Maybe I wouldn't be "one of those extremist vegans" to the point of avoiding any, even minimal, contact with carnists outside of work/education-related and such (although education is also a separate topic. DAE have teachers that feel compelled to show pictures of asado or something and talk about how much they love fishing and how wholesome and fun it is every lesson?), if at the very least they were capable of not bringing up how much they love meat, how proud they are of eating a "healthy" diet, how much "fun" "social" events focused solely on meat are and such, sharing pics of how "appetizing" it looks as a part of their personality, etc etc like every five minutes. Similarly to alcohol addicts whining that non-drinkers are boring killjoy weirdos, yet being *entirely incapable* of connecting to others if alcohol is not included. Thankfully I am blessed to have a vegan husband, and to have no desire for friendships, but some of those people just don't take a hint when it comes to the latter, or even the former (like, okay, I'm glad you'll go easier on hitting on me out of respect my monogamy, but it's not the reason I wouldn't look at you even if I was single...). And that's all doubly hilarious considering that the "preachy vegan" trope they invented... is literally projection.
