I'd like to learn more about Asian horror.

I really love those environmental scenarios that recall certain places from the early 90s/2000s.

After so many years, I finally decided to watch Sam Raimi's Darkman for the first time, and... I'm speechless.

Crude, but in its imperfection, it proved to be such an intense and interesting film that I understand why it became a cult classic.

It's clear that Darkman is the prototype for what would later become Spider-Man in 2002, but let me be clear: I don't want to use the term "prototype" as a derogatory term or a way to belittle Darkman, because precisely because of its crude and weird nature, I consider it a wonderful gem.

The ending was the icing on the cake, where Peyton, aware that she could hurt Julie (due to Peyton's heightened emotions and involuntarily falling into fits of rage), abandons her, giving her the chance to live a second life.

A narrative choice as sad as it is courageous.

"I'm everyone and no one.

Everywhere, nowhere.

Call me... Darkman."

Can knowing an author's past influence the way they write a story?

In this case, if you read O'Barr's background, you discover that his girlfriend died in a car accident, and, feeling guilty for her death, he decides to create The Crow.

The heartbreaking thing is how the protagonist's thoughts about Shelley are simply a way for O'Barr to unload his thoughts and demonstrate how much he grieves for the very real loss he experienced.

James, as usual, took a virtually unknown character and turned him into something huge and incredible, and I’ll always be grateful to him for how he crafted Rocket’s entire story in GoG 3❤️
