This is probably a sentiment that's been expressed several times here already but I just finished season one and aaaaaaaaaaaa
I'm not sure if she fits better as a bisexual allegory or something but through my lesbian lens they have a character that hasn't been able to come out until it was protecting Wednesday. Her parents want her to go to conversion therapy, she expresses being a disappointment to her traditional family, she's at risk of being outcast by her family that's already pretty obviously queer. She's had relationships with boys but never wolfed out but then Wednesday comes along and although there's a lot of conflict she cares a lot for her. Her whole lone wolf thing parallels Wednesday's alone forever thing and a queer relationship would be something that would break away from tradition and being under the influence of a man in Wednesday's case. Like I can buy Wednesday as having a crush on Tyler (even though both her love interests had boring mannerisms honestly they should've camped them up a bit like have a bit of the crazy he had after he was revealed just a bit less murdery) but Enid and Ajax seems off. She's eager obviously but it feels a bit more like an idea in her head rather than actual chemistry. Thematically it's more appropriate if they have a queer destiny too even if it's doomed. Enid as an Addams too would fit right in as well, I get they're supposed to be opposites but even though she's a peppy girl she's still eccentric and blunt, just an opposite aesthetic and understands social rules more.
Then there's a lot of their interactions as well like ok I guess that could be kinda besties until you add their parallels and wish to be different in destiny. She's just a lot more thoughtful than the guys like they did a picnic and a phone but it doesn't feel like there's was much sweetness outside of that. Enid has planned multiple things and handmade her a gift, personally I value handmade gifts over expensive ones so I'm a bit biased but that seems way cuter. I know people make things for friends and being enthusiastic and above and beyond is just what Enid does but it's so much more appealing than the boys. Then she also goes you're right that's just who I am and we work together and even though she's off putting she finds Wednesday appealing. It just feels like they're wasting something that'd be so cute and powerful. They can't seriously look at how they wrote Enid's arc and go yup not queer at all. As for why it feels more lesbian to me than bi I know that bi people are still discriminated and they're still not het but there's still a way of disguising it in a way? I used to wish I was bi so I could eventually find the right man even though I liked women because that's what would cause less conflict with my family. Not having the norm as an option kinda forces you into it if you don't want to live life without romantic love and it felt more like Enid was going to be forced out if it wasn't for Wednesday. Wednesday's arc isn't necessary to be sapphic, there can still be a deconstruction of tradition and dynamics in straight relationships but it does feel that once they linked her destiny to Enid's that they should fall together to be more satisfying than just some oh look we got typical dark teen heartthrob boy number 4.
I'm just upset and upset that the writers surely know this given they had to state that there won't be a romance between them.
ok so there should be a makeout scene and they should play hell of a good time by haiden henderson. anyone else agree?
Nothing that Judi does in this show make sense if we think about her actions before and after it.
Judi is basically the one in charge of Lois experiments, she is an avian(with weird limtions but we will get to this). She want to hide the secrets of her father work and maybe continue it? The thing is, Judi character, aside have poor villain reveal, doesn't line up with anything really.
Judi sent an assissan to kill all the lois experiments that escaped for noone else will know about it, and...that it, not try to restore them, okay I guess, make sense considering her facility is off activity, nothing too critical but still weird because like she said, they are her father life work.
Judi mentioned how she emptied her money budget whatever to hire the assassin, the thing is, if money is a problem, why the heck keep all the patients alive for 20 years if they are in the same state and no results, it not like the show even suggested other normies who got powers, only Judi, in fact, we don't know for sure how if there is more, but...it a problem by itself, Judi story with Lois exist just to set up Isaac technically to remove his sister hyde curse.
The crow in the end suggesting either Judi wasn't the real avain or there is another...bur Judi didn't used her own crows to hunt the patients that escaped, why? In fact we never actually see her using them, instead when she attacked Enid in the school, but it is still too inconsistent.
Why attack Enid? She just saw her and Wednesday talk, it may was to Wednesday actually, but she still have fouced Enid, was it just mislead or what?
Basically I can continue but you see? Judi has no more motivation or personality than basic to move the plot, she is revealing herself in ep 4 ending and after two scenes in ep 5 she die immediately.
Her story overall was interesting, but a bit wasted because the writing made her just a tool to move plots or threat characters, whatever it make sense or not, because it not even a mystery, just confusing aspects of the writing.
Going through a minor (massive) WenClair phase, and was wondering if there have been any "characters react to the show" type fanfics? I know they can often be a bit.. trashy, but that's kind of the mood I'm in.
Hope someone has a suggestion or two!
Looking for fics similar to this absolute beauty
theyre Roomates and Enid came into their room after breaking up with Ajax. Wednesday gets mad for Enid and goes on Enid’s phone and tells Ajax to meet her outside. she shoots ajax in the foot with her crossbow like the badass she is. Ajax says he broke up with Enid because he thought Enid liked Wednesday. Wednesday is confused. she heads back to their dorm and goes to sleep. the next day she and Enid talk since Ajax completely ghosted Enid and Wednesday brings up that fact that Ajax said Enid likes her and that’s why they broke up. then there’s love confessions
