One of the many incredible home videos in Martin Short’s new Netflix doc

is Spielberg filming Marty and Tom Hanks in their swimsuits on a yacht recreating the cliff jump scene from Butch Cassidy as Ed Grimley and Forrest Gump lol

There’s enough sweet and/or funny home videos like that to recommend this even if you don’t like the modern streaming celebrity doc imo. It’s more about his family/friend filled personal life than it is a generic career overview, although it does still hit all those beats that it has to but it’s efficient about it and of course the clips are hilarious. It’s directed by one of his closest friends Lawrence Kasdan and features a lot of Catherine O’Hara in one of her final appearances. Highly recommend!

Anyone else had a chance to check it out yet?

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr just put out a new song together “Home to Us!” What are the odds Ringo joins Paul on the season finale and Lorne finally (kind of) gets his Beatles reunion?

Ringo also hasn’t been on SNL in 40+ years! He was only on once and it was as a host during the Dick Ebersol years without Lorne

Kind of a rhetorical question lol I mostly just wanted to put this thought out into the ether!

Hit Me Pod and Cast: The Pod (Cast in 3D)

I do not think it will make for a good discussion on its own on the Patreon so hopefully the boys are able to pair it with something, if they cover it at all. The high frame rate 3D is incredible and the new lightweight cameras they use are cool, I could see them becoming a trend in concert films, but unless the boys are fans of Billie (or JD comes on to geek out about the tech) I don’t think they’d have much to talk about

My only real complaint about it is it focuses a little too much on the fans in a couple different ways, but I recognize that stuff is for a younger, more devoted stan than me who’s an old ass, normal fan lol

It’s truly crazy how intimate it is and it does feel like you’re with her the entire time (she has to run under the stage a lot and get into multiple tight spaces and you always follow her) which I don’t think any concert film has really tried to do, especially with this level of tech behind it. The most surreal stuff is the handheld footage she’s filming herself, in HFR 3D it’s kind of unbelievable. And the camera just looked like a big ass GoPro on a stick! Most of the movie is shot with the bigger cameras though and definitely feels more cinematic than an average one of these so it’s worth checking out if you’re at all curious and like pop music (if you don’t already like her ofc). Just like the Avatar movies, be sure to see it in Dolby if possible
