What is this part of the shoe called? The newer New Balance 880 in the wide size no longer fits, and it's because this section is too tight. The v12 was perfect, but is the newer v15 that is the issue. Any recommendations on what to do, or any other shoes that you would recommend?

Not long ago, I bought the Saucony Guide 18 Wide. They were potentially great, but I unfortunately discovered that the arch support bothered me too much, as I have flat feet.

So I opted for the New Balance Fresh Foam X880 v15 (pictured). The support is neutral and the width is extra wide, but only on paper. The shoe still compresses the foot at the arch and creates a very unpleasant feeling of heat and friction. The most comfortable shoes I own are the Altra Lone Peak 9 and a pair of Barefoot Saguaro that I really wish had a cushioned sole.

I would like to have some more "elegant" shoes. I'm really demoralized.

Database with insole measurements

Hello, as a true 4E footer I see way too many recommendations here which are just not wide. Can we maybe get a database going with insole measurements? I've personally tried 40+ different wide and extra wide shoes and only a handful of them were wider than a regular shoe. Btw that also counts for New Balance, they're not wide at all in 4E.

Technically I have no idea how to set this up, but I'd gladly provide my measurements of course.

Mary Janes Side Gap 4 Duck Feet

Hi! My side bunions make wide shoes a better fit but most of my feet and heel are more narrow. Thoughts on the best way to help with these side gaps? Would just an insole help? Thanks in advance.

don't think my feet are wide but have high instep and high arches, how do i find shoe that fits?

got a foot scan at a shoe store and it said i have high arches, high instep, high ball height, and high girth (lol) for my feet, but my feet aren't actually that wide. When I buy many shoes, they fit lengthwise, but since i have high arhces + high instep, they poke at me at the top, and feel too constricting width wise, even though I don't have wide feet. I also tend to supinate, so shoes with tons of high arch support are less stable for me. Ugh. Anyone have reccs of shoes? Looking for walking shoes. I loved danskos but the top jabs into my foot and huts. I just got merrell mules but the same thing, too tight at the top due to my foot's "girth." How is this diff from wide feet? Any ideas, wide feet community?

Wide foot, narrow heel, fallen arches shoe recs for walking and/or office

Hi, kinda new to the wide shoe game and am now in need of good walking shoes since I moved to a big city as well as corporate appropriate shoes. I am 23F for reference. I have put my foot measurements below. So far my only semi comfy walking shoe is the vionic city walkers (8W) BUT my heel is more narrow so they always slip (even with little heel inserts and the runners lock shoe tie — I’m devastated).

Fallen arches where my ankles roll in and my feet go flat when I stand, but when I sit it LOOKS like I have normal arches lol. Arch support would be cool but also just looking for a shoe that I can put inserts in (and is deep enough for that).

Main issue is the fact that my heel is normal or maybe even narrow width (?). I just really need shoes that fit my proportions without slipping AND without crushing my toes. Would love a cute loafer for work and a comfy tennis shoe or other for walking around. Please help

Measurements in pic!

Hoka Bondi 9 extra wide, first impressions

Very light, airy material, roomy in the toe box, lightweight.

I don't like the look of them, but I'm happy to use them as every day go to shops, parks, and gym shoes. If they give my feet the support and relief they need so that I can keep doing what I'm doing, I'll get used to them.

It used to be that I could order a pair from New Balance and it would more or less be fine. My 14 4e sized feet always fit very well in them. But as time went on they started to offer less and less. Then I moved to asics with their gel-venture line. That in a 14 Extra-wide (4E) as they call it worked fine. But then they too started to narrow the tip of he toe-box. Then with the Gel venture 10 they also started to narrow the 4e show. the gel venture 10 is a good bit narrower at the widest part than the gel-venture 8.

Then came the move from rubber soles to foam. I can't use these because I even at only 250lbs am just too heavy for them. My heel will supress the foam near completely and then I have to work to overcome the non compressed foam at the arch of my feet.

I buckle down and decide to buy New Balances most expensive sneaker, the 990v6 and I am hopeful that it will fit me. I am told it will. But no it doesn't. It too now has a very narrow toe tip. my big toe jobs right into the side of the shoe near the tip.

I have tried so many different brands and nothing fits anymore. Sneakers I still have from 20 years ago, 10 years ago, 5 years ago, they all still fit fine. It's clearly visible. Shoes are getting narrower even when they claim 4E. The toes are getting narrower too. Shoes are moving to foam instead of rubber, plasticized mesh instead of leather trim.

I just don't know what to do. I am near the end of my land pairs of gel venture 8's. I am about to buy used pairs off of ebay to hold me over because there's just nothing left.

does anybody have any advice?

I’ve always struggled to find shoes that fit, both for hiking/running and for daily wear. Right now I’m looking into the Altra Lone Peak 9+ Wide.
Any other hiking shoe recommendations for wide feet? Sneaker suggestions would also be appreciated.

Need shoes for my wedding; I'm the bride

I'm trying to find shoes anywhere that are white or blue, ideally something a little nicer looking. I'm not opposed to flats, kind of prefer them. I'm usually a size 11-12 2E in tennis shoes, and whenever I buy "wide" formal shoes they fit like they're made for regular width 🫪. I've looked at torrid but the selection hasn't been great :(

Wide midfoot issues

I recently went to see a local podiatrist after having more issues with my trash feet than normal. In the last six months my arches seem to be flattening more under load, especially later in the day. I’m on my feet on concrete all day. During my visit he recommended an Amazon wide toebox shoe from Bronax. It’s a fairly generic cheap shoe with a larger shaped toebox. Just like topo and all the altras I’ve tried it comes way in at the arch area and I hang way over the inside midfoot area. A local running shop had me in a brooks ghost max 11.5US 4E but it was so sloppy in the front and the cushion made me feel pretty unstable. The podiatrist said I’m really a 12 2E and I don’t necessarily disagree but I can’t find a shoe shaped like my foot. He did suggest I ignore OTC insoles as well.

Any suggestions? My podiatrist seems more concerned with my forefoot than the part that hurts so much.

Looking for a wide canvas sneaker

Title basically says it all. I’m looking for a summer sneaker like a Vans Authentic or a Sperry Deck shoe in wide foot friendly sizes. my Brannock size is 11 EEE though I sometimes have success with 11.5 EE. I know Vans and Converse have wide sizes available online but I’ve never tried them. Any Suggestions regardless of brand would be helpful and welcome

Hey all,

Pretty much what the title says, but honestly I've always thought I had "small feet" as length wise 8.5 inches is small for mens, but width wise I never thought about. I've gotten away with it most my life I've realized by wearing size 9 shoes that ended up being 2E (as I've learned) or conveniently close to it. So while there was some pressure on the outside never enough to bother me, but since moving to a proper length of 8.5 I've been where I'm sure most of you are at now.

Queue this last snowboard season where I, unfortunately, bought Salomon boots that are notorious for being more narrow and small. I rode them all season, and do to this I have the smallest tailors bunion, or bunionette now on my right foot. My feet would be hurting after each day on the mountain, and I just thought it was me breaking in my boots (sometimes we can all be a little stupid) I also started playing tennis, and the shoes I chose there were also too narrow contributing to the bunionette. So, here we are now where I've been deep diving and trying to find shoes that work. I work vans most of my life, and they would just spread out to the point where it would be comfortable and not bother me. This last year however I wore Nike Dunks (this being a huge mistake), New Balances (these are great and cause no issues), a my nike tennis shoes which are super narrow.

What brands have you found that worked for you? From the research I've done with a size 8.5 shoe, and 4.5 width that puts me in basically no mans land from what I've seen.

Stage Shoes/Boots for Musician

I'm a guitarist in a country band and am looking for shoes to wear on stage that have a boot look. I feel like a schmuck wearing sneakers with a cowboy hat. I've seen some oxford styles that would work, chukka and chelsea boots are also in the vein of what I'm after. Not wanting straight-up cowboy boots, too heavy, and I have large calves that in addition to my wide feet make it even harder to find a full boot.

In sneakers, I typically have to wear something that's extra-wide. 11-11.5 US depending on the brand.

I'm not sure what shoes will fit me. I'm looking for running and gym shoes. I tried the Hobibear size 44 EU, and they were so tight that they hurt my foot.
