We are travelling and just past a nice waterfall in Ghana, Westafrica, called Kintampo Waterfall.
There have been 2 snakes in the trees above the water, quite big, guess arround 1,5 to 2,3 meters length. Some local tourists told me, they call it "green snake". I did some research and it looks similar to Dendroaspis viridis in my eyes. But the region ist a bit untypically (too much up north) compared to my research.
I know they're both rattlesnakes, but they're clearly two different species. What type of rattlesnakes are these?
Opened up the coop and had a surprise!
Went behind a small fridge in my office, pretty I presume juvenile black racer
Hi, there! I was on a walk around Conestee Nature Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina and came across this interesting interactions between snakes. A boy and his mom were observing these snakes from maybe 5-6 feet away and when my partner and I were passing by, the mom said she thinks the bigger snake (I think may be a northern or brown water snake?) was dead and the other two were eating it. At first I thought that maybe they were breeding, but then I noticed the other lil guy to the left was kind of nudging the middle snake with its face. I couldn’t see from where I was if anything else was going on. I guess I was hoping that someone could identify the snakes in this picture, and maybe provide a potential explanation for this interaction?
Its been lying motionless on the road only moving away when i got close
Not sure if this is a cotton mouth or not. Was in the middle of a gravel road.
Found under some bushes
I ran into one on my hike today and one on the road out. Both were about 4' long. The on the hike was a chonker.
This little guy/gal was hiding in between two bricks in a retaining wall where the mortar had crumbled away. I am worried that this may be a copperhead because this is in my elderly parents’ backyard and I (lovingly) joke that my father is the real-life embodiment of Clark Griswold. He is the primary caregiver for my terminally ill mother (I am their only child and live and work on the west coast, unfortunately). Should something happen to him, I would grieve hard, but my mom would be devastated. We both love him very much and want him around for as long as possible! :)
Thank you for your help with identifying this new friend (or foe?)!
I believe this is a black racer grabbing dinner. But wanted verification.
This guy is slithering around my yard near my bird feeders. about 3 feet long. Mojave Desert, Southern California.
A fellow tech doesn't know what kind of snake this is. Wife thinks it's a not safe one, I have no clue
