What kind of lizard is this? [Pioneertown, CA]
He was pretty big (like, body around 4") and super chill. He let me get to within inches of him. No push-ups or nothing.

I ran into one on my hike today and one on the road out. Both were about 4' long. The on the hike was a chonker.
His colors are wild. I really want to be able to ID these. Learning...
This large fellow hung with me on my hike for a little bit. He was very dirty. I can only imagine what his colors are like under all of that dirt. I'd put him from tip-to-tail at about 12". Thanks!
