For reference, me photod a day after the arrest (showing how I look peaceful and calm) and my friend's photo of my hands in the police cuffs when I got nicked.

You can see they're uncomfy and this is bad. What can I do about this?

Why do British police use the cuffs with a bar no chain?

Failing vetting with MET as a serving officer

Hello all..

I’m a serving officer in a county force for about 5 years. Have attempted to transfer to the met last year but failed due to vetting and obviously couldn’t tell me reasons as to why (defo third party). At the time of failing I was residing with father who has previous for x2 handling stolen goods bout 20 years ago. I have since moved out and contact is minimal, im looking to apply to the met again.

I also have an estranged uncle who has been visited by PREVENT back in the 2010s but unknown as to why, I haven’t had any contact with him in years.

As per my forces policy, they revetted me following last years refused vetting with the met and they have no current issues and passed me again, was also told by my forces vetting officer that they know the reasons as to why the met refused my vetting but obviously couldn’t disclose anything to me

Is there hope for me?

Vetting question (another one)

Hello everyone,

Hope everyones having a good weekend! Am thinking about applying to join but I have a caution for possession of cannabis from 11 years ago, would this cause me to fail the vetting process?

If god forbid my mother was desperately ill in the car, would I be entitled to removing the protesters by force e.g shoving to clear A path? Surely they can't continue to block the road after A clear emergency has been declared. However im not sure at all because of course its A personal vehicle and not A governmental emergency vehicle.

Sifting

Does anyone know if metpol have changed their pnc sifting requirements.

Twice I have failed the sifting down to PNC but not sure on what as my circumstances haven’t changed, I have also been a special with the Met and left only last year.

What Happens If The Victim Breaches A Restraining Order? (Wales)

TW: SA

When a restraining order is in place, what is the policy if the protected person breaches it, such as by visiting places close to the offender's home or work?

I Was trying to googling this and surprisingly I couldn't really find any information on it

This is what sparked my curiosity-
I Have a restraining against my r@pist, who is out of prison and no longer under sentence. The mum & baby group I'm in may soon be organising group walks in the woodland down the road from my abuser's home.
If I were to join this group walk I might have to walk past the end of his cul-de-sac, which crosses well within the 200m limit of the restraining order. So now I'm wondering where is stand legally in that scenario

I'm Just asking as a general hypothetical right now, your answers don't have to relate directly to my situation, just the principles for this sort of thing. Could the victim get in trouble, could they lose the restraining order, what variables could make a difference?

Thanks in advance for any input

Afternoon all,

Bit of a rant / looking for some advice on dealing with difficult legal reps in custody.

I’ve been a PC on response for just over 2 years now, and in that time I’ve come across my fair share of rude, obstructive, and generally difficult legal advisers—both in custody and during interviews.

There are definitely some I have a great working relationship with, and others… not so much. I appreciate they’re just doing their job, same as us, but some really seem to go out of their way to make things unnecessarily difficult.

I’d like to think I’ve got fairly thick skin, and not much gets to me—but jobsworth legal reps seem to be my kryptonite.

One thing we’re not really taught is how to properly deal with this kind of behaviour, especially when it comes to knowing your powers, challenging them appropriately, and not letting them take over the interview.

Whether it’s constant interruptions, patronising comments, belittling, or just outright rudeness—how do you deal with it in a way that’s PACE-compliant, while still maintaining control and keeping things on track?

Cheers in advance.

Hi all,

With vetting, to my knowledge my close family - mother, father, brother do not have any criminal convictions or been associate with criminality in any way. My partner of 4.5 years who is a police officer - so no concerns there.

I just have two ‘third parties’ who I have issues with and want to gain some clarity from the group. (1) - My dad’s partner, who I am living with (with my partner) whilst we save our house deposit, to my knowledge has 1 (maybe 2) instance(s) of assault many years ago due to a fight - and considered spent. Nothing current. My uncle - on my mum’s side, I know to my knowledge has a conviction for driving under the influence (drug) 2/3 years ago and is now considered spent. Asking my mum, she says he may have been convicted for the same thing when he was younger - but nothing she is too certain about. I really do not associate with him, and rarely see him … max 4/5 times a year for family occasions. And always around other people I know he’s considered extended family - but absolutely intend to declare him as my uncle etc.

Mostly looking for some piece of mind, but also some clarification on how these two parties will be considered. My step mother I only ‘associate’ with at home, she has a highly reputable job and no current issues, and my uncle is not someone I consider to associate with only really a family member who I have no control over his life choices. Thanks all

Called 101, reported a vehicle and gave their reg plate.
They respond “how do you know their MOT has expired…” , I replied “it’s on the MOT history and tax check website”

Now they start questioning me, “ what made you look up the vehicle to find out it had valid MOT, do you know the driver and how do you know they are driving etc….”
They drive daily, they move their car and park in a different place everyday. And they take two parking space purposefully in residential street parking so it’s gonna make people notice….

As always I doubt anything will happen, nothing ever happens even when you give police evidence in the U.K.

My child (25m)living in London, England, was falsely accused of historical rape by his ex girlfriend after they broke up. His lawyer has submitted a PCE with proof of the relationship being coercive, controlling as well as financially abuse. It is now over six months since this happened and the OIC has stopped updating us on case or the next date. Is there anything we can do to quicken the process to its conclusion or even get a response from the OIC? How long can this remain in limbo at the investigation stage?

Im just sitting here feeling pretty down about everything and thought id reach out to see if anyone has any ideas because im running out of time and options.
So basically im about 6 weeks into my tutorship phase after finishing immersion. I started off proper motivated and keen to learn but its been a complete mess so far. Ive only actually been out on proper response or patrol with my actual tutor like 3 times in total. Every other shift theyve just paired me up with whoever is on from my team and it turns out im on what a lot of people call the worst team in the station. They barely go out on the streets, most of the shift is spent in the nick on the computer or just waiting around. So im not really getting any proper experience at all.
I tried speaking up about it pretty early on. Went to the SDU sgt after a couple of weeks and explained i wasnt getting any tutor time and asked if there was any chance of changing it. Nothing really came of it. Then i tried the inspector too. Still nothing. Eventually i contacted the federation rep because i was getting worried about falling behind. They had a chat with the sgt and inspector but i wasnt part of the meeting or anything. They just told me afterwards that everyone seemed happy with how things are going. That was basically it.
Its doing my head in because my girlfriend is on a different team thats a lot more proactive. Shes out nearly every shift with her tutor, already got a couple of arrests and is smashing her portfolio. When i talk to the other lads and lasses who joined at the same time as me theyre all getting loads of time out with their tutors and building experience properly. Makes me feel like ive just been really unlucky with how ive been placed.
Anyway ive now only got two weeks left to get the rest of my portfolio done and im only on about 20%. Its looking really tight and im starting to panic that im not going to make it to independence in time. I know these things can be tough for everyone but i do feel like ive been at a massive disadvantage from pretty much day one through no fault of my own.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation during their probation or tutorship? Did you manage to get it sorted or turn it around? Is there anyone else i should try speaking to like higher up in training or someone without it backfiring on me? Or am i basically stuffed at this point?
Sorry for the long post but any advice would mean a lot right now. Thanks if you read all this.
