How does everyone deal with the humiliating experience for being unemployed?

Society, your own thoughts, and the market can be very brutal sometimes when you're unemployed. Regardless of how tough mfer you are, it sucks being unemployed. There are lots of humbling moments when being around friends or family. Nothing aggressive, but the passive humbling. Everyone who's had a job gets their chance to throw "dont be lazy, just apply online, there are lots of openings in Linkedin". Its humbling for sure

Times like these..you have to take what you get…

Found a job after being unemployed for 5 months. Its a bit of a backward step in seniority and 35% drop in my hourly rate, but the market is quite bad now, especially in IT.

I am in Servicenow implementation if you are curious.

Job hunting burnout, advice on rebuilding mindset and handling unemployment anxiety?

Hey everyone,

I've been job hunting for almost a year now (in marketing analyst / data integration space in Toronto area). Recently I had 4 really good opportunities back-to-back. Each time it felt like I was close, if I had understood more clearly what the interviewer was really looking for and aligned my answers better, I could have gone further in the process. But all of them ended in rejection. It's completely wrecked my confidence and mindset.

Every time I think "this is the one", it falls through, and now I'm in this loop of anxiety, overthinking what I did wrong, and feeling like I'll never land anything. The prolonged unemployment (10+months) is adding financial and emotional pressure too. I know the market is tough, but it's hard not to take it personally or feel like I'm the problem.

How do you guys recover from streaks of interview rejections?

- What helped you rebuild confidence after multiple "almost there" failures?

- Any practical ways to handle the daily anxiety and stop the rumination?

- Tips for staying motivated during long job searches without burning out completely?

- Did anyone go through something similar and what actually worked (not just "stay positive")?

Appreciate any real stories or advice – especially from people in tech/marketing/ops roles. Thanks.

Green Apprentice

Hi everyone, I’m in Ontario, Canada, and I recently graduated with honors from Sheridan College’s Pre-Apprentice Plumbing Technician program.

I’m trying to break into the skilled trades and would really appreciate advice on the best path forward. My main interest is plumbing as a Level 1 apprentice or helper, but I’m also open to welding, HVAC, sprinkler fitting, or any hands-on trade where I can gain job-site experience and build a long-term career.

I already have WHMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid/CPR, a G2 license, and access to a vehicle. I’m open to driving long distances or relocating anywhere in Canada for the right opportunity.

For anyone already in the trades, what would you recommend as the best next step to land that first opportunity?

Need temporary job ASAP in Toronto any suggestions

Hey everyone,

I just moved to Toronto and have been doing interviews, but I’m looking for something I can start ASAP to cover rent while I keep searching for something more permanent in my field.

I’m honestly not picky, cafes, retail, temp agencies, admin work, anything really. Ideally something flexible or short term since I’d leave once I land a full time role.

If anyone has suggestions or knows places that hire quickly I’d really appreciate it!
