A planet of Things?

I assume that Earth is not the first place the Thing has visited. What does a planet look like when it has been fully copied? Like Earth would have been according to Blair’s calculations? Do the Things create a society? Build civilizations? Kill each other? If this is a common question, i apologize.

My finance doesn’t want to watch, because it’s old 😐

Her reasoning for not wanting to watch is because she doesn’t like how old movies look 🙄 I love her with every fiber of my being, but what in the actual fuck lol. I have it on blu ray 4K ultra HD and it does help make it look better, but she seriously doubts that. What can I do to convince her to watch it with me?

MacReady sucked at playing chess

So computer programs in the early 80s were not great, for example Chess Wizard was like 1600 rated, and software was like 1800 max, he was playing as White (I think) so a loss Is unjustifiable, worst you should do Is a draw, so yeah he Is a noob, probably he doesn't even know what EN passant Is. btw fun fact the original script ended with MacReady setting the Pieces for a chess game, and probably in a wrong position too

What the 2011 movie about The alien pilot species investigating the things homeplanet, the alien crew being infected and the alien pilot crashing the ship to Antarctica to destroy the thing. The Norwegian base still remaining a mystery.

i’ve always enjoyed watching the prequel before the Original due to the beautiful transition, but my mind had changed

The transition from one movie to the next always felt just too good to not enjoy, but i’ve changed my mind.

I’ve thought a lot about it and i’ve come to the conclusion that for me, the prequel answers a lot of the beautiful and horrific mystery, and its the unknown of this mystery that is such an added layer of horror that got me so hooked in the first place.

Sometimes answering the questions reduces the enjoyment of what is good about something. It’s what our imagination can do with these unknowns that Carpenter has so wickedly threaded through the film.

Has anyone ever imagined how hard it would be to make a sequel (Story wise)?

I think one of the hardest things you have to deal with in a sequel is how you have to add on to the story of the previous entry. What makes it different? And all that.

The prequel had flaws, a big one is that it borrowed a lot from the original (the autopsy, the speech around the fire, etc). Which does kinda make sense because it's almost the exact same as the original.

I feel like you really can't add much, if anything, to a story about ambiguity. Explaining more about the Thing has the potential to make it less interesting and not all fans are gonna agree with these potential changes to the creatures lore.

Can't really change the setting because there isn't a lot of places as isolated as Antarctica.

I feel like you can't really make an interesting story for a sequel to this story. Has anyone else ever thought about this?
