Looking to start streaming- What do I need?

Hi! I’m pretty out of my element here so I apologize if I’m asking any questions that have already been answered. I’m looking to start streaming but am pretty overwhelmed with all the information I’m seeing in my googling and Reddit browsing and have a limited budget as I’m disabled.

I have a 5+ year old Dell G7 laptop and an Xbox One that I’d like to stream on twitch with a face cam and art overlays that I’ll draw myself. I plan to mainly use my console to play games. Do I need any kind of extra hardware besides a cam? I have my headset for my Xbox that I’m planning on using for audio.

Any cam or other hardware recommendations would be very much appreciated!

Flickering with Tik tok live studio.

I have no idea why live studio is doing this, I looked around and can't find a solid fix, when I 'look around' in games the lighting flickers on the stream and in the preview - this is not an in-game issue, it's strictly on the stream and I have no idea how to fix it. It happens no matter what game I try to capture with the studio.

UPDATE: I solved my own issue. Since it happened with any game I plugged into the studio, I just reinstalled live studio and now it doesn't flicker. I guess I'll leave the post up in case anybody has the same issue.

Streaming setup options in 2026 (simple → advanced)

I've been researching streaming setups recently and realized there’s a pretty wide spectrum depending on how far you want to go.

Basic: Webcam + OBS

Mid-tier: Mirrorless camera + capture card

Advanced: Multi-camera setup with switchers

Then there are newer all-in-one devices like the YoloBox Extreme series that seem to combine everything into one unit.

I’m curious what most people here are actually using day-to-day.

Do you actually need a full PC setup to stream anymore?

I’ve been going down a rabbit hole with streaming setups recently and something surprised me.

I always assumed you needed a PC + capture card + software like OBS to run a proper multi-cam stream, but the reality looks like looks like there are now standalone setups that handle switching, streaming, and recording all in one device. I recently came across stuff like the YoloBox Extreme that seems to do everything without even needing a computer. Absolutely amazing.

I’m still tying to know if is this actually a viable replacement, or is a PC setup still the better option long term.

Tech and capture questions

Hi ! Super new to streaming and need some capture device help. Streaming from Xbox series X to MacBook OBS. Got a cheap Amazon capture device and found it it’s only a single hdmi input so I can’t connect to tv AND MacBook. What’s a good, cheap way to resolve this? I heard you can buy a cheap splitter and continue to use the single-hdmi capture, or should I buy a whole new capture with an input and output hdmi. Thank you in advanced ;p

Is upgrading to a pro webcam like Insta360 Link 2 Pro worth it for remote work?

I’ve been using a basic webcam for Zoom calls and sometimes streaming, but the quality isn’t great, especially in low light.

I saw the Insta360 Link 2 Pro and the AI tracking + gimbal looks interesting.

But I’m not sure if it’s actually useful or just overkill for normal use.

Has anyone tried it? Is it really better than a regular webcam?

Streaming for 6+ hours and my phone dies every single time

I stream 5-6 days a week, usually 6-8 hour sessions. By hour 4 my phone is always dead. I use it for reading chat on a gooseneck mount, checking alerts, and sometimes as a backup cam angle. On top of that my laptop running OBS needs to stay charged, and my wireless earbuds die around hour 5 if I forget to top them up before going live.

The annoying part is I never have time to charge stuff properly before stream. I usually realize my phone is at 20% like 10 minutes before I go live and then it's a scramble. And if I'm doing an IRL stream or moving between rooms I need something I can grab and go, not a cable spaghetti situation tied to my desk.

How do you guys handle keeping all the side devices alive during long sessions? Especially phone and laptop and wireless peripherals.

Cameras/Webcams for Streaming? (Beginner → Pro setups)

Hi everyone, I’ve been looking into streaming camera setups recently and honestly spent way too much time researching different options, from basic webcams to full mirrorless setups.

Figured I’d put together a simple list in case it helps someone else trying to upgrade.

I personally ended up looking into some of the newer hybrid options like the YoloCam S7, but I also compared quite a few traditional webcams and camera setups along the way.

I know lists like this never match everyone’s opinion, so feel free to disagree or add better suggestions.

Overall (Personal Take):

Best simple upgrade: Elgato Facecam MK.2

Best bridge option (for me): YoloCam S7

Best full quality setup: Mirrorless camera + capture card

I’m just curious to know what people here are actually using for their streams.

Are most people still going the full DSLR/mirrorless route, or are these newer hybrid/webcam setups good enough now?
