Are webcams finally replacing DSLR setups for streaming?

I always thought the upgrade path for streaming was pretty clear — start with a webcam, then eventually move to a mirrorless/DSLR setup.

But recently I’ve been seeing some newer webcams that are starting to blur that line a bit (bigger sensors, better autofocus, more control, etc.).

I recently tried one (yoloCam-s3) and the image quality difference compared to a typical laptop/webcam setup was way bigger than I expected.

For people who’ve used both, are webcams actually “good enough” now, or is DSLR still a big jump?

Streaming setup options in 2026 (simple → advanced)

I've been researching streaming setups recently and realized there’s a pretty wide spectrum depending on how far you want to go.

Basic: Webcam + OBS

Mid-tier: Mirrorless camera + capture card

Advanced: Multi-camera setup with switchers

Then there are newer all-in-one devices like the YoloBox Extreme series that seem to combine everything into one unit.

I’m curious what most people here are actually using day-to-day.
