Elevate Utah’s response to O’Leary’s strange diatribe on fox the other day.

I’m a centrist. Against what is happening with ice and data centers. Can both sides of the isle share their thoughts on this response? I thought it was kinda clever. If youre for the the data center, why?

My version of Kozyrev mirror vertical.

Hi all, my passion is forgotten inventions. I build Kozyrev mirror, on the picture is the left one. Right one is Orgone Accumulator. Kozyrev mirror is closed cylinder of aluminum sheet 1 mm thick, open from top and bottom. I`m in Bulgaria, too far away from to give you a chance to try them both. But there is one Kozyrev mirror in Utah if you want to go and test for yourself.

Thank You </3

I’m just a passerby from East Tennessee and stayed in St. George. Just wanted to say thank you for sharing your amazing community on my journey! The hospitality was unmatched and the city as a whole was incredibly charming, I will definitely be back! (Obligatory pics from Zion and Bryce)

Dixie Regional Medical Center lights out

Walked pass the old hospital and most of the lights are all off.

The entire building looks like an abandoned hospital. lol.

I always wondered if the building has any history of it being haunted.

The building looks very creepy and made me wonder about paranormal activity in it.

Also, I am curious to what the building was used for after the hospital moved.

I think it was a paternity ward and then a head trauma place.

Any idea of what the building was used for in recent years and why someone forgot

to pay for the light bill. lol.

just being nosey.

Looking for the good and bad! Please share your opinions!

Hello! I am wondering if I can get some details from people who live in Hurricane or St. George, aren’t LDS, and have school age kids. How is it?

For Context: We moved from out of state to Northern Utah (Spouse got a job) in 2025. We did as much research as we could, picked the nicest house in the nicest neighborhood we could afford, in a beautiful city. We have 3 boys in Elementary school (public school), and this year has been soul crushing. Kids have been nice, but not friendly. Nobody has accepted the invites to come over, they aren’t included at school at recess, etc. We’ve tried hard too; signing up for youth sports, coaching youth sports, joining the PTO, constantly going to the park, to markets, to community events, you get the idea. And after doing this for a year, we’re tired, my kids are sad and feel like they don’t belong. We’re pretty open and inclusive people, and honestly just want our kids to be okay. We’re mainstream Christian (if that matters).

Fast forward to this last week: We visited a gorgeous rental in Hurricane. Spent time at Sand Hollow, and Pecan Valley resort. The area looks like it’s really being developed and the people were incredibly nice the whole time. My husband would love to join in the off roading community that looks like is booming as well (have a side by side and dirt bikes). We also drove by St. George on the way back which is beautiful!!!

Million dollar question: are either of these cities any better at accepting new families? How is it going for other families in the same boat? Did you find your people? We’re pretty outgoing, and loved hosting our group of friends before moving. We’d love to find somewhere in Utah where my kids can thrive.

Voting info becoming public?

Why? I honestly can’t think of any reason this is good. You have to pay $1050 to get the info so that will be posted online soon…. Honestly feel like this is gonna get people killed, cause people to loose their jobs, and not get hired.

Can someone tell me a good point to this?

Alternative to Gaia’s Cafe?

Hey y’all I’m a Salt Laker that comes down every few months because my little sister is in school down here. Last time I came, I went to Gaia’s Garden Cafe and absolutely loved it. It was good coffee, the best avocado toast I’ve ever had, and a very welcoming environment (I love supporting places that foster inclusivity). I told my wife I was excited to bring her there and was heartbroken to see they closed last month! I’m wondering what other recommendations y’all have for a cozy coffee shop that is as welcoming and friendly as Gaia’s? I see a new shop has taken over the space. Are they comparable in the same way? Please drop any other recommendations below. Thanks in advance!

ICE NOISE PROTEST:

5/6 @ 7:30pm. Meet in the Maverik parking lot that is right off of Green Springs drive exit

DO NOT GET OFF AT GREEN SPRINGS DRIVE EXIT. THERE IS A CAMERA AT THE INTERSECTION. Instead, get off at Exit 13 and drive over to the area by way of Buena Vista Blvd. Park in Maverik or Panera or Quick Quack car wash

Wear a mask, cover up tattoos & hair, leave phone at home or in your car. Bring stuff to make noise with (bullhorn, drums, brass instruments) and signs that say things like “ICE OUT”.

Opinion on Santa Clara

I grew up in Washington during the 70's and 80's. I got my first speeding ticket coming down that hill right around Jacob Hamblin's home. My memory of Santa Clara was mostly farm land and older grandparent style homes. My son recently moved into a mixed resident place near that new Church that is being built. We visited him from Nevada this weekend for Mother's day. I was out for a walk this morning and holy jeepers the houses sure have changed. There are still a few of the older style homes sprinkled here and there but the newer ones are pretty impressive. It's got to be money coming in from out of state, right? If not, what are people doing in So Utah to support living like that? They are beautiful homes

Silent Film Festivals - 2026

Seeing a silent film in a theater is unlike any other film-going experience. Part nostalgia, part theater and a completely beautiful live experience. These films were built for big screens, live music, and an audience reacting together. The visuals really pop when they’re not squeezed onto a laptop, and the live score adds energy you simply don’t get from a recording. Without dialogue, you end up paying closer attention, and the storytelling feels sharper, not dated. Plus, the crowd matters—comedy hits better, dramatic moments carry more weight, and the whole thing feels more immediate. Do yourself a favor. Go out and experience a silent film in a theater.

Please comment below if you have knowledge of any local or international Silent Film Festivals that are not already listed.

I thought there was a thread about this already, but I can't find it. Looks like there are 22 in Washington county.

Is anybody else really concerned about these cameras?

If so, can we organize? I feel like chances of complaints being heard are better if there are a lot of people complaining about it at the same time.

On 5/6/26 there was a loud protest held at this Hotel in Washington from 8pm-11pm. The agents’ vehicle was tracked and marked in the parking lot of this location. It was supposed to go until midnight, but we were forced to leave by police officers over a 10pm noise ordinance. They initially met us at the beginning of the protest as we were in the parking lot and were forced to leave the property, which is when we relocated to the side street still close to the hotel. Luckily at the height we had about 40 people and made a ton of noise with megaphones, whistles, pots & pans, unified chants, signs, and expressions of disdain for the domestic terror organization that is ICE. Multiple vehicles and motorcycles drove by to revv their engines and honk their horns in support. Some residents of the hotel and random bystanders joined our protest, while others recorded us and tried telling us to go away. We got louder each time we were told to be quiet. I’m on probation so I had to leave around 1030 and am not sure how long it went on for after that. The initial post was deleted so I’m making this one as a discussion post for anyone who attended or has questions about what occurred. I hope that next time we have more people, cops are less inclined to tell a crowd of 500 people to quiet down than they are a crowd of 40. They tried to claim that a single ice agent was staying there and that he’d left already, but we know that was a lie because they don’t travel alone. If they were to travel alone, that would make them easier to intimidate. Make sure to take every chance you get to record the faces of these “agents”, they will be held accountable one day.

Interior Designers in St. G?

Need some recommendations for interior designers in the St. George area. I’m buying a home in the Ivins/Santa Clara area and everything is either that Tuscan puke or gawd awful millennial grey/white with hardware and lights from Home Depot. Who have you used? What was the process like? Looking for the good, bad and ugly. Did they source furniture, deco, hardware and lighting or did you have to do it? How were they managing a budget? My ex works for a designer in Utah County but I’d rather be covered in honey and mauled by a badger than call them.

I’ll be moving here this summer. I’ve been wondering what kind of things like culture shocks or laws are different in Utah or St George that I may not be aware of. I understand liquor is only sold from state stores. Are there other alcohol laws that are different from a lot of other states? What about driving and traffic rules? Traffic cameras/speed traps/ right on red/ phone in car? Are fireplaces allowed or no because it’s a desert?
