After many hours of designing and many more hours of printing, we've finally completed our set of custom 3D-printed presence tokens! We designed them using ProCreate and Affinity, completing the 3D models using Bambu Studio. Playing with them has been great fun so far, they feel much more "personal" to the spirits. I now sometimes choose a spirit (that I would otherwise not have chosen) simply because I like their tokens!

Wanted to share some of these! My boyfriend painted the snake & lure ones otherwise I did the rest 😄 My favorite are the volcano ones or the wildfire ones also look amazing on the board. We did these with acrylic markers and then I have a tiny tiny brush for some details.

Custom Spirit Island tokens — the saga continues! Previously, I posted on Reddit all the completed energy tokens (including an additional ‘five’). Now I’ve finished the rest, all with hand-painted details. It took a long time, but what can you do when it’s not possible to buy an official version?

Additionally, I’ve been asked to add shield tokens with different values to make gameplay easier. I haven’t played with shields so far, so I can’t comment on their usefulness, but they seem like they might be helpful.

10 Players archipelago game at my local club anniversary

So at my local club anniversary I proposed a big game. I got a bunch of tokens of different colors to allow for up to 12 players and connected a laptop to a big tv using the Spirit Island Tracker from u/Untitled002. In the end we had 10 players.

The spirits were (per Island):

  • Earthquake, Lightning and Wounded waters
  • Teeth, Green, Travel River, BoDDYS
  • Lure, Earth, Reach Shadows (I had Lure and the other two at my island were playing their first SI game ever)

We played against Prussia 3 and got a Turn 6 Terror 3 victory.

I spent the whole game teaching the newbies so most of the game is a bit fuzzy to me but Shadows and I were on boards E and A and we got Jungle initial explore, so 4 new cities at turn 1. Fun stuff. Next time well try a bigger one, but I may wait for u/yawa16 so I can get my hands on one of those beautiful custom presence tokens. ;)

So I finally decided to get into SI. I know that Branch and Claw and Jagged Earth are the first things to look out for. But it's the promo packs, Horizons stuff etc. that I'm unsure about.

Are there any promos that aren't included in other expansions? Are there any promo packs that are worth picking up and skipping an expansion (if possible). Is it worth it to grab the Horizons spirits? Can they be used without owning Horizons itself? I understand you also get additional colours in Horizons, which would be cool to have.

I know questions like this have been asked a million times before, but I still haven't been able to figure out what I need to seek out. I don't want to buy every expansion ever, but I do want some extra cool spirits at least.

Suggestions? Or if there's some sort of buyers guide I've missed, that would be appreciated too

We've recently bought the base game and we LOVE IT. It is so good and i really want to get all the expansions.

However, I've heard they are hard to get... is that true? How many expansions are there? Will i be able to get them all in time? We don't have that much money to buy all at once, maybe one expansion per two months. I'm a little anxious it will be gone before i get the chance to buy them.

I played with the river surges on map A. No blight card and unlimited undos. I assume the logical next step would be to play without these 2 options enabled.

Im wondering what you would recommend for general progression after this. Should i stick to 1 spirit maps and use different spirits? Maybe go to 2 spirits?

Are there other ways to vary the game/increase difficulty?

Are the different maps easier/harder?

Thanks, again im a complete beginner, luckily won my first game 🙂

Custom fractured days aspect

Eric: I agree to the terms for creating Spirit Island game elements set forth in the FAQ.

Custom cards were made in Spirit Island Builder by Resonant, Neubee, Tom, Derrick, and Nils.

Have been thinking about this aspect for a while now, finally put them into words, was wondering what you all think!

Custom presence tokens update: Etsy is live!

Wow! We are absolutely blown away by all comments on my post from last week. After finishing our full set of custom presence tokens, we simply wanted to share our enthusiasm online. We never expected that so many of you would be interested in getting your own set, but given the number of reactions, we could hardly say no to figuring out how to realise this.

We spent our free time this week to figure out how to set up an Etsy store, take proper pictures of the tokens, create a financial overview (turns out they are not so cheap to make), and gave our printer some well-deserved maintenance, but we made it! Our tokens are for sale as of right now :)

Our brand-new Etsy shop now lists the printed tokens and the 3D-print files. The storage box is not fully done yet, the design needs some tweaking, but we'll add that separately once it's done.

With these designs done, we want to make more pieces for Spirit Island. Custom incarna is high on our list to do next!

We hope you enjoy our tokens as much as we do! Thanks again for the amazing response on the initial post, and we hope to see more pictures with our tokens on this sub soon =)

It took me 12 games to finally beat England lvl 6 with Keeper. I understand Keeper is considered very strong, and maybe I was missing something, but it really seemed that it was an uphill battle. It felt that Keeper's main strength was the strong track progress. Meanwhile, all of the innate aspects of Keeper seemed kind of useless until much later in the game:

  • Keeper's innate does 2 damaged at the lowest threshold, which is useless against England due to the health increase to towns and cities, and the additional conditions for builds. You need another fire element. Even then, still require more cards that help threshold since killing one town just isn't fast enough. But by that time...
  • You get blocked out of lands due to the nearly guaranteed blighting that will take place. And that makes it hard to get Keeper into those lands to do his innate. You either clear the blight, find a different damage dealing mechanism, or strategically place wild tokens for future presence.
  • But of course, those wild tokens that should also help with explore invader actions do very little here because builds will happen regardless.

Interestingly enough, during the game I won, I managed to get the Minor Powers I needed to control the board, deal damage with Major Powers, and threshhold the innate pretty often. A bit lost if I was lucky or just getting better. The game where I finally won, I think I still had 2 or 3 blights or my Healthy Island side of the blight card.

Anyways - off to learn Wildfire and challenge Sweden. I just need a very different experience after that.

Second time playing, with no blight card or adversaries because I am still learning. Only barely managed to squeak out a win by using my fast abilities to get just enough fear for fear level 3 and replace the last city with a town. Excited to try the different adversaries at some point when I get better!

Hi everyone,

I really love playing Spirit Island and one thing that honestly started to annoy me over time was the setup and teardown. So over the last few days I worked on a custom foamcore inlay, and I'm finally done - and pretty proud of it 🙂

I took a lot of inspiration from this website: https://www.timjeanes.com/spiritisland

What was important to me was that everything (base game + Branch & Claw, Jagged Earth, Feather & Flames, Horizons, Nature Incarnate) fits into one box, without box lift. That's also why I printed the spirit boards myself on foil - about 7 of them stacked together are roughly the same height as one of the old cardboard spirit boards. It's also designed so I can transport the game vertically on my bike without everything getting shuffled around.

Since I often play with newer players, I also sorted the cards and Spirits that can be used with just the base game (i.e. without the new tokens). Those cards and Spirits have a small black dot in the corner (that's what the ⬤ symbol on the card dividers refers to).

I'd love to hear how you all handle storage and setup - any clever solutions or lessons learned?

Sometimes I wish I had an abacus for the elements to quick math and add counts. Shoving tons of element around for counting and math feels like friction we don't need to have.

Abacus with 8 rows, each having 10 elements (does anyone use more than that? Highest I've seen is shitting turtle (stones defiance) at 9 mountain, but I haven't checked thoroughly.

Hello,

I’m looking for recommendations for some good matchups.

I really like the game, but I often struggle to commit to a spirit and lose motivation pretty quickly. So I’d love to hear about matchups you’ve had good experiences with.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

Beginner-friendly: 1–2 spirits, not too difficult, but also not completely “on rails”

Intermediate: 1–3 spirits, maybe with a scenario; challenging but not frustrating or overly luck-dependent

I’m using the app, so all expansions are available.

Bonus question:

What’s the “right” way to play with multiple spirits?

So far, when playing as two players, we’ve mostly just handled our own boards with very little interaction. Usually, one player ends up contributing much more to the win, while the other mostly just survives 😄

Thanks in advance!

I play mostly solo and duo, occasionally 4 person games.

Shattered Days calls to me. I'm in love with the theme and art and concept and have some fair experience using him; but I can't consistently pull him into a strong position.

Of course sometimes I get bargains of power and protection and it becomes very easy to steamroller the game with dehan, but the real power I know is pulling off ludicrous combos during his G2 with time slips.

How do people consistently find success with him to get into those positions where you blow up all your time saved to take sweeping control of the board in that one turn? I find myself often being too stuck in a reactive mindset to get there and go for "big turns" where the runes line up for innate abuse.

How do people do this consistently?

If I play a 0 cost land targeting power card and have 2 water elements, can I play that card 3 times for free during my turn if I play [[Gift of abundance]] on myself (playing solo) and use the "Pour down power across the island" special rule?

Can't figure this game out

Hi I bought this game a few weeks ago(I have all the expansions except Nature Incarnate, but I really suck at it, it's incredible. (Im playing with events and blight card and no adversaries)

I can snatch out a win with some basic ones like Devouring teeth or the one that has +10 land health on sacred sites, but I cant do anything with the more complex ones(but more fun) like Vengeance or Volcano. Especially the first few turns i really have no clue on what to do.

I mainly lose because of blight(or tbf because I get overwhelmed by too many enemies). Do you have any tips or strats? Thanks!

Edit: In a second I got super detailed answers from so many people, thanks so much :S
