Bots by BannedMan (Theory)

Over the past few weeks, there were quite a few posts with strong negative or full-of-hate takes on the other community that would regularly pull 150–300+ upvotes.

A few weeks ago, one of the main moderators got banned by Reddit for rule violations (which many in the community, including myself, saw as a positive step toward healthier discussion).

Out of curiosity, I’ve been checking back in, and it feels like overall activity and upvotes on similar posts have dropped SIGNIFICANTLY. Scrolling through recent threads, the numbers look much quieter compared to before.

It got me wondering (purely as a fun theory, not claiming anything definitive):

Was there possibly some botting or coordinated boosting going on to increase the negativity?

Just an observation!! I’m not trying to stir drama or accuse anyone specifically. Curious if others have noticed the same shift?

Would love to hear your thoughts (keep it civil please). 🙏🏼

The reasoning behind the recent Kanduras for Emirati only discussions happening

TLDR: UAE authorities clarified that only Emirati citizens may wear Emirati national dress in advertisements and social media promotions. The rule aims to protect Emirati identity and prevent misuse, especially in commercial content where non-Emiratis wear the attire, use incorrect dialects, or portray stereotypes that may offend local culture.

As a tiny restaurant owner we need the communities help

We are sorry but quality control Is not in our hands right now, if we decide to use the best products we will have to close down as prices have drastically been increased and there are no customers. Our food taste has significantly dropped due to vegetables being spoilt, meat being old because it stays frozen for too long before landing in the UAE, good quality rice being no longer available or 4x the price, not being able to find the right cooking cream due to a shortage and the list goes on.

Closing down is not an option as we believe we will all bounce back one day and re opening is allot more harder then paying out of your pocket for a while + staff salaries.

We request you to support your local restaurants and if the taste feels off let them off for it and understand their situation aswell rather than asking for free food and writing bad reviews online. Most of us business owners have opened up after investing after selling our families assets back home and we are their only hopes so please be considerate

EDIT: By spoilt vegetables I meant in 8kg tomatoes/meat there will be 3kg ruined so we have to filter them out, sometimes a ruined piece is left behind and ruins the entire meal

Everything will pass one day and we will be awarded for our patience :)

Consider adopting a dog, cat or rabbit in the UAE - RescueME

Hey all, tried to make this post on r/Dubai but apparently it's against the rules lol so trying my luck here!

During the war I was disgraced hearing about so many pets being abandoned by the expat community and felt like I had to contribute.

I am in contact with multiple animal rescuers in the United Arab Emirates, they had pain points and are not the most technical people and struggled in getting the word out, mostly dealing with WhatsApp groups and Facebook, no native platform to make their lives easier and increase adoption rate in the United Arab Emirates.

This lead to me giving them a helping hand and together we built rescueme.ae, a platform to increase adoption rate, help neglected and abandoned animals and give rescuers the platform the deserve for all of their hard work.

This is a collaborative effort between many parties, you can read more on our about us page: https://www.rescueme.ae/our-story, we do not take fees, ask for money or operate in anyway for profit. RescueME has already helped tens of pets find loving friends and happy homes, hoping to see this number increase into the hundreds by the end of the year.

If you know someone who wants to adopt, but isn't sure, please spread the word and help neglected and abandoned dogs, cats and rabbits in the UAE find loving homes.

Thanks,

Joe, the web admin of RescueME

Looking for investors to roll up laundry businesses in the UAE.

Looking for investors

I've been speaking with several laundry business owners in the UAE who are retiring and looking to sell their businesses. I’m looking to raise 150k to acquire and consolidate a few of these businesses. I am targeting businesses in ajman, Sharjah and parts of old Dubai as rents and salaries are cheaper and margins are better.

Here are a few details of some of the businesses

Laundry in ajman - 150k purchase price - high months profit 15k- normal month 8-10k

Laundry in ajman - 50k purchase price - 3-4 thosuand profit per month

Laundry in sharjah nuliah - 90k purchase price - 60k profit per year

- Significant upside potential through strong digital presence as some aren’t even properly listed on Google yet

- Potential to increase revenue through contracts with hotels, salons, gyms, Airbnb operators, and other local businesses

- Can decrease costs as all the businesses can bulk buy detergent and materials.

The goal is to acquire the business and then improve sales.

If anyone here is interested in investing, do message me.

If you could maybe help me…

Me (17f) and my family have been living in Dubai since 2023. We’ve all technically had residency since 2015 and did live in the UAE between 2015 and 2019.

The reason me, my siblings, and my mom went back to Sudan between 2019 and 2022 is because of my mom’s job. You see, my mom has worked for a pretty big bank in Sudan (not sure if I should say the name) for the past 17 years, and was on unpaid leave for the 4 years we’d spent in the UAE until then. After the war started in Sudan, all the workers shifted online and we came back to the UAE, where my dad works.

Now, the bank is saying all its workers need to be back on site by June. This is obviously stressful for a number of reasons.

For one, Khartoum (the capital where my mom’s bank is) is not safe. The troops may have retreated, but crime is still rampant. Power outages and blackouts are frequent. And, more recently, there’s been a fuel crisis.

Moreover, I’m supposed to graduate next year. I can’t go back with my mom to Sudan and disrupt my education (I’m doing A levels. No schools in Khartoum currently provide year 13 teaching). I also can’t look after my 3 younger siblings on my own here in the UAE, and they’d suffer terribly being ripped away from the lives they’d only just begun rebuilding and the friends they’ve only just gotten comfortable with to go back to Sudan.

On the other hand, my mother can’t give up working. She refuses to become financially dependent on anyone or to live without her own stable income in her own two hands, and, obviously, I completely get and support that.

Together, we’ve applied to 150+ jobs here in the UAE over the course of the past 3 months, to no avail. She has 17 years of experience, she’s held a senior position for the past few years or so.

All of this, coupled with the ongoing tension here in the UAE, is just really really stressful. I’m not asking anyone to give her a job, though that would obviously be amazing. I just want to be led in the right direction. If anyone has any advice or knows if we can do anything that might better my mom’s chances, I’d really really appreciate it.

Thank you so much for reading:)

UAE Air Defenses intercepted 3 drones that entered the country's airspace from the western border. Two of them were successfully intercepted, while the third struck a power generator outside the internal perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in the Al Dhafra region.
