Edalyn no.2, now with more GoldFoil

The partner build to the one I posted a few days ago. The body is a single piece of quartersawn poplar, finished in Oxford Sonic Blue nitro. Pickups are Gemini Goldfoil Teisco spec and they are killer on the short 24" scale. Descendant vibrato, Bensonite bridge, no ragrets.

I think of poplar as an east coaster's version of alder. Moderate weight, easy to work/a little soft, affordable. It being a very common native species and growing to such size that I can buy quartersawn boards 10 feet long and 16" wide makes it a favorite for me.

Ballin’ on a budget

after reading the comments and suggestions on my last post i decided to go fender for my first amp, but i wasn’t feeling at ease with the price point for the latest models. that’s when i decided to go for this late mustang I v2 for 40 bucks on marketplace, i think it sounds pretty good for the money and it’s in very good shape. also pretty loud (to me at least). does anyone have some experience with this amp and suggestions for some settings?

My collection

Here is my collection of offsets on the wall and the stands out front. My wife passed away in January and the guitars have started taking over the living room.

What knobs fit on a squier cv jaguar?

Hi, i have tried to find info online, but im struggling. i want to transform a cv jaguar into a cobain jaguar, so im drilling an extra hole in the jack plate thingy. I just can't find out what size knobs fit on the potmeters that the cv jag has (in terms of hole size, total size, and if they need to screw on or get "plugged"

NGD - Gretsch Electromatic Double Jet in Silver

Just ordered this Gretsch for what was $299, then I got a call saying that the guitar that said it was in “great excellent condition” in the description had a completely broken headstock. He texted me a picture of it and it was hanging off. So had to find another of the same model for $316. Lol. Sorry anyway.

Great guitar, neck feels great and is fun to solo on and do bends/barre chords. Feels like a pretty close medium between a Stratocaster and a Les Paul, but definitely leaning more towards Les Paul at least in the bridge pickup. Neck pickup feels more single coil-ey to me but maybe that’s just my pickup

Height because mine are vastly different heights for some reason. Gonna get it set up, but the bends are super fun and easy and this one is real comfy and fun to play, sounds great for garage rock, classic, alternative, blues, rockabilly especially. Indie for sure. Overall happy.

Anyone else have one? I know there’s multiple variations, one I played had 4 or 5 buttons instead of the 2 mine had. Wish I could get the Triple Jet. Always wanted it so this was kinda a dream guitar of mine.

Got an offset tele JS from Franklin guitar works, almost no sound when series mode engaged

Guitar arrived and sounds fine when volume pot is down. When pulled up for series mode almost all volume is lost. I don’t see any loose wires. Anything to check before initiating a return? I know the switch set to bridge would be silent, but this is with switch in the middle or neck.

Weird overtone/ringing on my Jaguar — resonance or harmonics?

Hey everyone, I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with a guitar tone I’m hearing and could use some input.

I’ve got a really noticeable ringing/extra tone on top of the main note. It’s not just sustain — it feels like there’s an additional “shimmer” or overtone sitting above what I’m playing.

I’m wondering if it’s:

•	Resonance (something in the guitar/bridge vibrating sympathetically)

•	Or harmonics (natural overtones coming through strongly)

I’m not totally sure how to tell the difference in practice.

Guitar/setup details:

•	Fender Jaguar American Original 60s

•	It’s been set up twice:

•	First with 9s — honestly a disaster (buzz, instability, etc.)

•	Now with 11–46

•	Bridge has been shimmed/“shored” using PTFE and some tubing to stabilize things

What I’m noticing:

•	Happens on certain notes more than others

•	Sounds like a higher pitch layered on top

•	Almost like something else is ringing / warbling

Would really appreciate any insight — I feel like I’m close to understanding what’s happening but not quite there.

Has anyone ever had a string break at the ball end?

Ernieball 11s E string on squier cv jag.

How do I stop this happening in the future?
