Edalyn no.2, now with more GoldFoil

The partner build to the one I posted a few days ago. The body is a single piece of quartersawn poplar, finished in Oxford Sonic Blue nitro. Pickups are Gemini Goldfoil Teisco spec and they are killer on the short 24" scale. Descendant vibrato, Bensonite bridge, no ragrets.

I think of poplar as an east coaster's version of alder. Moderate weight, easy to work/a little soft, affordable. It being a very common native species and growing to such size that I can buy quartersawn boards 10 feet long and 16" wide makes it a favorite for me.

New offset build - Edalyn 001

My first dual pickup offset - I'm calling the "Edalyn" - borrowing heavily from Fender's big cat, and named after my own. The body shape is very Jaguar, but with the lower horn recessed closer to a Jazzmaster position. This one is made from a single piece of northern ash, finished in vintage cream over Aztec Gold nitro. Descedant vibrato, Nova bridge (7.25" radius) and Gemini Mercury One humbuckers. This one has an Allparts 7.25" radius neck. I am very slow making necks and keep a couple Allparts/ebay necks on hand to plug gaps, but I honestly love this one and I think it's staying on there. I don't know if quality has improved a lot in recent years or if I was just mislead that Allparts was second-tier years ago, but the couple I've gotten from them have been excellent.

I haven't really been a humbucker player for years, but really liking the M1s. The bridge isn't too pointy, the neck isn't too mushy. A lot of HBs sound a little too pinched and dense to me, but no problems here.
