In 1967, King County began collecting a 2% Hotel/Motel Tax to pay for the Kingdome's construction. That tax still exists today but is used for other purposes. In 1994, Seattle issued bonds to pay for the Kingdome's roof repairs. Those bonds weren't paid off until 2015 (15 years after its demolition)

Taxpayers can be on the hook even after NFL teams leave or fund new stadiums.

The Kingdome at one point hosted the Mariners/Sonics/Seahawks at the same time but it's now a footnote to Seattle's history.
