An AL East batting stats in innings 1-3 vs 4-9: A "response" to Jake Rill's tweet
After the image that was posted yesterday about the team's recent struggles in the first 3 innings of games versus the final 5 innings, I decided to do a bit of a dive into comparing some of the batting splits during the same time spans and other hitting stats around the MLB. This one is just contained to the AL East because this is a bit of a time consuming task lol. BAbips on the last 3 might be a bit wonky due to calculating errors, the pitch stat choices were determined as first pitch being an obvious transferable stat, the second chosen pitch is a representation of each teams strongest ball in play pitch count (combination of highest ABs and slash line) all teams in the AL East are batting well below the Mendoza line in 2 strike counts so I see those counts/stats as irrelevant for recording. These stats are pulled from Baseball Reference and are current only to last nights games. (4/19/26)
You won't find any expert analysis from me on these stats; I'm just posting this as an aggregate stat list for the division and the team.
