Best Microphone Brand Right Now In 2026?
Hi, I am writing this post because I am in urgent need of a new gaming mic. My current is the Blue Snowball iCE one and it's been my one and only for like 3 years now. It's started picking up way more keyboard clack than my voice and the audio is getting thin and crackly.
I've been reading on here and and come to a realisation to either get a Shure MV6, Rode NT-USB+, Logitech G Yeti Orb or HyperX QuadCast 2 S. I don't want an XLR setup so USB option is a must for me. My budget is $200 so I can afford each one. I thought to be loyal to Logitech and get that Yeti Orb, however I might be missing out on something better.
I honestly can't wait anymore as the summer is almost here, school is over and I want to game and stream with the new mic. Basically ready to pull the trigger so please help me make the final decision!

Shure sm58
What recorder do you guys use to connect your Shure Sm58? Any advice
How much audio quality am I losing by using a Razer Seiren V2 Pro over a Shure SM7B?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently in the process of starting high-effort & higher quality (camera wise) tech videos (think product reviews / keyboard sound tests) and I’m torn on my audio setup.
The Gear:
- Current: Razer Seiren V2 Pro (Easy to use, sounds fine to my ears).
- Alternative: Shure SM7B + Shure MVX2U interface (Borrowed from a friend, he doesnt need it).
The Problem: I tried the Shure setup, but the volume is extremely low compared to the Razer. From what I’ve read, I likely need a dedicated interface and a Cloudlifter/preamp to actually drive the SM7B properly.
The Question: For high-quality tech niche content, is it worth spending ~$200 on extra gear to get the Shure running(+ the effort)?
I don't want to be "lazy" with the Razer and regret it later, but I also don't want to overspend if the quality jump isn't massive for someone who isn't an audio expert.
How noticeable is the difference for professional-style videos?
Any advice from audio experts would be appreciated!
Just a girl producing and recording my first album at home: need help deciding on a microphone
Good morning microphone pipo,
I’m looking for a microphone to record and produce my vocals for my first album. Here’s some info:
- My genre is a mix between dream/art pop and electronic with r&b and world-music influences.
- The style of the vocals I’ll be recording range from intimate, close, airy and delicate, with runs and riffs, through some more warm, sensual, smoky vocals, also belts in the mid range, and soaring highs with mixed belts in the 4th octave.
- My voice type has been described as “clear and bright”, young, modern. I’ve been told it’s a “Disney princess” voice, other references I’ve been compared to are Barbara Streisand, Ariana Grande. I can also sing in a more opaque, darker style, in a Lana Del Rey or more soul-inspired style, for example. I do wish my voice was fuller, smokier, warmer and more emotional, so I want the recording to help bring more body and fullness in my tone, without losing where I shine which might be that brightness and youthful sweetness/sparkle. (I know, kind of contradictory but I hope there’s ways to make this happen)
- Room treatment options: I can create some DIY room treatment with blankets, rugs, my mattress, pillows etc. I will record either in my bedroom or my living room. They both have reverb and echo so I’ll make a little corner for recording inside them.
- Equipment I have: Scarlett interface, Bose quiet comfort 45 headphones, computer, and I’m still deciding between Logic and Ableton.
- I’m planning on producing, mixing and mastering my own music, learning as I go because it’s my first time doing this.
My question to all the experts is:
What microphones under 600 (used or new) would you recommend for me if you were my mentor and believed in my project, and wanted my first EP to sound as professional and competitive and beautiful as possible?
What colors of my voice would different micros bring out?
and also
What other key equipment am I missing for a basic setup to produce a good result?
And if you’re feeling generous
Any advice for a girl recording and producing her first album by herself?
Thank you in advance for your time and wisdom.
Kiss on the forehead 💋
Would you buy a tlm 103 if you already have the tlm 102?
So I have a tlm 102, a Shure sm7b, an AKG P420 and a U87 clone I built by myself with an rk87 capsule, but today I received an offer from a guy that was selling a tlm 103 on facebook marketplace, he would sell me the tlm 103 for $375, it seems genuine, just a few scratches on the body, and I've been thinking about it all week
Needless to say I'm low on money, and the studio isn't my main source of income sadly
Recommendations for alternatives to the SM7B
As of recently, I use my mic to talk with friends on Discord, but I also record vocals and produce music occasionally so I would prioritize better vocal sound quality than clear audible voice on Discord (Although I dont want to be locked into one side). I used to own a Shure SM7B, but I sold it to a friend who needed it more.
I liked the sound of the SM7B, but I wasn’t a huge fan of how gain-hungry it was. I’m looking for cheaper alternatives with great sound quality. I don’t mind needing some gain if the mic is worth it — just preferably something more affordable.
Some of the mics I’ve been looking at are the Rode NT1 and the Audio-Technica AT2040.
How to make my Shure SM7B louder?
I know absolutely nothing about mics, so these might seem like dumb questions. I have an SSL 2 audio interface, I'm using the 48V phantom power on it, and I have a Cloudlifter. The mic is still a bit on the quiet side. I have an okay amount of headroom to just boost the gain/compression, but it's cutting it really close. Maybe there are some tricks in post that I don't know. Getting a new mic or anything is out of the question, but I could afford another preamp, for example.
So, is there anything I can do? Can I like... literally just buy a second preamp lol? Is there any way to boost the db so I have more headroom? I've heard I could get a "fethead" idk. Or maybe I'm doing something wrong in the recording process? Maybe this is all really obvious haha.
Best dynamic mics for vocals in untreated room
I am in a little bit of a pickle.
I need a dynamic mic to record indie / pop / rock style female, mostly mid heavy vocals in an untreated room. Unfortunately Shure mics which are well known for their quality are not available in my region currently. I'm looking for an alternative to something like an sm58 that makes sense in this condition. Post processing is ok, I wanna get as close to mix ready sound quality as possible.
Alternative brands like Austrian Audio, sE Electronics, Sennheiser, Rode, Beyerdynamics and many more are available.
Please help me get out of this situation and recommend your best mics for this use case.
Looking for a XLR microphone for gaming purposes
I am thinking about buying DT 990 Pro 80 ohms black edition and the hyperx flipcast for 358$ and pair it with a Elgato wave xlr mixer for 179$
Are the prices good and is there anything you guys recommend me changing and why and the better option
Audio interface for rode podmic
My focusrite Scarlett solo 3rd gen just broke, I bought a 4th gen as a replacement and it’s awful, had non stop issues with it, it will randomly disconnect from the PC and I’ll have to replug it in to get it to work.
I’m gonna return it and I don’t want another focusrite product so please give me recommendations for other audio interfaces, preferably around the same price as the Scarlett solo 4th gen (£120)
My podmic is XLR btw
Edit: I already have a tritonaudio fethead inline preamp so large preamp inside the interface is not a necessity
my mic situation is sad and i need a good one within budget
so i had a headset mic but it broke for no reason (the quality of that thing wasnt even good anyways), and im using my built-in computer microphone now, but it sounds like if you put the mic in a microwave, then in a freezer, and then tossed it in a volcano, then retrieved it and kept it in the microwave
so i got like $30 to spend for right now, and i need just a good quality mic that can go into a boom stand later or something
i know im being picky but i really do need a wired mic, and i do have 2 separate aux ports, one for headphones one for mic, so i need a mic that connects to my computer via XLR to 3.5mm Auxiliary
There are some mics that dont get used like at all sitting around at my family's house but ive been told they wont be good for recording on obs and talking on discord i dont know one of them but the other is a shure beta 57a and the other one is also shure
Is it fake AT2020?
Hi, I'm looking to buy a used AT2020 and saw this great deal. The seller bought it in 2022 and has a receipt with the serial number. I'm not very knowledgeable about microphones, could you please tell me if this is an original microphone?
edit: Thank you very much for your help, I'm buying this microphone. It may seem silly to worry about such a cheap thing, but these days, they'll counterfeit anything.
Any recommendations on a mic for recording outdoors?
I'm trying to record a few songs near the ocean for a short concept album with folk songs about the ocean. I'm planning to do a few solo vocals, a few with a guitar and vocals, a few with me and two or three homies doing vocals and maybe a guitar and a melodica played on the lap and some light percussion (small hand drum). I'm also pretty broke so my budget for an appopriate mic is $100 or less, including if I need extra mics for the instruments or other vocalists, and probably but I think not exclusively including the windscreen. I'd love to use a sm57 but it's way too expensive.
Any suggestions on anything more budget friendly? I don't need it to sound clean record quality, I just need it/them to pick everything up. On hand, I have an old Chinese Neewer USB podcast mic I used to use when I was a journalist. I also have some audio editing skills from my journo days, so I could potentially put that to use to bring down jarring loud sounds? Anything that could help me pair that with anything else to get the instruments and vocals would be killer. Doubly so anything that could help me get a vintage sound a la A.L. Lloyd or Alan Lomax without dropping 500 bucks on a vintage RCA Ribbon mic. Would really appreciate the help in making me make some music!!
Where can I find this mic?
I am trying to get the dimensions of this mic to get it 3D printed but I don’t know what it’s called to even look it up. Reporter mic isn’t getting me where I want 😅 any clues? Much appreciated!
What is the best Wireless Headset Mic out of this three?
I'm looking for a wireless headset under €200 with the best microphone quality, and Gemini suggested the following three in this order. What do you think? What are your experiences?
- Razer BlackShark V2 Pro
- Beyerdynamic MMX 150 Wireless
- Corsair HS80 MAX
