not much else to add. just wondering!

I know absolutely nothing about mics, so these might seem like dumb questions. I have an SSL 2 audio interface, I'm using the 48V phantom power on it, and I have a Cloudlifter. The mic is still a bit on the quiet side. I have an okay amount of headroom to just boost the gain/compression, but it's cutting it really close. Maybe there are some tricks in post that I don't know. Getting a new mic or anything is out of the question, but I could afford another preamp, for example.

So, is there anything I can do? Can I like... literally just buy a second preamp lol? Is there any way to boost the db so I have more headroom? I've heard I could get a "fethead" idk. Or maybe I'm doing something wrong in the recording process? Maybe this is all really obvious haha.

I have been interested in this game for a while, and I finally got a few friends on board to play it with me. When looking around, though, I found a lot of criticism around the game circa 2025. Apparently, multiplayer is known for desyncing and having issues, and I should follow a guide.
And I've also seen many people complain about the state of the DLC. We're playing vanilla initially, but might share the DLC or something down the line. I tried doing all this research myself, but I couldn't find anything SUPER up to date.
So I was wondering, do I actually have anything to worry about? Or should I just play and have fun?

Bonus question: Are there any "house rules" I should implement for multiplayer? I was thinking maybe not directly attacking players, because it would suck to just have to stop playing a several-hour game when your friends are playing.
