Life is too short to play boring guitars

Solar Guitars V1.6 Svart Canabalismo Evertune.

Newest acquisition for myself.

I know that Solar doesn't have the best track record for QC, but as far as I can see, I have no issues with mine.

Set up was great out of the box. Swapped out strings to tune to D Standard/drop C, quick adjustments and we're away!

Killer guitar.

Just wanted to share. Using the Boss IR-2 with some pedals into the Positive Grid Spark Cab. Sounds Glorious.

Metal songs to use as benchmarks of guitar skill?

If you were to set benchmarks for “a song a beginner should be able to play…” “intermediate” … “advanced” … “master”, what songs would you choose? I’m trying to gauge where I’m at. Bonus points for more extreme metal but as long as it’s not core (except regular ole hardcore) stuff.

Where is the correct place to pick for metal rhythm guitar?

I am very new to this hobby and am not sure the correct picking placement for master of puppets chugging down picking.

How stupid of an idea is this?

So I've been music for a long time now but I've never bought a really cheap guitar but I'm at a loss. I can not find an SG in flat black to save my life except this one. recently found I really like the design and feel but I need something in my style or I'm never gonna fully enjoy it.

I play very aggressive HM-2 style music. The idea is to get this budget guitar and just upgrade the pickups at least as a start (I'm not sure what else you would really upgrade). I'm not a player who needs a high end instrument, it just needs to sound decent and feel good to play. is throwing some Black Winters in this budget guitar dumb or will it end up being alright do we think?

Cause I'm not spending over 1k on a $300 SG that stopped being made in 2010 because it's hard to get now (the Epiphone SG G400 Gothic to be specific, im struggeling to find one). So this is my only other option really.

Why can’t I get a crushing tone on my amp?

I’ve got a Boss Katana, I think it’s an older model, and no matter how much I set there and tweak I can never get a great guitar tone. I can make it sound good when chugging but no good articulation when playing anything else. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

I just want to achieve a sick crushing tone. I’m just a lowly bedroom guitarist and we also live in a tiny trailer with a newborn so I can’t ever really crank it loud. I wonder if that’s my problem, playing to quiet?

I’ve considered a new amp too, maybe an Orange Micro Dark or a Joyo Zombie but I just worry I’ll run into the same issue.

Any advice or resources would be greatly appreciated. My sucky tone kills motivation

Put together my first one

Had an idea of a cool guitar and made it happen one piece at a time. It’s got the tele EMG set with an 85 in the neck. Gotoh tuners and bridge. Reverse headstock. Nothing insane but I love it

7 String Pickups Reccommendations

Hey everyone,

I have a Jackson JS22 - 7 string that i’ve owned for a while but never really gotten into. I haven’t touched or swapped out any gear on it. I’m trying a lot more 7 string stuff now and i’m noticing that the feedback/buzz is RIDICULOUS. I’ve downtuned to play some northlane and the feedback is so incredibly noticeable, but it’s always a problem.

I’ve been playing guitar for a really long time but i’m quite naive when it comes to gear and electronics. I use Neural DSP and feedback or buzzing has never been an issue on any of my other guitars.

Would getting better pickups help? The guitar is on the cheap end, and i’m open to putting some work on it to help me further understand the gear and help make it sound better if possible.

Any feedback is really appreciated. If new pickups would help, any suggestions would be great! Thanks everyone!

Would you take this offer?

Right now I'm playing on a Boss Katana 50 EX Gen 3 and using a Boss Metal Core pedal. A friend has offered to sell me his Marshall DSL40CR for €400. Would you take the offer, or is the upgrade not really worth it? If I get the Marshall, my Boss amp would probably just collect dust.

I'm 16 and not earning any money yet, if that's important for the decision. I'm just not sure if the upgrade is worth it.

Locking straps from D'Addario

I love the Planet Wave D'Addario locking straps. They are inexpensive and comfortable and have a locking mechanism at the strap end, so it's a strap lock that requires no modifications. This way, I also don't have to dedicate a strap to a guitar. The end has a slider with a jaw that locks. The slightly more expensive one just clips over the strap button. They are like $15 to $25 and 100% effective. It's nylon, so machine washable too. Never dropped a guitar yet. I use 2 or 3 of them for all my guitars.
