Me Standing In Front Of The Infamous Amityville Horror House!

All of your social media peeps out to your know damn well that I wasn’t gonna leave New York City without visiting this house FIRST. Which has been on my mind and bucket list for quite some time, and I finally had a chance to visit the “Real Life” Amityville horror house. Well, let me tell you all it was quite an amazing badass and scary experience at the same time. Even looking through those famous pair of window eyes gives me a little bit of the creeps, if you know what I mean?! 😱 😳 👻 🏚️ PS after arriving at the famous haunted house, I was very surprised that they had a cute little dog on guard, who was awaiting for my arrival in the front gates lawn area lol. But after my selfie taken with the home, and was halfway from driving away from the place when all of a sudden, the dog was no where to be seen, and I’m not sure if it’s a ghost, or has it retreated in the bushes, as soon as it started to rain. And yes i had my selfie taken on time before it started to rain heavily, thank god!!

Lollygagging LIRR foreman repeatedly used work car to go home, friend’s house while on the clock: watchdog

Anyone surprised? This has been going on for years.

https://nypost.com/2026/04/20/us-news/lollygagging-long-island-rail-road-foreman-repeatedly-used-work-vehicle-to-go-home-friends-house-while-on-the-clock?utm\_source=nypost&utm\_campaign=android\_nyp&utm\_medium=social

He spun his wheels all the way home — on the clock.

A lollygagging Long Island Rail Road foreman repeatedly slacked off on the job, instead using his work vehicle to go home or hang out at a friend’s house, the MTA’s watchdog found.

GPS data revealed the supervisor — identified as Frank Gullo in a public records request — spent nearly 66% of his traveling shifts during part of 2024 at non-LIRR locations, according to an Office of Inspector General report released Monday

Tints Question

I am wondering if anybody has been in my shoes or something similar. I am a NYC resident (license has Brooklyn address), I was driving my friend’s car - which is registered in Pennsylvania, she was in the backseat tending to her newborn. I got pulled over because that tints are dark for everything but the windshields. The officer gave me a paper showing my court date, however when I tried pleading guilty and paying a fine, it only gave me a fix it and pay a fee option.

How would this work, if it is not my car? My only violation was for the tints, I was not speeding or driving recklessly. I am unsure as to what the options are here, especially it is not my car, and we made it clear to the officer at the time I got pulled over.

Boardwalk Meet up Success

Update: we ended up going despite the weather

it wasn’t nearly as bad as it looked — more like light rain and an empty boardwalk

honestly kind of a nice change from how crowded it usually is

just a small group walking, talking, grabbing food, hanging out for a few hours

glad we didn’t bail on it

we went to the end of the board walk and back, got snacks at barrier beets, saw a seagull flying with a crab, got dinner at Gino’s pizza.

Ty for all the love and support behind it. and if you were on the fence, come next time!

Any homeowners insurance recommendations for north shore Suffolk?

I’m in contract on a home in Suffolk and it’s proving difficult to find homeowners insurance? State Farm says they don’t even offer policies to the area, and the quotes we have received are like $4,000+ yearly premiums. That seems insane?! It’s not far from the north shore beaches but it’s elevated land, not in a flood zone, with 0 prior history of flooding. The roof is a little older but still functional which I’m sure is the case for a lot of homes on the market in that area. Recommendations?

Edit to add: Approx 1800 sq feet size of the home.

Commack/Smithtown/Northport/East Northport/Kings Park area

What’s it like living in the towns in this area? Schools? Safety? All of that. Thinking about buying a home soon and these areas seem nice while being more affordable than other nice areas.

Need dental recommendation

Why is it that all these dental groups like The Smilist

or Dental 360 push for these extensive dental procedures? I have 2 cavities in my front teeth, and they’re automatically pushing for crowns and bridges. I think the tooth can be saved with a filling, I’m not in any pain.

Can you recommend someone in Suffolk preferably the south shore that won’t rip me off?

Is switching to solar worth it for my situation? All existing ACs and oil fired systems are aging out at the same time and need replacement soon.

I just purchased a home on Long Island NY and it all runs off oil. Gas is not an option for 5 more years. All of my current systems are aging but I'm told are top of the line and could last 5 or more years by the person who did the home inspection.

I've read theories that solar install prices will go down now that the federal credit is gone, but this might not happen before I need to start replacing my existing system. It seems like solar is less beneficial without this credit, however I'm in a unique situation where most things need to be replaced soon.

I currently have the following

- Bock oil fired water heater estimated to be 30 years old

- Weil McLain oil fired furnace estimated at 30 plus years old which runs baseboard heating

- 2 carrier AC units approximately 18-19 years old

My concern is if they start failing I will have to replace them with a newer option that favors oil as fuel since that's what I have currently. If I go with solar or not, I'll likely need to replace all of these things in the next few years.

The home is 2,600 square feet plus a basement.

Any guidance is appreciated!

Ceramic statue restoration

Hi, posting for my mom. My dad has this Irish ceramic statue that has seen better days. He passed almost six years ago suddenly and my mom doesn’t trust herself to repaint it. Is there a company or business that would repaint this? Photo of what it looks like now and what she wants it to be

Any ideas where to take my 80 year old Mother today?

She is visiting from Florida and we are looking for things to do in western Suffolk/eastern Nassau. She walks ok but not able to hike a long distance. Indoors or outdoors would be good. It's much colder than she is used to but short amounts of time outside is fine. There isn't anything she doesn't like so any suggestions would be great. Thank you

Lynbrook Dog Owners, Can We Please Do Better?

Just rescued a small dog recently and started taking him on regular walks around Lynbrook. I always clean up after him, but wow, I’ve ended up picking up way more than just my dog’s mess. There’s poop all over the neighborhood.

Come on, people… we can do better than this. It’s not that hard to bring a bag and clean up after your dog. It keeps the area nicer for everyone (and way less gross for those of us trying to be responsible).

If you have a dog, please pick up after it. Simple as that.

Survey shows shocking number of Long Islanders believe Jews need to just ‘move on’ from ‘exaggerated’ Holocaust

This was very surprising. I know this is from the post but it does not change the survey results. That's all I'm going to say

https://nypost.com/2026/04/19/us-news/long-islanders-believe-jews-need-to-just-move-on-from-exaggerated-holocaust-survey?utm\_source=nypost&utm\_campaign=android\_nyp&utm\_medium=social

Nearly a third of Long Island residents don’t believe the Holocaust should be required teaching and suggest Jews just “move on” from the “exaggerated” genocide, according to a shocking new survey.

The survey of roughly 400 Long Islanders revealed that a disturbing number of Nassau and Suffolk county residents believe Holocaust deaths have been exaggerated, with even more outright opposing the horror be part of required curriculum in schools.

“The survey is intended to provide a roadmap for all of us — regardless of faith or ethnicity — because indifference or ignorance of how the Holocaust occurred threatens everyone,” said Steven Krieger, a Long Island-based real-estate developer who helped fund the study conducted by national conservative pollster McLaughlin Associates

Are there any restaurants on Long Island that have vanilla cake as a dessert option in Nassau county?

I don’t understand the hype with chocolate cake, vanilla is superior.
