Converting Single Tap to Dual Tap: Gas Line Placement Issue

Alright so I recently decided to upgrade my Edgestar KC2000A single tap kegerator to a dual-tap tower. I plan to have beer on one and a carbonated cocktail in a corny keg for the other, so the kegs need to be at different pressure. I’ve already installed the dual-tap tower and a dual-stage regulator. I have the corny keg and ball lock connectors.

The only issue I’m facing is where to run a second gas line. My model of kegerator has a hole large enough for just the one gas line. I’d prefer not to drill into the fridge unless I’m SURE there’s nothing important I’d be drilling through. There does seem to be an “indent” where the current gas line hole is, but I can’t find any info regarding drilling there. I don’t want to brick my fridge.

Other options I’m considering are drilling a hole through the back of the tower itself (I have enough space there to run the line through it) or perhaps filing/drilling a gap in the tower’s baseplate and running it through there. Obviously there’s an aesthetic concern here, but that’s less important to me than guaranteeing my setup functions.

Any ideas? What simple solution am I too dumb to have considered?

Kegerator with display

My kegerator is a full size fridge with four corny kegs in it and Perlick taps mounted on the door. Magnet mounted a Galaxy tab to show what's on tap. Manual pour registration for now, but next step will be flow sensors or weight sensors for automatic pour tracking. Would love to hear about any experiences if anyone has done this before!

Kegerator too cold

I bought a used Newair kegerator. I didn't measure it but pretty sure the serial I googled the first time I took a look at this indicated it was the 5.8cu ft one. Basically the first result that pops up on amazon, not that means anything.

It runs too cold. I ran it with my water keg for carbonating and some spare soda cans and it froze both over the course of a weekend. I left it at the temp of 42 it defaults to when first plugged in, and after hearing cans freezing I tried upping the temp and it never settled down.

I unplugged it and let everything thaw and started it back up with an independent thermometer inside and it was reading 32 when set to 42.

I searched model number and can honestly not find Newair replacement parts for a kegerator; I think the issue is the internal sensor isn't reading the temp inside correctly so it's overworking and freezing. I did find what looks like a small white capsule probe behind a plastic vent inside, and looking for general kegerator replacement parts looks an awful lot like what I think is the problem.(Thermister or Thermostat?)

Are parts going to generally be interchangeable? Is that the first step? Thanks for the guidance on next steps.

Is anyone here running nitro coffee through a kegerator long term?

I mainly built my kegerator for beer but lately i am experimenting more with coffee because i stopped drinking alcohol during weekdays. Thought it would be simple swap. Turns out not really simple.

I converted one tap to a Nitro Cold brew coffee maker setup using a small nitrogen tank instead of CO2. First mistake I made was assuming my beer settings would work the same. Nope. Coffee behaves completely different. Foam looked amazing first day then next morning it poured flat like sad iced coffee.

…I learned the hard way that line length and pressure matter more than I expected. I run about 35 PSI now and use a stout faucet. Before that I was getting bubbles too big, almost soda looking. Also had to deep clean lines because coffee oils build up faster than beer residue.

Funny thing, I actually found some spare fittings from a random alibaba order I made years ago when I was buying keg washers. Some parts were surprisingly good quality, others honestly felt like metal toys. One disconnect literally started leaking after two weeks so mixed experience there.

The temperature also confused me. Beer was okay at 36F but coffee taste stopped that cold. I now keep that keg slightly warmer around 40F and the flavor improved a lot.

Anyone else running both beer and nitro coffee on the same system? Do you dedicate separate lines permanently or just swap kegs? I am trying not to rebuild the whole tower again.

Kevin the Kegerator - Tap a new keg video

I had a few requests to share a video of kicking an old keg and tapping a new keg. Let me know what you think. I am in the process of cleaning up my code to push to GitHub.

New to Me Kegerator Help

Recently acquired a Danby DCK645BLS.

It sat for over a year. I have a keg with it, some liquid still in it, and a co2 tank.

What should I replace? Where should I shop? I see a ton of listings but just want to get it right, if anyone knows a complete kit or can point me towards the correct places to pick them up I would appreciate it.

Leaking CO2 from line going into soda keg…

I’m wasting expensive CO2 because it leaks from both the too of my keg and the red line going into the keg where it meets the female keg adapter (sorry for wrong terminology, newbie here). Any suggestions?

Need help picking a kegerator

Getting a bar built in our basement using standard cabinetry. I would like to replace the circled cabinet with a kegerator with a tap tower that goes through the countertop. We were possibly going with a smaller 24" wide cabinet instead of a 30" wide, so a kegerator would work in place of a cabinet. Any and all ideas are welcome. I'm hoping to not spend too much money because the basement remodel is costing me allot already.

Question for the 3D printers in the group

I'm looking to update my fridge that was made into a kegorator several years back, because I'm not happy with certain things, and initially thought I would completely remove the entire ice/water dispencer, replace it with some wood that had been stained and sealed.

But that got me thinking... would it actually be more effecient if I 3D printed something custom and used something like insulating foam inside of that? Just looking for some thoughts.

Insignia Kegerator too warm SIMPLE FIX

Just figured I'd share as there isn't tons of testimonial/help out there for these units.

I have an insignia I purchased from Best Buy some 7 or 8 years ago. Haven't used it in 6 or so!

Fired it up. Temperature wouldn't go below 40 for long. Fluxtuated to 36 barely ever.

To fix this, I removed the plastic housing for the thermostat (settings choosing 1 through 6).

On top of my thermostat there's a screw. Turn counter clockwise.

This worked perfectly. Appears the screw was a governpr of sorts to ensure the unit couldnt accidentally freeze on people. Getting super cold. Now, it can get too cold and freeze if you aren't careful!

So what I then did was order an Inkbird temperature controller, $25.

I have my kegerator plugged into the cooling outlet on the unit, unit plugged into power strip.

Set preferred temperature to 37f, have probe in a glass of water on top of keg.

I have coors light, ideal serving temp is 34-38. 37 on top should give me 32 to 33 at bottom, and 35 to 36 in middle.

I also set it up so compressor turns on when it gets to 39 degrees, so it won't just run constantly.

All in all, a very simple fix that was a little tough for me to find info on, so figured I'd share my experience.

Here's a short video I made showing the thermostat screw and how I accessed and did it.

UK under counter 50l Keg Fridge?

Can anyone recommend an under counter fridge that will hold a 50l keg (preferably with room to also add a 2kg co2 cyclinder - But I can cope with that being outside if needed) for sale in the UK?
I know there are specific kegerators you can buy, but I'm hoping to find a fridge that I can convert (even if I need to start removing moldings).
Do they exist? I know a lot of people use the smaller corny kegs and the whole home brew scene, but I am specifically looking to house a single 50l keg.
Massive bonus if I can also feel some casters to it with relative ease.
