Insignia Kegerator too warm SIMPLE FIX

Just figured I'd share as there isn't tons of testimonial/help out there for these units.

I have an insignia I purchased from Best Buy some 7 or 8 years ago. Haven't used it in 6 or so!

Fired it up. Temperature wouldn't go below 40 for long. Fluxtuated to 36 barely ever.

To fix this, I removed the plastic housing for the thermostat (settings choosing 1 through 6).

On top of my thermostat there's a screw. Turn counter clockwise.

This worked perfectly. Appears the screw was a governpr of sorts to ensure the unit couldnt accidentally freeze on people. Getting super cold. Now, it can get too cold and freeze if you aren't careful!

So what I then did was order an Inkbird temperature controller, $25.

I have my kegerator plugged into the cooling outlet on the unit, unit plugged into power strip.

Set preferred temperature to 37f, have probe in a glass of water on top of keg.

I have coors light, ideal serving temp is 34-38. 37 on top should give me 32 to 33 at bottom, and 35 to 36 in middle.

I also set it up so compressor turns on when it gets to 39 degrees, so it won't just run constantly.

All in all, a very simple fix that was a little tough for me to find info on, so figured I'd share my experience.

Here's a short video I made showing the thermostat screw and how I accessed and did it.
