Finding experts for a journalistic article

Hello all, I hope this in not an inappropriate post to make here, but if so please do let me know.

I am a journalism student and am currently writing my bachelors thesis on my country's national news coverage of the current war. In addition to the thesis paper I am required to do a journalistic production.

Besides journalism I minored in history and am thus very interested in writing a sort of explainer article about Iranian history. Obviously this is very broad, but specifically I would like to approach it as an article that can provide understanding for how the current political situation in Iran came to be (not talking about the war here, but more so within the country's boarders).

I also would like to include an approach of what implications the past has for the future of Iran and its people.

Does anyone here have suggestions for any experts that I could reach out to for an interview? The thesis is a group project and my group mates are all doing more individual case articles with stories from Iranians and I would like my contribution to add more broad context to their stories.

I am coming at this task with curiosity and compassion for all humans as my primary values and truly seek an informational approach so there are no hidden agendas here. I hope someone here can point me in the right direction.

Thank you so much for your time reading this if you did and any suggestions you might have!

I would need any sources I speak with to speak English well, but other than that I am mostly looking to ask some smart people questions so I can hopefully spread further understanding for what's going on

Debunking the United States' top 5 propaganda points on Iran

There is a lot of propaganda regarding Iran pushed by the US and for those of us that are in the know, I felt its important to get some of the basics out for the world's benefit. Do your own research.

  • Iran is the "Leading State Sponsor of Terrorism" - Most terrorism isn't "state sponsored", there isn't even an agreed upon definition of what terrorism is. This is a psyops by the United States State Department to tell you who to hate. Most civilians are killed by war/sanctions not terrorism (we know who digs that).
  • The Arabian Gulf vs. the Persian Gulf - Like the "Gulf of America", the Arabian Gulf doesn't exist. The Persian Gulf is one of the old named bodies of water in human history. The Arabian Sea, next door, is already named for Arabs. The US military uses a propaganda term.
  • Iran is a Theocracy - Actually its not. This is also propaganda to taint impressions of Americans. Iran has a functioning Parliament that is not filled with priests. The SL is a man of religion but Iran is usually run by a consensus committee. The only true Theocracy in 2026 is actually the Vatican.
  • Iranians Chant "Death to America" and "Death to Israel" - This is a euphemism among Persian language speakers, purposely mistranslated by the CIA and US. They are not calling literally for Death. Its like saying "Fuck America". They also say "Death to Traffic"
  • The Straights of Hormuz are "International Waters" - Demonstrably false. Iran's territorial waters extend to the point of Oman/UAE's territorial waters. A nation's border extends 12 miles off its coast. The straights are 21 miles wide. It would have to be at least 25 miles in width for there to be international waters. You are exactly 4 miles short.

A Nigerian visiting Iram

Iran is one of the countries I hope to visit, especially for its role in civilization history, and the resiliency of her people in the face of targeted attacks.

How's it like visiting Iran as a black African. Are there black communities or African restaurants?

Will there be any kind of language barrier for an English speaker? What advisable places are there to visit. Thanks in advance for your time 😊

How will the enriched nuclear material Iran is perceived to hold ever be found and seized?

The U.S.A is frustrated by the indifference Iran is showing to demands to turn over the enriched bomb grade uranium. There are two issues I see:

1 - Who really knows the amount? Iran has made a claim, but nobody outside Iran itself knows the veracity of the figure. If the U.S. has no credible knowledge of the amount involved, it would never be certain that Iran turned it all over.

2 - The amount involved is quite compact. Given the density of uranium, it could likely fit inside a typical cedar chest. Even an invasion of Iran would put the recovery objective into a classic needle in a haystack task. Furthermore, nothing prevents Iran from subdividing the uranium into small lots and stashing bits and pieces in a hundred or more locations in vessels the size of a piggy bank.

I don't like the idea of Iran holding bomb grade uranium, but a war to retrieve it seems futile.

US wants to risk UAE troops instead, in the invasion of Iran that the US started. Israel-levels of cowardice! 🤦‍♂️

While Israel gladly fights to the last American, the US gladly fights to the last Emirati. 🤦‍♂️

"Trump admin. urging UAE to seize Iran's Lavan Island, take greater role in war - report

A former senior Trump security official told the Telegraph that using UAE forces would avoid putting US troops in the line of fire.

“Go take ’em!” the official said. “It would be UAE boots on the ground instead of the US.”

...

It was also recently disclosed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the UAE in March at the beginning of Operation Roaring Lion, and that talks produced a “significant breakthrough,” though Abu Dhabi denied the visit took place.

Dr. Burcu Ozcelik, a researcher at the Royal United Services Institute, a defense and security think tank, was cited in the Telegraph as stating that the war has “accelerated a US-Israel-UAE alignment.” However, Dr. Ozcelik added that this new alignment and deeper military cooperation with Israel could lead other Arab states to view the Emirates as complicit in Israel’s campaign in Gaza."

Road trip to Iran as American citizen?

I am traveling with my car (Volkswagen, not American made) over the summer and figured Iran would make a good stop. I am Albanian Muslim and have dual loyalty to Kosovo, if that helps. Am I going to have issues at the border?

Pentagon quietly shut legally required program to prevent civilian deaths by military, watchdog finds. Trump administration accused of cutting military’s civilian harm program in light of US strike on girls school in Iran.

The Pentagon has quietly dismantled a program it is legally required to operate to prevent and respond to civilian deaths in US military operations, according to its internal watchdog.

Donald Trump’s administration has been accused of making deep cuts to the Pentagon’s civilian harm mitigation and response (CHMR) program, designed to handle training and procedures critical in limiting civilian harm in theaters of war.
