Just finished We Ride Flanders — proud moment 🚴‍♂️

Just completed the We Ride Flanders ride and honestly, I’m feeling incredibly proud right now 🇧🇪🚴‍♂️

It wasn’t easy, the distance, the climbs, the wind, everything tests you. But that’s what makes cycling so special. It pushes you mentally just as much as physically.

To everyone out there riding, whether it’s 10 km or 100 km, keep going. Progress is progress. Show up, stay consistent, and enjoy the journey.

We all start somewhere, and every ride counts.

Keep pedalin

I think the number of casual cyclists wearing helmets is very low in India!

Why do Indians not care about safety, especially while riding two wheelers?

Hybrid bike suggestion under 50K (back injury / disc bulge)

Hey everyone,

I’m 26M, 180 cm, ~90 kg. I had a lower back injury in the gym (L5-S1 disc bulge), and lifting has been inconsistent for almost a year now — every time I try to get back seriously, it flares up.

Walking feels fine, but I want something a bit more engaging and sustainable for fitness, so I’m planning to start cycling.

From what I’ve understood, a hybrid bike with upright geometry would be better for my back (instead of aggressive road bikes).

Looking for:

  • Budget: up to ₹50K
  • Comfortable / upright posture (important for my back)
  • Suitable for Indian roads (potholes, uneven surfaces)
  • Low strain while pedaling (don’t want to load my lower back too much)

I’m not looking for speed — comfort and consistency matter more.

Would love some suggestions.

Also, if anyone has experience cycling with a disc bulge / SI joint issues, would really appreciate your input.

Thanks!

MY FIRST RIDE. BUT THERE WERE ISSUES...

Hey everyone! I’m new to both cycling and this subreddit, so I’d really appreciate your guidance on a few things.

After seeing multiple recommendations here for a budget-friendly and value-for-money cycle (as suggested by u/Zilork ), I decided to go with the RS120. This is my first cycle ever, and today was my first ride in nearly two decades.

Overall, the experience was great and much easier than I expected. I genuinely enjoyed it.

However, I did face some issues with gear shifting.

The default gear worked perfectly fine, and the cycle rode smoothly on it. When I shifted up to the next gear, I noticed a slight discomfort—though I’m guessing that might just be because I’m new to using gears. But as I continued to upshift, I felt like pedaling required almost no effort at all. The pedals became extremely light, and at one point it felt like I wasn’t pedaling meaningfully anymore.

When downshifting, I noticed that once I returned to the default gear, the trigger became loose, which the Decathlon staff had already mentioned would happen. However, out of instinct, I pressed the already loose trigger once more, and the chain derailed, causing the cycle to stop. I then put the chain back in place.

Was pressing the already loose trigger the reason the chain came off?

Also, while downshifting at another point, the chain derailed again. I had to stop and fix it by backpedaling. Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong?

Despite these issues, I really enjoyed the ride and am excited to keep cycling. Would appreciate any advice or tips you can share!

Do you watch Paris-Roubaix?

The Hell of the North. 🪨

258 km. 30 sectors of ancient cobblestones. One trophy that looks like a brick.

This is Paris-Roubaix — the most brutal one-day race in cycling. And this Sunday, it gets personal.

🇳🇱** Mathieu van der Poel has won it 3 times in a row. He's chasing a 4th. In 123 years, NO ONE has ever done that**.

🇸🇮** Tadej Pogačar has already won 2 Monuments this spring. He needs Roubaix to complete all 5. He's never won here**.

One race. Two legends. History on the line.

This Sunday's race is unmissable.

Confused between Hercules Hank (sold online) v Hercules Griffin (in store)

I saw Griffin in a physical store and it looked really awesome with the disk brakes, shock absorbers and nice finish. But keeping in mind that I’ll be a very casual/occasional rider, I am also considering a cheaper option - Hercules Hank being sold on Flipkart that comes with normal brakes and frame. ChatGPT suggests that I should go with Hank since it is at half the price of Griffin, but I’m slightly concerned about the quality of the cycle if bought online.

Would appreciate any owner feedback/experience that could help me with decision making. Thank you.
