Pack question
Hello GCers, I love my Gregory pack. 3 years old, over 30 days in the GC. The netting on the bottom of the exterior bottle holder is taking a beating. Would appreciate repair suggestions. TIA. Kevlar

Hi there, I’m taking my 10-year-old son on a 5-day trip out West and would love a quick sanity check from folks who know these parks well. Trying to balance “wow” moments with not overdoing it. Last days of May/first of June
Day 1 (Sat May 30th):
Fly into Vegas in the morning, then drive to the Zion area. Hoping to squeeze in a short scenic hike that evening if energy allows.
Day 2 (Sun):
Early start in Zion, planning to do the Narrows (bottom-up) and then keep the afternoon pretty relaxed (picnic, light exploring, early night).
Day 3 (Mon):
Drive from Zion to Grand Canyon South Rim. Planning a couple of key stops (Desert View + Mather Point) and a short walk along the rim, then continue on to stay near Peach Springs. This is a long day of driving, I know.
Day 4 (Tue):
All-day rafting trip on the Colorado River (Hualapai) with a helicopter exit...crash in desert Airbnb with stargazing.
Day 5 (Wed):
sleep in. Drive back to Vegas and fly home in the afternoon.
Flights and rafting trip are booked already, so those are fixed. What's the 1 top tip or insight you would add if doing this trip?
We are visiting end of September and will be there for half a day. Any must see spots with a 10 yr old?
Thanks
What would be a better trip when coming from Bryce Canyon?
Leave Bryce early morning and go see north rim of Grand Canyon. Drive back to Kanab stay then night . Wake up drive to Las Vegas?
Leave Bryce early morning drive majority of day to Grand Canyon. Stay in area. Wake up drive to Las Vegas?
Has anyone done sunset at either the resthouse or Havasupai gardens and then hiked back up in dusk/dark? We’re experienced hikers but I’ve never hiked at night before. We have headlamps.
We’re doing South Kaibab trail at sunrise, chilling at hotel until late afternoon, then I’d like to do Bright Angel at sunset, being at the turn around point at sunset. Going next week!
Hey guys, so i have spent the last few weeks applying to various xanterra parks and getting my
Hopes up about working there. Holy does this sub scare me lol. I am now reconsidering going through with it, but hypothetically if i DID go through with it i would be getting a job at the grand hotel in the Grand Canyon in AZ. In my interview the lady said i would have a “normal oral 4 panel drug test,” and i have done various research and see that can mean it is a THC test or a non THC test. Obviously i smoke weed lol should i just ask what the substances are or has anyone done this test recently and know if it is THC or NO THC? Also please feel free to message me with good or bad experiences about why i should or shouldn’t work here, and if you know any other good kinda travel jobs like this if it is bad lol. Thank you!!!!!
Hi all: next few days temps seem to be in 70 to 80 range ( considering both phantom ranch and grand canyon village). Can I take whole day to finish this hike ( heard that in warmer temp is recommended that one should be done by 10 am). I am in late fifties. Want to do it to celebrate a milestone- not super fit but recently completed 10 mile 2800 ft climb mile hike ( classified as strenuous on AllTrail) in bay area with no problems in about 6 hrs. Advice appreciated. thank you.
I'm looking to do an 2 day tour of hoover dam + grand canyon south rim (for the sunset). Can anyone recommend any good tour guides that can offer this? I found a couple online but they didnt have both places. thanks :)
We are planning to visit the Southwest National Parks Loop (Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Antelope Canyon, and the Grand Canyon) from May 17 to May 23.
This will be our first time visiting Zion National Park. Our flight arrives in Las Vegas around noon, so we expect to reach Zion at about 6:00 PM. The next day, we plan to hike Angels Landing in the morning and then explore more of the park afterward.
We are planning to drive to Bryce Canyon National Park in the late afternoon, since we have a hotel booked there for the night of May 18.
I’m wondering if one day in Zion (actually less than a full day) is enough. After reading many reviews, I’m starting to regret that we are only staying one night.
I also have questions about what kind of clothing to bring. Will it still be cold in the morning in late May?
Here is what I’m planning to pack:
.Short-sleeve hiking T-shirt
.Long-sleeve hiking shirt
.Light, breathable jacket
.Hiking shorts
.Hiking pants (Do I need warmer, cold-weather hiking pants?)
.Windproof, breathable jacket
.Sun hat (Do I also need a warmer hat?), sunglasses, hiking boots, and hiking socks
Thank you in advance for any advice!
Hello. Are the rangers at the gates at 5:30-6am? I am planning on going in December and trying to plan what time is the latest to get there to make sunrise. If they are not there can I just drive in and pay on the way out?
Hello, me and my girlfriend are going to the Grand Canyon next week and it was just announced they are holding water from the Mather point campground! Anyone have suggestions specifically where we can do showers? I suggested portable but long story short, if there is any alternative let me know lol
I want to visit Grand Canyon South Rim with 3 non-resident family members (2 adults, 1 child). I have a valid US drivers license (on a valid US work visa). I would like to have some clarity on non-resident fees. I think I'll be eligible for the one-time standard resident pass of $35 and the 10 year old child should be exempt from any entrance fees. I have 2 options:
Plan to see the Grand Canyon (South rim) on Sunday 3rd May with family, who are beginner hikers (so beginner/easy hikes recommendations please). Plan to spend about 3-4 hours here, what would you guys suggest we do?
Is it simple case of parking my car at the parking lot, then on foot for the rest? Or do I need to park at different locations if I wish to do different trails/viewpoints?
My wife and I will be visiting Phoenix in May and we couldn’t decide between the Grand Canyon (my choice!) or Petrified Forest (her choice!) and really only had time for one. So we compromised and are fitting both in. 😆
We are doing it this way anyway, so any tips and tricks on what are must stops or tips to enhance the trip are appreciated! She has a lot of health issues that prevent anything more than light hiking.
• Fly into Phoenix at 10:30 am on a Sunday and get rental car.
• Drive to south rim of the Grand Canyon where we have a hotel. Do some light hiking and view the sunset before heading to hotel to rest.
• Get up early and watch the sunrise at the canyon.
• Start the drive to the petrified forest, stopping at viewpoints along the way. (We love roadside attractions so I’m hoping to find a few of those too.)
• Drive around the park until dusk.
• Return to Phoenix.
Thanks in advance for any help!
We are going to be doing some sightseeing and short hikes, he likes being outdoors. We have dinners early.
I have been to the grand canyon before but I can't remember if there is enough to do to occupy 3 full nights or if we need to scale it back to 2 or 1. What do you do other than quick hikes around the canyon?
We will be staying at the Canyon right next to Tovar at Kachina.
Thanks!
STAYING IN TUSAYAN, HOW TO GET TO GRAND CANYON VILLAGE SOUTHRIM IF i WON'T HAVE ACCESS TO A CAR? IS THERE UBER/LYFT OR TAXI? WHAT ABOUT ANY SHUTTLES?
SECOND QUESTION IS IT POSSIBLE TO RENT AN E-BIKE FOR THEDAY IN TUSUYAN AND RIDE IT IN THE GRAND CANTON PARK ON THE TRAILS? LIKE ARE THERE TRAILS WHICH ALLOW THAT AND IS IT ECEN WORTH DOING?
THANKS!!
My husband wants to take me on a bday trip and I’d love Grand Canyon. I’ve been there once in my early twenties with my friend so it was obviously best time ever since we were both single and no kids.
One thing I’ve learned as a mom is that I have to set my expectations low. How should I plan this trip so that everyone is happy? We probably won’t be doing any crazy hikes. I might go hiking but my husband and son will stay behind. Are there any kids attractions near by outside of seeing the most beautiful place in the world?
We are flying to Las Vegas and we are staying there to visit friends, then we rent a car to drive to Grand Canyon. We also want to see Horseshoe Bend and antelope Canyon as well. I’m so lost as how to plan everything
Spent 3 days in the canyon recently. Loved every minute. Especially the Clear Creek trail.
Wife and I will be traveling with a 6 and 12 year old so not doing hiking other than the Grand Canyon day. Landing at 11am on the first day then driving to page. Is 2 nights in page too much? And anything other suggestions would be appreciated
As of April 19 I understand that the spigots at the campground are off and only dry camping allowed. However is it possible to fill 5 gallon containers faucets in the bathrooms? Or is it possible to Mcgyver a hose to connect a sink spigot?
