I finally don’t hate my hair! It has been a journey since I decided to get the chop in February. 2nd pic is from before. I initially got a blunt lob, but I wasn’t in love with it and had a hard time styling it and making it work for my head shape. Then I went to a new stylist who had a more alternative aesthetic and knows how to do razor cuts* and air dry styling on wavy/curly hair, and she shortened it a bit more and added in some layers. And oh yeah! I found out I didn’t have pin-straight hair! It has a bit of a wave to it (which I probably amplify a bit with scrunching). I am still learning how to style it…lots of trial and error…but this pic is my second day hair. Big thanks to the many people in this sub for inspiration and help with products and routine!!!

*she didn’t use a razor because of my hair being fine and thin, but used her super sharp scissors in that style.

No one told me how thin it was!

I’ve always had thin and fine hair, as well as a fair amount of shedding but no one told me how bad it was! My fiancé said he’s never noticed, I do wear my hair up a lot but not at home!

I feel like crying 😭

I’ve had one lot of blood tests done and from what I can tell, my ferritin is low but still in normal range. Thyroid and vitamin D are fine.
I’m going back next week for a repeat test.
I don’t even know why I’m posting, I just feel shit.
I don’t think even a topper could help at this point as there’s nothing to clip to!

I feel like this community can be pretty negative because our hair is not the beauty standard and is hard to take care of so I wanted to show how much prettier my hair has gotten with the right care!

First photo is from today, may 2026 and the second from november 2025

I cut all the gross parts off (and cried because I felt like I lost so much length progress, but now I trim the ends every 2 months or so), started being very careful and gentle with it and found products that work for me, I still have a long way to go and have things to improve but I’m no longer depressed about my hair and am actually proud of myself

Hi everyone,

As the title mentions it, I have dry thin hair and idk what to do anymore to hydrate and grow it. My scalp gets oily within a day, but my ends look "puffy" and dry all the time. No I do not have wavy hair. I did bleach it once last year for a balayage and immediately regreted it and returned to my OG color within 3 months. I use the OUAI detox shampoo every 3-4 washes and I use a dove conditionair. I have used the gisou hair conditionair and fino one as well in the past with very little results. I am pregnant fyi. Any advice would be welcome to make it softer and grow it faster. Btw this is my hair after being airdried and brushed.

I’m planning to ask for this cut at my next appointment. My hair is the same color and texture. Seeing celebs rock their fine thin hair gives me some confidence!

Just got my new topper and wanted to share! I saw another post a couple months ago so I wanted to share another example!

Hi everyone! I have always had fine stranded hair, but do you guys think I also have thin hair? My part seems to show a decent amount of scalp on my opinion, but I would love your input. Thank you!

Need major hair help!!!

All of these pictures are within a few hours of washing, some are different days.

My hair is:

Fine, thin

Very damaged

Greasy, quickly, easily ( can be greasy out of shower or within a few hours)

Ends are crap

Low porosity I believe

I trim every 6 weeks( I don't want to go any shorter than it is, it's already getting shorter than I'd like)

Sleep on silk pillowcase

Shampoo scalp only( 2-3 times)

Rinse foreverrrrrrrrrr

Conditioner ends only, when i squish Conditioner in, it suds up.

Leave in multi purpose spray ( has heat protectant)

Blowdry is only heat, seems like it takes awhile to get dry.

Clarifying shampoo Once a week

Moisture mask once a week

In the morning, it looks like I haven't washed my hair in weeks. It's so heavy feeling and uncomfortable so often.

One side is worse than other for thinness and greasiness.

Anything I've tried seems like it just sits on top of hair and doesn't penetrate hair( such as oils, serums, masks, treatments) , no, I'm not piling on products, I'm talking things I've tried over the past few years.

I've tried dozens of different shampoos, I give them a chance to start to " work".. I've tried with silicones, without silicones, with sulfates, without sulfates...

Ive talked to 4 different hair dressers, none have any idea what my hair needs, only suggestion I've gotten is to use shampoo only but I dont see how that will help the crap ends and all the damage.

I'm at a loss, I don't need thick, long hair... I just want clean, undamaged hair 😩 I'm tired of looking like i don't take care of it, when that's so far from the truth, I've researched for hours and hours.. any idea?? What it needs??

30F. Always had fine hair now potentially balding? I’ve noticed a severe increase in hair loss. Finding balls of hair all around my house; on the floor, in the laundry, in the bed.

Has anyone experienced something similar? I’ve been under some intense stress lately so perhaps that’s the cause.

I’m assuming the best course of action is to go to FP and request blood panel/hormone check? Located in Canada so it may take a while to get an appointment. In the meantime I intend on starting oral Minoxidil as I’m incredibly paranoid about my dog coming into contact with the topical version.

Help please! Need some haircut recommendations

Hello! This is my first time posting here. I’m very self conscious so I’ve hidden my face.

I’ve been struggling with my hair for a few years now. I hate it. My hair gets greasy on the top and dry on the ends. It’s getting harder to brush out the knots even with leave in conditioner. I’ve been on oral minoxidil for almost a year now. Im not sure if I really see a difference but family tells me otherwise. I’m sorry if this is all unnecessary information. I’m just so fed up and don’t know what to do anymore.

But I’d really love if anyone could help me with some haircut recommendations. I don’t really want to go shorter than my shoulders. If you have any pictures for reference that would be great. Thank you in advance!

With spring and summer approaching, I’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a scalp sunscreen? Preferably one that doesn’t clog hair follicles or weigh fine + thin hair down.

Would any of these work for me?

I have always had extremely fine thin hair, and it seems like it’s getting thinner as I age. I’m 47. Always been a middle part hippie long hair girl. We are headed out for a vacation and I really want to change it up, I hate the way I look when I pull my hair back. I don’t blow dry or style my hair as it just doesn’t even hold any curl or anything it always wants to be straight.. looking for something fun and easy to maintain and I’m leaning towards the bixie style but with bangs that are longer, I can’t stand hair in my face or on my glasses.. what’s everyone’s thoughts?? Thanks!!

Hi, I’ve searched through all the posts and it seems Halo hair is recommended most for our fine hair so clip-in bumps don’t show.
When trying the Halo, I have dark hair and can see an obvious fishing line looking string going across the top of my head no matter how I part my hair over it you still see a piece. I am wondering what I am doing wrong no one mentions this. Thanks for your help

These are AI generated images of the hairstyle I'm getting on Saturday. I'm having a hard time deciding whether I want to keep my hair dark or go blonde since I'm starting to go grey. Which one is better!? My eyes are green.

I like to think I'm not easily influenced by celebs, but I have to confess that the more I become a fan of Hayden Anhedönia (known by her band name Ethel Cain), the more I am accepting and even appreciating my hair.

She's ultra talented and beautiful, so it's not surprising that it's boosting my confidence, but it got me wondering...

What other current artists, actors, etc are helping you embrace your fine, thin hair?

Has anyone had success with a mullet?

Looking at new hairstyle options. My hair is currently above shoulder length but it’s poker straight and I’m bored of it. Would any of these styles work do you think? First photo is me!

Rosemary!

Rosemary! That is all. Products w rosemary have helped my hair so much! It’s growing longer, is shinier and sparse spots grew more dense. I have a rosemary spray I put on at night and trying out various shampoos and conditioners w rosemary in them. Had to share!

Hi all! I have incredibly thin hair. It never used to be this way, but over the years it just got progressively thinner. (I’m 26F) I have an under-active thyroid and have been on medication to treat that since 2019. It has been stable ever since, but the thinning continues. I even went to a trichologist and was prescribed a serum that was supposed to increase thickness. Spoiler alert: it has not. My doctor recently started me on some iron supplements to see if that would also help, as he was alarmed and confused as to why my hair is so thin. My hair is naturally wavy, and I will admit I do straighten it when going out, as it always dries very frizzy and somewhat straight because of the blow-drying. I’m not sure of any products to use so I can wear my natural waves. I always do extensive research on any products I use on my hair, as the majority contain harmful ingredients that would just end up making the situation worse. I’m currently using Re:GRO Anti-Thinning Shampoo and conditioner by California Naturals. I ran it through the hair product analyser site I use, and all the ingredients are safe, so I was happy with using it. This is the fourth different shampoo and conditioner I have tried. All seem to dry out my hair, and I end up using aloe vera on my scalp to try and moisturise it. Nothing seems to help my hair grow, and it causes me so many self-esteem issues, and I constantly feel like I need to wear a hat to hide my hair. When I say it’s thin, I mean you can literally see my scalp. I know wearing hats isn’t helpful, but it calms my worries when it’s hidden from view. I also use a silky cooling pillowcase to prevent damage during the night. I am running out of ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions that could help? Thank you so much in advance.
