1st pic - dry
2nd pic - freshly washed
3rd pic - wash and go
I have a photo of when I style it and of when I got it done at the salon. I’m super curious!!
Most of the time I finger curl my hair but I believe the first and second one is without product but honestly I feel like the product doesn’t make a difference of how my hair curls
this is “4C” hair. i tried to hide their face to protect their privacy and prevent any type of rude comments etc especially when the focus is on their beautiful gorgeous lush long thick hair. Go support black creators
I have naturally dry hair (low porosity) and I think my strands are fine smaller than most 4 hair types idk. I’m guessing I may be 4a or 4b. All the 4c wavers I’ve seen have smaller and tighter wave patterns. If u zoom in on my waves you can see what I mean.
My question is am I 4a or 4b or am I just 4c with thinner strands?
I think I am 4a or 4b? My crown is a bit sun damaged and grey which I think changes the texture a bit?
New wash shampoo
Pardon My Fro Detangling conditioner (I rinse this out)
Camille Rose leave in honey condition (I leave this in)
Pardon my fro curl enhancing cream
Pardon my fro mousse
Carol’s Daughter Hair Mimosa
I want my curls to be a bit juicier.. This pic is from wash day after I diffused, and it usually takes a few days for me to be happy with the curls.
For the first few days they feel a bit too light/boneless for my liking, so I am looking into a heavier gel to replace the mousse and potentially the oil I use (hair mimosa).
Hair mimosa replacement: Pardon My Fro Moisture milk
Mousse replacement: The doux honey butter gel
Any thoughts or suggestions?
is this sub for coily hair alone or anyone else? just asking cause there’s an influx of post from people who clearly don’t have coily hair asking if their hair is 4c which is ridiculous. also the amount of people equating dry, brushed out or unkempt/frizzy hair to 4c - it’s jarring and quite frankly feels like the antithesis of the supposed purpose of this sub
(originally posted in a different community but i figured here might be a little more helpful)
i’ve been trying to embrace my natural hair more, considering my entire life i’ve only worn it straight or in braids. my mother has relaxed hair, and has for as long as i remember, and my father is white and doesn’t have a clue 😭 i attached the second photo (it’s a really bad example so so sry) because the front of my hair tends to have way looser curls than the middle/back. i’m not sure if its natural or due to heat damage. (again im so sorry if these photos are bad examples, ive never done this lol)
if anyone could help me identify my hair type/give any constructive feedback at all, that would be great! thanks ❤️
Hi! I’m curious about your opinions on my hair texture/type? Can you tell density or porosity from the pictures?
My hair is coarse, and I rarely see my curl pattern unless it is soaking wet. This photo was taken when my hair was extremely moisturized, and this definition did not last very long. Even the hairstylist who moisturized it (a highly experienced senior stylist) told me that I have 4B hair.
Some people in this sub seem to think my hair is "clearly" 3b-3C and not coily which came as a huge shock to me. Based on this photo, does my hair still look like 3B–3C to you? Is this not coily?
I’m here to learn and better understand my hair, not to argue. Thanks.
You guys do know you can google what a coil looks like and you will see an image of that shape right? Like, just that word alone. That is all you have to do.
"Coily" hair pulls everything but that... because of questions like yours that flood the sub.
No, your heat damaged hair is not coily.
No, your dry brushed, damaged hair is not coily.
No, your chemically treated hair is not coily.
No, your very loose curls are not coily.
If you have to ask, likely the answer is no. There are subreddits that will happily tell you the answer you want, just not here.
Yes, my hair is coily. Yes it is also currently in locs. After ditching relaxers my hair texture became more apparent.
I have type 4 hair and whenever I try to define my hair, the front and back always look fine but the middle/top and sides kind of look frizzy and undefined with no texture especially around the crown and the back of the top no matter how much moisture I add and how much product I rake through (for context I use the moisture miracle olive oil leave in conditioner and black castor and jojoba oil gel). And it just confuses me because when I see tutorials online for defining coils, they are always easily able to define the middle with a bit of product. I don’t have very good picture of the top of my hair but I will show pictures for context. I’d be really appreciative of advice could be given,
This is wet/towel dried shampoo'd and conditioned. Second pic is like an hour later with leave in.
Is this 3C/4a ??? Or 4B? I can’t tell
And what protective styles are ideal for this hair type ! She has medium porosity hair.
Photos wet and then dry. My hair shrinks/frizzes quite a bit without tons of product lol.
