10th Gen Civic Base Model (LX)

I just picked up a 2016 Honda Civic LX (2.0L NA) with 112,000 km on the clock. Honestly? I’m having some serious buyer’s regret. I love the 10th-gen look, but I’m already wishing I’d gone for the turbo engine. This base model feels a bit sluggish.

I’m looking for some advice on how to make this car feel like mine. I’m planning on doing a mix of maintenance, aesthetic, and performance mods.

Here’s the plan so far:

•Maintenance: It hasn't had a transmission oil change yet, so that’s priority #1. I'm a bit worried about the CVT—any tips on keeping it healthy if I start driving it a bit harder?

• The "Speed" Problem: A buddy of mine is telling me to just engine swap it or slap a turbocharger on the 2.0L. I feel like that’s a recipe for a blown CVT, but I’m desperate for a little more pep. Is it even worth trying to tune a base model, or should I just accept the reliability and move on?

• Tires: It came with winters, and I’m looking to swap to summers ASAP. I’m on the stock 16" wheels for now. Does anyone have recommendations for a sticky summer tire that fits the LX?

• Aesthetics/Tints: I’m planning on doing a tint soon. I was thinking 20 all around, but I don’t know if that’s too much of a cop magnet (I'm in Ontario). I was also thinking of a chrome delete but I’m not sure. Also looking into some "modeling" (body kits/lips) to aggressive-up the base look.

Let me know what you guys think, I also know you can do a lot with the infotainment I got to look into that.

Anyone have issues with tint affecting driver assistance sensors/cameras?

I am planning on getting 35% tint on sides and back, and I’m considering the top of windshield. I read that tint may affect sensors. I’m curious if anyone has ran into issues with that. I mostly do not want to deal with annoying messages like when moisture from rain covers the cameras and says “some features may not be available” (something like that). It’s my first time getting a vehicle tinted so I’m an absolute newbie haha, any advice is appreciated!

Recommend tire size?

I just bought these enkei Honda vx wheels 13x5 4x100 for my EX and the condition there in isn’t the best, the guy told me they just been sitting in his garage but still hold air and everything is good. Still looking to get new ones cause there’s cracks on the inner side wall, just looking what kinda of tire would you guys recommend me? I know the OEM tire 175/70 is the best but It’s my daily driver and I’m looking to make it clean and comfy kinda new the Honda scene..

Car play issue

2025 civic bought new. So the issue is iPhone connecting to car play. Made this post before and it was blamed on not using an apple cord. Using every cord I can find including apple it’s telling me bad usb cord unable to connect. What I’ve figured out is leaving my phone plugged into car if I shut car off open the door and close again when I restart it works fine. Sounds crazy I know but it works everytime. Anyone hear of this shit before?

18 help me pick

I got my first big boy job a few months ago (Sales) making anywhere from 4k-5k a month with close to no bills. I currently drive 1997 Honda Civic EX. It is definitely a good car just old and I want to upgrade. I currently have 3k to my name just starting to save aggressively. I wondering if I should put 4-5k down on a hybrid or a non hybrid civic sport USED. I have limited credit history but by the time I’m buying I’m going to have around 6 months or so of history. Help me decided!

Oem trottle cable 2000 civic LX

I’ve been trying for 3 days to find an OEM throttle cable for my 2000 Civic LX and I’m losing my mind.

Honda discontinued the original part, so I started digging for replacements. First I got told the part number was 17910-S01-G03. but then I check it on Honda parts and it says it doesn’t even fit an LX. Cool. (Same part code for photo)

So I keep digging and now I’m told it’s 17910-S04-L02 because the LX cable is longer. but then that shows up listed for an Si??

Why is something this simple so hard to track down?

I already bought a cable a while back that was too long, and I’ve basically been daily driving the car with it I have to floor it just to get like 70–80% throttle just cause it’s to long. I dealt with it for a while but I’m over it now.

If anyone actually knows the correct OEM part number or a confirmed direct-fit replacement for a 2000 Civic LX, please help me out before I lose it.

Rear Bearings

I just got back home from a shop for an alignment, that’s all sorted. I had been hearing a hum from the rear and assumed it was that. The guys at the shop let me know it was the rear bearings, both right and left. They quoted me $680 for the parts and labor. Looking to see if 1) this is by any means a shit show to do on my own and 2) if it is too much to diy then is that $680 a decent price

2024 civic si misfire

Hello. I just bought a 24 civic si a couple weeks ago.

I’m at 65k kilometres (40k miles) and last week I felt power stuttering when accelerating

Fast forward to last night I had a cylinder 2 misfire and check engine light blinking.

I replaced spark plugs and the misfire went away, but after using a live data scanner, it’s still misfiring a tiny bit in cylinder 2 and 4.

Right after I started the car after the spark plug change, it misfired once on cyl4. And about 5 mins down the road when the engine was up to temp it misfired once again on cyl2.

Car drives normally now but I don’t have the live scanner with me at the moment since it wasn’t mine. I don’t feel those individual misfires. No check engine light but I’m wondering if anyone else has this issue. I haven’t changed coil packs, but I’m going to get upset with the dealer. The car was a pre owned and on the showroom floor and it’s wild it’s misfiring with this low mileage.

Just wondering if anyone’s had a similar experience with the 11th gen 1.5

Manual Trans leak in 8th gen?

Could anyone point me in the right direction here. Noticed a few small spots on driveway and appears there’s trans fluid coming from somewhere. It runs down the driver side of it next to the wheel and drips off the bottom but it looks like it’s puddling right under the air box towards the front of transmission and whole back side it wet. Took off air box and cleaned it all with brake cleaner and drove to work today but not seeing anything up top where it might be coming from but it is still dripping on the bottom and you can watch drops run down the side of the trans. Any help would be great

Should I service the automatic transmission now, or is it risky if it’s never been done before?

Hey everyone,

I’m based in the UK and recently picked up a 2013 Honda Civic with about 95k miles on it. It’s got an automatic transmission, and I’m not sure if the transmission fluid has ever been serviced.

Would it be a good idea to service the transmission now as a precaution, or could it potentially cause issues if it’s never been done before? I’ve heard mixed opinions about changing fluid on higher-mileage cars if it hasn’t been maintained regularly.

Any advice or personal experiences would be really appreciated

Where is the dang Android Auto USB port on an '18 EX-T?

Everybody online is saying it's in the cubby that's forward of the shifter. I don't see a cubby there, and I've tried pushing to see if it's behind a door. So people say it must be the one inside the center armrest. I've tried that with 3 different cables, but Android Auto will not display on the dash screen. Anker with the best Android Auto reviews, and a couple other brands. I've downloaded the app. That USB port in the center armrest is the only USB port I see. The phone is a Pixel 8 Pro
