She had eggs at 33 pound channel

Hit at 5:14 am, usually I fish all day into the night but I’ve been making overnight trips. Dozing off when I started to hear the drag, off cut tilapia
We were fishing bread balls on a hook for carp and this fella came by!
Caught this guy on a crankbait. I’ve never heard of cats hitting a crankbait. Such a pleasant surprise!
Sorry for not having the best pictures but this looks like a flathead and looks different from the other channels I caught in this pond. It weighted at 6.32 27in and someone is telling me it’s not but idk man I’m looking for answers thanks
Caught this guy on my new combo this weekend to break her in. I forgot my lip grippers and couldn’t safely weight this guy. Didn’t fit in net and I had to get him to mid stomach to get back fin off ground. I have a 32” inseam. I’m guessing he felt about 25 pounds.
My grandpa gave me his old fishing pole and its amazing quality. Its by far the nicest fishing pole I have but the only problem is that its a massive 13 foot surf rod. I am in a landlocked state and fish mostly in small bodies of water. I was wondering if I set the pole up for catfishing if it would still be too excessive.
Old vid for attention.
All of these came out of a pond. I don’t seem to have any trouble catching cats out of ponds and lakes, but in my river? I’ve caught some but I wouldn’t consider myself successful.
Finding a spot on the river where I’m not just getting snagged every cast is a nightmare. I’ll tie a breakaway sinker on so that I can atleast usually get the hook back, but I’m positive there has to be a better way to do it than what I’m doing.
I’d like to catch one good-sized flathead but as a general rule I’ve caught one flathead, several blues, and lots of channels and even a bowfin once out of my river.
It’s completely full of downed trees. Last night we had to break off twice from getting snagged on logs that were being pushed downriver.
TLDR; what rigs should I be trying to use in a fairly large, muddy, very timber-ridden tributary of the Mississippi or even on the Mississippi itself if that might be more beneficial to my success?
Didn't have much time to fish here today, but it seems like it has a lot of potential. I threw chunks of shad right along the edge of the current and the brush pile, as well as a nightcrawler right inside the eddy downstream from me. Curious if yall would do anything different. I'd like to catch flatheads, but couldn't get any good live bait today.
Stop buying Spiderwire / Berkley fishing lines. This company is a scam.
A relative got a 50lb Spiderwire Braided Line on Amazon in July 2025 under a year of purchase from Amazon. Spiderwire denied the warranty based on the date code on the spool being a 2022 date code.
This is unethical and unprofessional and not in line with fair trade practices. Let the buyer beware. Pure Fishing is out to scam buyers.
Buyers beware!!!
I’m trying to get better about keeping fishing notes instead of relying on memory after each trip.
For those of you who catfish regularly, what details are actually worth tracking?
Bait, rig, hook size, line, time of day, water level, weather, moon phase, location notes, missed bites, photos, or something else?
I’m working on organizing my own fishing log better, and I’m curious what information is useful to look back on later instead of just clutter.
I unfortunately don’t have a scale and I left my tape measure at home. Just curious how much you guys would guess this flathead weights. He felt at least 10 lbs but that’s just my opinion
