Old stuff.
Haven't done cardistry since highschool and decided to relearn some of my old flourishes. Not going to lie, the mussel memory held up really well!

Bonus question: Whos mockingbird you think looks the best?
Hello hello card lovers , I'm a half decent cardistry dude , I've a standard beaten up bicycle deck but lately I've been following this youtube channel called a millionmagictricks , and I kinda want to get into magic now , for me in egypt , stripper deck and marked decks are out of stock , svengali and mirage brainwave and invisible all are in stock , do i get mirage deck as my starting magic deck and just make do with my beaten up standard for other tricks and cardistry or do i just get a prettier version (or another standard) of bicycle for both cardistry or magic? i wanna hear your honest opinions because I'm torn , one side of me wants prettier cardistry deck and still do magic with it and practice said magic and cardistry on my beaten up standard , another part of me thinks mirage deck is the coolest thing ever but I'm afraid if i buy it i'll be limited to it and wont be able to do much with my standard because its badly beaten up and looks bad to perform with either cardistry or magic
sorry if this seems a bit incohesive 😔
my favorite of the classic flourishes, and foundational to my own style. I’ve been working at this move for a long time and I’d still say it’s only 90% there
Been practicing cardistry for a little over 5 years now; though I’ve honestly been fascinated with playing cards and flourishing for much longer. And somehow, after all the cuts, packets, aerials, springs, pressure fans, faros, and endless deck wear… I still find myself repeatedly coming back to one move above all the others (aside from dribbling):
There’s just something deceptively difficult about it. People outside cardistry see a fan and think, “simple.” Meanwhile, cardists know a genuinely clean Thumb Fan is a constant balancing act between pressure, thumb placement, deck condition, humidity, bevel, hand tension, and pure muscle memory.
Some days it opens perfectly. Other days it feels like your thumb suddenly forgot how cards work. 😅
I’ve spent YEARS trying to refine mine into that smooth, even, near-circle spread with consistent spacing and minimal clumping. Even tiny adjustments can dramatically alter the outcome. Different card stocks respond uniquely; a freshly opened deck behaves differently from a well-used one. The room’s climate (humidity, temperature, airflow) also plays a significant role more than most realize.
That’s part of why I love cardistry, honestly! Its fundamentals continually teach new lessons and demand adaptation!
Just a prototype I guess
Plz give me some suggestions
Not the smoothest but i quite enjoy it. open to all advices and critics.
So I’ve been interested in cardistry for about 5-6 months now. To me, it’s a very interesting form of art and I have been dreaming of doing it ever since. But the problem is that I don’t know where to start!! 😞
I already bought a (cheap) deck of cards and tried it out for a while; but then I quickly lost my motivation and just stopped trying ever since. I really regret not pushing my dedication now — if I had really locked in that while back, I probably would’ve been very good by now….and as of recently, I’ve caught myself thinking about that. A lot.
My question to the cardistry community:
How can I actually get motivated enough to chase my dream and where do I get the dedication? How did you guys do it? I’d love for someone to help me out!
It wouldve been less incomprehensible to say "tricks that arent hard on your hands but require precision and smoothness to master" and "tricks that involve somewhat painfully stretching your hands to improve dexterity" but this was more fun
Hi I’m getting into cardistry but all I have are cheap plastic ones that stick to others, slides really bad and are creased. I’m looking to buy cards specifically for cool tricks and some sleight of hand magic but I do not have a single clue as to good quality decks even the difference between plastic or paper decks. I would like to know material/ brand suggestions! PS price isn’t a problem but obviously don’t want to pay a lot
Learned a lot more but I'm tired of filming
Is there anyone here like me? How do you deal with your hyperhidrosis? Especially in this type of works where you have to hold paper-like stuff for a long period of time.
I have many other hobbies and I struggle in almost everything where my hands are getting used. But like I don’t think there’s anything where I hold paper-like things for this long that the sweat from my palms can/is going to destroy them. So any advice?
Progress on the og squeeze over 4 months! Still trying to smooth out the Liquid Paper squeeze+reanimation variation 😌
