There are 2 types of cardistry

There are 2 types of cardistry

It wouldve been less incomprehensible to say "tricks that arent hard on your hands but require precision and smoothness to master" and "tricks that involve somewhat painfully stretching your hands to improve dexterity" but this was more fun

My favorite book of all time is solutions and other problems, a little bit ago i came to you guys asking for similar books and i heard a lot of positive things about Jenny Lawson and Samantha Irby.

I tried reading one of Samantha Irbys books but i just didnt really find it very funny and didnt finish it, maybe it gets better later into the book, if thats the case let me know and ill pick it up again.

Jenny Lawsons "lets pretend this never happened" was a good read that i enjoyed. Very amusing. it didnt make me laugh the way Allie Brosh does, but thats a pretty high bar. And the vibes are there, albiet in a more dark crazy way. I wanna read more of her books but it looks like its gonna be a bit of a wait until theyre available again at my library.

Id also been suggested Sarah Andersons "adulthood is a myth" and it wasnt quite my cup of tea. The humor was pretty predictable for me and felt like a compilation of memes from the #relateable era of the internet. It was pretty lighthearted and silly though which i appreciated. It was also moreso just a collection of comic strips as apposed to an actual book, which isnt what im looking for.

I also read Nate Bargatzes "big dumb eyes" which was actually very entertaining and decently funny. Thoroughly enjoyed. Not a surprise though since im also just a fan of him as a comedian.

Any suggestions based on this for what i should read next?

Ive been doing ketamine for therapy and have simultaneously grown enamored with a lot of philosophy and spiritual experiences surrounding psychadelics as a whole.

I have had lots of out of body experiences when doing this. i usually am still able to feel my body, so not complete dissasociation. Whats strange is how because i can feel my consciousness and body at the same time i can compare where my mind is in relation to my body. My mind often moves outside of it, often into the same places and "locations" as if there is some sort of other-dimensional landscape.

I understand that ketamine turns off the default mode network, but from my (possibly incorrect) understanding, that in of itself doesnt seem like it would cause this. If anything the fact that turning off our brains filters allows our concsiousness to wander seems to support the idea that this is a very metaphysical experience. Im pretty sure it also like disconnects you from the senses of your body, but why does this equate to my concsiousness moving around? Compared to other things that stop you from feeling sensations, why is it different than just feeling your entire body being numb?

But on the other hand it also sounds sort of naive. Like, i can understand how one could just boil it down to "you took some drugs and felt weird. Not surprising, drugs will do that to ya" so i guess im wondering if the science of what ketamine does to the brain is compatable with these spiritual explanations, if they run contrary to them being real, or if we just dont know yet. I feel like the answer is probably going to be that its just a drug making me feel weird, which is a bit dissapointing, but im still curious to know exactly what is going on here.

A related optional question, but do you guys think the answer to this also extends to other psychadelics? I skimmmed over some other posts about psychadelics and it seems people are a bit more accepting of dmt giving plausible metaphysical experiences. To me it feels a bit less likely that the more hallucinatory drugs like dmt would be indicative of any sort of philisophical truth, just because hallucinations in of themself are not very special imo and can come from lots of different places, though i will admit its a strange coincidence (or maybe not) that the chemical found in almost all concsious organisms and that (iirc) is heavily tied to concsiousness is the same chemical that gives you the most wild and spiritual experiences.
