Air Canada is saying no disruption recorded on this journey but they cancelled my flight and rescheduled me 2 days later

Their automated system shows no disruption but basically I had a 1 stop flight to canada from overseas the first leg was with a partner airline and was flight.

When i arrived at my stop i was informed the flight was cancelled and they rebooked us on a different flight 2 days later. No one there in person just an email sent to use.

The partner airline said this was Air Canada's responsibiltiy and wouldn't help.

No one at the gate and we were basically left with no help, so we booked our own hotels and meals for the 2 days.

The email I got said this...

>We're very sorry, this flight is cancelled because of an earlier mechanical issue with the scheduled aircraft.

Mechanical issues can happen if there was a mechanical problem on the scheduled inbound aircraft for this flight, and the aircraft isn't able to return to your departure station before being sent for repairs.

We're now working to rebook you on another flight, and we'll send you an update within the next 30 minutes.

We know this is disruptive to your travel plans. We’re doing our best to get you on your way, and we look forward to welcoming you on board soon.

Air Canada's automated system shows 'no disruptions' on the flight and they just rejected the claim for expenses of the hotel and meals I filed with them.

Do I have any options here ? My understanding is the hotel and meals should be covered under CTA regulations.

I wasn't even applying for the $1,000 per passenger delay thing as they said it was due to a mechanical issue. And I assumed that would not be eligible.

But the food and hotel should be ?

Working holiday visa & German employer: Any experience?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning a stay via a working holiday visa in Canada for about four months next year. I'm currently employed in Germany and want to keep my job. I would cover this time through unpaid leave and vacation days.

Can I take on part-time jobs in Canada and simultaneously be on vacation with my German employer? Are there any tax implications I need to consider? There should be no double tax if I work less than half a year in Canada.

Would it also be possible to work for my German employer from Canada on my visa (with reduced hours to also see the country) provided my German employer allows this?

I still need to clarify the details with my employer and would appreciate hearing about your experiences beforehand. Thanks for any input!

Summer Job - Revelstoke Mountain Resort

I’m thinking about taking a summer guest services job at Revelstoke. Has anyone worked there / know anyone who’s worked there?

It looks really cool but to be honest the reviews on indeed aren’t filling me with a lot of confidence… it’s has 2.8. All things to do with poor management, unreliable hours, poor pay etc… I know that’s expected with this kind of job but it seems like pretty much all the other resorts have higher ratings. I suppose I could try and get a casual job in town as well if the hours aren’t good?

I’m not expecting to save any money, and perhaps lose some tbh… with the low pay, unreliable hours and expensive accommodation I won’t have much left over each week… but I understand this will be a ‘for the good experience’ thing rather than a ‘save money’ thing. I just want assurance that the ‘good experience’ thing actually exists lol!

It will be a stepping stone for me to enter into Canada with a job and accommodation, and I feel like having experience at a mountain resort in Canada increases my chances of getting jobs at other resorts in winter.

I just don’t want to have a crap experience. I generally love nature and small town vibes, but the poor indeed reviews have freaked me out a bit.

What do you people think?!?

Messed up my eTA, how to fix it

I have a kinda complicated situation and need some advice what to do next.

I had a flight planned for today morning 11:50 CET from Munich to Toronto. I had already my ETA approved on 25th March, until i noticed yesterday that my passport number was missing a character.

As i applied for the first time, i applied 6:30 PM, i got response at 11 PM asking me to clarify a false info, which at that time was i ticked No for the question if i was denied a visa to Canada before, which happened 10 years ago, and i totally forgot about it. So i sent my response clarifying that i forgot about it since it was a long time ago, and at the same time i’ve been travelling a lot specifically to the US multiple times during the period where my visa got rejected, 3 hours later at 2 AM i received the approval for my eTA.

Fast forward to yesterday, i was preparing my stuff, then i noticed the wrong passport number, so i panicked a lot, i reapplied yesterday at 7 PM, then i noticed i had the wrong travel purpose, but i had everything correct referencing my already approved eTA application number. So i created another application today morning after 12h of submitting the first one, correcting the previous one, and yet again i have forgot to fill out the approced eta number, so i created a third one.

Then i figured out that i might have complicated things even more, so i used the web form telling them what happened, and sent all 3 application numbers explaining what happened and which one they need to consider and withdraw the other 2.

One last note: as i applied the first time (the approved eta) after approx 2 hours the status has changed from “not started yet” to something i cant really remember. But for the 3 applications i submitted after, their status is still “not started yet”. And i’m not sure if it’s because of the long queue, or because i had too many applications at the same time.

So i missed my flight, and rebooking will cost me 3k€ now, and still no eta. I know it’s almost impossible to speed things up, but if i can do anything to fix the mess i made i’d really appreciate your advice.

Sorry for any typos and unclarity, but im still panicking 😭
