Dorchester

Hey everyone - I've been in Boston around 10ish years now and always in East Boston. I'm pretty well off but want to keep my rent around $2500 and Eastie is rapidly pricing me out at that. I've seen a lot of Dorchester listings but like many people when I moved here years ago I always heard how unsafe Dorchester is, etc. but feels like it's pretty reasonable now?

Anyone live in Dorchester and have recs for a single girl who's 30. I don't drive so want to be somewhere where I can feel safe walking at nearly all hours but otherwise that's all I care about. For reference, Eastie was also an "unsafe" area when I first moved here and I've never felt unsafe here so I'm pretty open minded but I just don't know enough about Dorchester to make an informed decision.

Thanks!

Looking for sublet May 18 - Aug 9; Alewife ~ Central area

Hi!

I'm a local college student who will be working a paid summer internship in the area. Currently looking for a sublet/short-term lease to stay during my internship from May 18th to August 9th.

I'm planning on taking the 128 Business Council shuttle from Alewife to work, so having a reliable way to get to Alewife station is quite important for me. I'm currently thinking of being somewhere that is walking distance to any of these red line stations (Alewife, Davis, Porter, Harvard, Central). Monthly budget is ~$1700 max.

Please comment/DM. Thank you!!

Fenway Triangle Apartments Reviews

Hi,

I currently live outside the city and recently received a rare income-restricted opportunity to move into a luxury apartment building in Boston. The building is Fenway Triangle, located in the Fenway/Kenmore area (180 Brookline Ave). As exciting as this is, I’d like to better understand the community and the building before making such a big move.

I have a few concerns and would really appreciate input from current or former residents. If you’ve lived there or know someone who has, I’d be very grateful for anything you can share.

Q1: How loud/noisy does it get inside the apartment during game days with the windows closed? I have a baby who is a light sleeper, so I’m trying to understand whether it’s manageable given sirens, late-night noise, games, etc. The unit I was offered is on the 3rd floor, closer to the street. I don’t mind some noise, but I’m trying to get a sense of how intense it can be.

Q2: What is the pest situation like? Are there frequent issues with bugs (ants, beetles, cockroaches, etc.)? Have you ever seen mice or rats inside the building or apartments?

Q3: How often does the fire alarm go off? In some buildings, alarms are initially isolated to individual units before triggering the whole building (e.g., giving time to resolve something like burnt food). Is that the case here, or is the full building alarm easily triggered? I’ve never worried about this before, but with a baby it feels important.

Q4: More generally about the neighborhood, do you find the area to be family friendly? When I visited, it was crowded and not walkable, but I’m hoping it’s possible to plan around game times for quieter stroller walks. I really love the location and proximity to the Charles River, but I’m trying to understand whether it would feel like a good place to live day-to-day or if I will be miserable. We're also hoping to find resident parking which I think will be such a daily hunt challenge.

If you have any other thoughts beyond these questions, please do share! I would truly appreciate anything you can share as it will help us make this big decision. Thank you so much!

Hi! My roommate and I are moving out of Boston and are looking to assign our lease to two people for a June 1st, 2026, move-in date. Our apartment is a really spacious, 2 bed 1 bath unit on the top floor of a building located in Cleveland Circle, Brighton. Rent is $2,800 total per month and heat is included. Gas (for stove), electric, and Wifi are separate costs. Kitchen has dishwasher and laundry is situated in the building. Young Professional (22F) looking for August sublet + option to renew in Somerville

Hi I'm currently a senior at UCLA and will be starting a new job in Somerville in August. I'm interested in joining a group of all-female young professionals or recent grads in an apartment in the Somerville/Cambridge/Medford area. I'm willing to commit to a lease that starts in August or September, or to start subleasing in August and renew in September. A bit about me:

- don't smoke, drink occasionally

- allergic to cats :( so no pets unfortunately

- will need to work from home 3 days/week Monday, Wednesday, Friday

- super clean and respectful, organized, quiet

- budget of around $1500/month

- prefer a more modern, renovated space but appliance just need to work well and be clean!

- will have a car, prefer to have a parking spot

Please let me know if you think this could be a good fit for you or your roommate group. I'd be more than willing to join an existing roommate group and sign onto the lease, or look for a 2b/1b or 2b/2b apartment with another young woman!

Looking to move to East Boston - worth it?

Hi all,

Looking to live within my means and move to Boston for work. I'm curious for feedback - I found a few lovely apartments, but they are quite literally next to the airport. Is the noise terrible? How are living conditions? Is it a dead area? I plan to visit but figured I might as well our lovely resource pool here. Please lmk - especially if you have first hand experience living in the area!! Looking right on Eagle Hill / Paris St!
