Is this a bald eagle? Is he okay?

Located in central Indiana today. This is on the side of a busy country road, he is standing in an empty field in a large pool of water.

Is this a bald eagle? Or are there any lookalikes?

Also, is this normal for this bird? I am used to seeing large birds like this always hiding in trees or perched in wooded areas. This guy was in a completely empty area with no trees nearby with lots of busy cars. Just struck me as odd, let me know what you think!

Blue bird wants inside

For the last 2 days, an eastern blue bird has been constantly trying to get inside the window. It flies against the glass, sits on the ledge chirping away. Any thoughts on why?

I didn’t know birds could purr until I rescued this cutie pie

I live in Brazil! my brother found this precious baby in front of our building trying to fly (feathers were cut). he had a ring on his leg but the code wasn’t the kind the government uses to track them nationwide. we canvassed our neighborhood for two days trying to find its owner, but nobody showed up. since we’re not bird owners and couldn’t keep it any longer, I surrendered it to the proper authorities. when we got there they told us it’s a ringneck, which is quite an expensive breed over here. he/she’s just a tiny wittle baby and it broke my heart to give him/her up, but it was the right thing to do. they told us someone had been there that same week looking for their yellow ringneck! I really hope they come back for it. the birdie really took to me, but at the same time it was pretty scared, so I got a whole lot of love bites and love scratches (and poo on my back) 😅

I live near Chicago and I just noticed that I have a new friend building a nest in my gutter. I want to leave him be but I have to make sure he’s not clogging it. But what I want to know is what kind of bird is this? What if I move it over a tiny bit so it’s not causing a blockage? I don’t even know if there are eggs.

  1. Periquito-rico (Brotogeris tirica);

  2. Cabeça-seca (Mycteria americana);

  3. Chupim (Molothrus bonariensis);

  4. Corruíra (Trogodytes musculus);

  5. Biguá (Nannopterum brasilianum).

No birds attracted to my bird paradise, why? :(

A few weeks ago I decided to turn my empty planter into a bird paradise. I live on the fifth floor and that concrete planter was just staring at me. As you can see in the picture, there’s a bowl of food, a water bath with a fountain, there’s a small bird house on the edge of the planter and I have tried to create some shelter (red box). I saw two crows visit, but they have yet to return.

What can I do to make this more attractive to them? There’s mostly crows, ravens, blackbirds, great and blue tits in my neighborhood. I would love to hear your suggestions!

Mourning doves grow up so fast

I’ve never been a bird guy (love ‘em, just don’t know much about them) until a little dove decided to nest a planter I had put outside to drain. We had gotten to the point where the parents wouldn’t flinch when I would come out to hang on the patio.

I took this photo in my backyard in northern MD. I see a lot of birds at my feeders but haven’t seen this one before. Is it an Eastern Phoebe? (Sorry for the poor quality pic. I took it with my phone)
