How do you feel working at Bell?

What’s morale like? Feeling stressed, unappreciated, waiting to be axed, wanting out?

edit I‘m in BBM. Morale is shit. Enormous fear. People stressed like mad. No one getting replaced so everyone doing more work and feeling stressed and anxious. Never seen it this bad in my career.

Wireless-to-the-Home Antenna Removal

When I moved to my house, I decided to have Bell install their home Internet service here even though there is a more popular, but smaller, local provider because I thought Bell’s service (though much slower) would be more reliable. I did not, however, know that Bell would need to install wireless-to-the-home here because the smaller teleco owns the underground infrastructure.

As a result, when the Bell tech came, they installed an antenna on the side of my home, second floor, pointing over my roof to connect to the local cell network for wireless-to-the-home internet. Fast forward 2 years to today and I am switching to the smaller teleco. However, my cancellation of the Bell service has turned into a bit of a hassle.

I managed to get the service cancelled, but the larger issue is that they are refusing to remove the antenna on the house that they installed. Which is funny, because I called them a month ago to confirm that when I cancelled my Internet service with them that they would remove the antenna and they said yes. Now, apparently, Bell will not remove the antenna, and it is my problem.

Has anyone had experience with this? Do I keep pushing to have it removed? Or do I just accept it is my problem and find a way to remove it, the feedline, and seal everything up?

Bell 10G plan (Giga Hub 2.0) moved to CGNAT — lost external access to my Synology NAS. What are my options?

Hey everyone,

I've been running a Synology NAS at home with port forwarding for external access. Recently port 443 started timing out when I checked via canyouseeme.org. I tried deleting and re-adding port forwarding rules, rebooting the Giga Hub 2.0 — nothing worked. For testing, I even changed the internal service port and reconfigured everything, and locally (inside the network) everything works fine. The issue only occurs when accessing from outside the network, which is why I’m confident this is not a local misconfiguration.

After chatting with Bell support, I was told that residential customers are being gradually moved behind CGNAT, and I was apparently one of the early ones. Their suggested fixes were:

  1. Upgrade to a Business plan (to get a public IP)
  2. Use a third-party router

A few questions for the community:

  1. How many of you have lost your public IP on Bell residential? Is this already widespread or am I just unlucky?
  2. Would PPPoE with a third-party router even help? If Bell is assigning me a CGNAT IP at the ISP level, a third-party router won't fix that — right? PPPoE doesn't magically give me a public IP if Bell isn't handing one out.
  3. For Bell fiber (10G), PPPoE requires an SFP module — the Giga Hub 2.0 doesn't have a true bridge mode. Is the WAS-110 + a router like UDM/UCG Fiber the only real PPPoE bypass option? That's not cheap...
  4. At this point, is Cloudflare Tunnel the most practical solution? Buy a domain, set up cloudflared on the NAS, and call it a day — no port forwarding needed. Are there any downsides I'm missing?

Would love to hear from others dealing with the same situation. Thanks!

Consumer: Just to double-check, my current WAN IP is 142.198.x.x. One

of your previous agents mentioned that port forwarding is not working

because the connection is behind CGNAT.

However, from what I understand, this IP range does not typically fall

under CGNAT address space. Could you please confirm whether my

connection is actually under CGNAT, or if there might be another issue

affecting inbound port forwarding?

20:57:59 Alaine John: Let me check details aobut port forwarding on your

account.

20:58:23 Alaine John: I just want to confirm. Is your service address #####?

20:58:37 Consumer: YES

20:59:33 21:01:04 21:02:46 21:06:47 Consumer: Just to clarify and make sure I understand correctly, my

current WAN IP is 142.198.x.x, which appears to be a normal public IPv4

address.

I was previously told that my connection is behind CGNAT, which is why

port forwarding is not working. However, according to RFC 6598 and RFC

6888, CGNAT typically uses the shared IPv4 block 100.64.0.0/10.

Could you please confirm whether my connection is actually behind

CGNAT despite having a public-looking IP, or if the previous explanation

might not be accurate in my case?

Alaine John: Checked our database and you really do have a public ip

address which changes from time to time. I just want to check, what

device are you trying to connect to your modem and Bell internet service

via port forwarding?

Consumer: Synology NAS ,So I’m a bit confused — what exactly was the

basis for the previous agent saying I was behind CGNAT?

My current agent is confirming that I have a public IP address, and I can

also see a public WAN IP in the modem interface.

Was the earlier conclusion based on the port forwarding issue rather

than the actual IP assignment?

Alaine John: I'm so sorry. We don't have technical information about

port forwarding as Bell only provides basic troubleshooting for modem

and internet service. What is exactly happening when you set up port

forwarding on your modem?21:08:45 21:12:19

21:12:34 21:14:02 Consumer: I used to have port forwarding on port 443 working without

any issues for a long time. I’ve tried multiple troubleshooting steps, but it

no longer works.

When I contacted support, I was initially told that I don’t have a public IP

and that I would need to switch to a Business plan.

Now I’m being told that I do have a public IP, so I’m a bit confused about

why the explanation has changed. Could you help clarify what is actually

causing the port 443 inbound connection to stop working?

Alaine John: I'm so sorry I miss typed and I never realized. You don't

have a public ip and you're right Bell residential accounts don't offer the

service. To get your own ip, you will have to convert your account to

business account. One thing that we need to check is your set up now

compared to before.

Alaine John: Just to make sure I understand, your service was fully

working before?

Consumer: ???miss typed??Yes, it was working perfectly before without

any changes on my side.

Port forwarding on 443 (and other ports) was stable for a long time, and

I didn’t modify any settings on my modem, router, or NAS when the

issue started.

The problem appeared suddenly, which is why I initially thought it might

be a network or ISP-level change.21:14:59 Alaine John: Were you able to change any settings on your modem

before this issue started?

21:15:31 Consumer: No, I did not change any settings on the modem before the

issue started.

Everything was working normally for a long time, and I only noticed the

problem when external access suddenly stopped working.

Since then, I’ve only tried basic troubleshooting like rebooting the

modem and re-checking the port forwarding rules, but nothing related

to the original setup was changed.

21:16:08 Alaine John: What device are you using while chatting with us?

21:16:20 Consumer: laptop

21:18:33 Alaine John: Because you mentioned that you never changed any

modem settings, what we can try now is to factory reset the modem.

This will restore all settings on the modem and at the same time it will fix

any know in issues. I can remotely do a factory reset now if you want.

Our caht will pause and it will be restored once the modem is on again.

21:20:43 Alaine John: I'm so sorry, I'm not getting any response. Are we still

connected?21:20:57 Consumer: I can do the factory reset myself if needed. That part is fine

on my side.

Before doing that, I just want to make sure it’s actually necessary,

because internally everything is working fine — my NAS is reachable

locally and the port forwarding rules are already correctly configured.

The only issue is external access, which started failing suddenly without

any changes on my side. So I just want to confirm if a reset is really

required at this stage.

21:22:47 Alaine John: That's the best thing we suggest now. We do recommend

factory reset as this fixes all known issues related to your modem and

internet connection.

21:23:03 Consumer: okay

21:23:21 Consumer: so you mean my ip is public right? not CGNET

21:26:32 Alaine John: You don't have a public ip. That kind of service is only

offered to our business accounts. You can also consider to get a

business account to have that kind of service.

21:26:50 Consumer: okay

I think Agent not specailist .

NOT CGNET ONLY CLOSED PORT80. 443

Migration from copper to Fibe

What a nightmare it has been.

Had a tech at my house on Sunday to move us off the old copper network. He left, said everything is fine, well that wasn't true.

Home phone has no dial tone and tv did not work. Called them back, set up a tech to come out Monday to resolve the issues.

Bell told me someone would be there between 8-12, no one showed up, multiple calls with bell and they could not send someone out to my house.

I have solved the tv issue myself, but here is the thing, my tv service cuts in and out and is so choppy and pixelated. I never went to one of these boxes because I was worried the service would be choppy and buffer, well Bell.....I am paying way too much money and my service is unwatchable, and my phone doesn't work almost a week later.......beware of Bell

Bell technician disconnected my fibre and moved it to the unit below me

Hi all, rent an apartment in a two unit house that also has it’s basement rented. Today our downstairs neighbour changed service from teksavvy to bell and it seems that the tech just yanked our fibre and put it in the basement leaving us without wifi.

I am not a bell customer but our provider, EBOX, uses their infrastructure as i understand it. i’ve called them but they don‘t seem to have any power to do anything and both the basement neighbour and I have called bell and have been essentially told to kick rocks.

It seems they only have one fibre cable leading to our house and don’t feel as if they need to add another seeing as the basement doesn’t have a separate address.

anything I can do? i can’t find much info about anyone having this problem online. very frustrating. thank you in advance.

Customer Service Escalation

Anyone got any hot tips on how to reach customer service to actually get a resolution?

I got a device that was supposed to be included in unlimited data, but now my bills are double and once it was $1000 for data on that device.

Whenever I call, I get a canned response. Then I get out on hold, get some more robotic responses, agent will not get a supervisor, and the result of this has literally been a financial catastrophe for me - I sold my car to pay a $2000 bill!!!

How do I resolve this? The data plan I didn't agree to is making my service get shut off every month bc I can't afford the bills and I don't even use that device anymore.

Error 2000 is going to make me pull my hair out

For the past 3 years...

Red light + error goes away before I can even get out of my chair to go to the modem to inspect. Modem is in direct line of sight at my desk. Happens multiple times a day. It's gotten to the point that I keep a ping-t open on an extra monitor so I can see it happen in real time.

Drops the connection juuuuuuuust long enough to get kicked from game lobbies. Yes my computers are on ethernet.

Have already replaced the modem twice (HH3000 started doing it, replaced with Gigahub, and Gigahub again) also had the tech out on site 4x over the past 3 years. Every time they polish the fiber, say db levels are great, can't find the issue, then scratch their heads when it eventually throws an error 2000/1202 for ~30 seconds.

Home/ statistics dashboard shows 0 errors on the fiber send/receive , it's presumably an "equipment issue outside of your unit"

CS shrugged me off, gave me a $20/mo credit and suggested I keep a mobile hotspot connected to my PC at all times to use as a fallback. Fine if it were for remote work, but that doesn't help gaming since IP hopping drops you from your lobby in most games, I think Minecraft is the only exception I've found.

Gigahub 2.0 hasn't rolled out in my area yet , the moment it does I'm getting it and if that doesn't solve this issue it might be time for me to either beg them to reevaluate the rest of the chain, or ultimately go back to copper :(

Bell Fibe 3000

I have a bell fibe 3000 and it works great and everything except that every time I try and download a large file on my laptop my bell fibe 3000 disconnects and restarts.

I try to update iTunes on my laptop which is a smaller file and it does the same thing. Anyone having similar issues?

Is there a universal remote that works well with the Fibe TV App??

I finally joined the 21st century and got my first smart TV. Does anyone have any good suggestions for a universal remote that works well with the Fibe TV App to give me much of the functionality the old remote had with the older android boxes?

Assume I'm an idiot 😂

Did I make a mistake?

Switched over to Bell on Monday and it’s been a nightmare from getting transferred from department to department, call after call, call failing, barely getting any 5G/5G+ network and trying use my watch line number to connect to the network. It’s been so infuriating. Do I switch back to Rogers or go to Telus?

Bell needs to file article 13

Wow have to give bell a big round of applause. Called tech support their AI bot couldn’t even get me into the right department to talk with some one. Then the call got dropped while talking to customer relations while verifying my account. The representative was treating me like a number and not a customer as well. And they never called back after the call dropped. I would not recommend anyone coming to this monopoly company.

PMF on Bell WiFi (WPA2)

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if PMF is enabled with WPA2 WiFi on Bell routers, specifically I have a Gigahub 2.0. There's no way to configure it from the router interface as far as I can tell. But I'm hoping someone out there has been able to test for it or confirm it's presence/absence?

Bell pods or Eero, Asus etc. mesh?

I just got 3 gigabit internet installed in my stacked town house. The modem is in the utility room in the basement and the I’ll need extenders on the 3 floors above. Maybe I can make do with just two extenders, but the question is should I get the Bell Wi-Fi pods or a different mesh system? Thanks
