And any recommendations for monitors? I love an ultrawide but something reliable and worthy of the PC

Is the Nvidia premium worth it in 2026?

I’ve researched the 9070 XT vs 5070 Ti to a ridiculous extent, and still cannot decide.

My Current PC:
- Ryzen 3600
- RTX 2070 Super
- 16GB RAM

PC use case:
- Mostly gaming (competitive + AAA single player)
- 1440p 144hz currently
- Want to move to 4K OLED eventually
- Some YouTube/content creation (talking head currently)
- Might record gameplay/commentary in future but unsure about streaming for the time being.

Originally I was looking at this deal from nebula: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/950352

I then found this deal which became option one below, as the core components were better and I could snag a better GPU for the build - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/958200

Before nebula decided that they wanted to steal all of my money and launch this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/958442

Now I’m stuck between the BYO GPU deal and the 5070ti deal, the Pros for each are:

  1. - Better balanced build overall
  2. - Better thermals/noise
  3. - Better value
  4. - Slightly weaker supporting components
  5. - But gets DLSS, better RT, NVENC, Nvidia ecosystem etc

Difference is about $170-200 $300-$320 AUD (EDIT: using the BYO GPU option from the 5070ti build, didn’t realise this).

From everything I’ve seen:
- Raster performance is basically tied
- Nvidia wins features/ecosystem
- AMD wins value/build balance

I feel like the AMD build is the more rational choice, but the Nvidia build is the one I’ll not second guess. I’m probably being a bit unreasonable and have some AI induced psychosis from researching these two builds.

If you were in my position, which would you buy?

Firstly I have made the brave (stupid) choice to order my laptop from Lenovo [Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Ultra AE with X9 CPU]

Since then my eternal suffering started.

*I paid on 29th April but the order wasn't 'released' until I contacted them to check the status on 5th May.

*The initial estimated date of shipping was 6-9days while making the payment. And there was no mention of parts or stock availability issue.

*After the order was 'released' the shipping date was revised to 10th May.

*Out of no where since this morning the shipping date got pushed back to 26th June! I contacted the Order Support and they mentioned parts availability issue.

This is completely a false policy by Lenovo and not being honest. 2-months of waiting after payment is completely unacceptable.

Lenovo should to step-up their commitment and services as we are well protected by Australian consumer law here and public forums/social media are quite vocal of any wrong doings.

To everyone considering buying anything from Lenovo website, think twice. Now I'm a fresh victim of their scam. I hope no one falls into their trap.

Everyone is paying their hard earned money to get their dream laptops. Companies can't get away doing the same thing over again. They should be accountable for their actions.

5070 to 3080ti

Have the opportunity to swap my 5070 founders for a msi trio 3080ti plus 300 cash. Don't use dlss that much and play 1080p. Have a 7600x too (could use cash to get a 7800x3d) for better overall performance. Play games like destiny, the finals, cs, and Minecraft. Good move or not?

9950x3d build cost?

I was thinking about 2 PC builds. What would be the cheapest I could find each one for?

1:
9950x3d

Rtx 5080

96gb ram or 64gb ram (if it saves a decent amount of money)

1tb storage

2:

9950x3d

Rtx 5070 ti

64gb ram

1tb storage

If the difference is not too much, 1 might be a better choice.

Use case: Heavy 3d tasks (unreal, blender etc), programming, and gaming

Would it be possible to get option 1 under 5.2k? And option 2 under 4.3? Will EOFY bring good deals?

Edit: From the responses, it looks to me like option 2 can be found in the 4-5k range. Also, I need at least the specs written in the 2 options above. 32gb ram or a different processor is not what I'm looking for

Also funny story I tried putting option 1 into pcpartpicker and got a really good price (I think around 4k) and I got really excited and then realised it was USD.....

Hi all, I’ve been thinking about getting/building a PC on and off for a bit now and just wanted to run a question past you about how much I should spend. For context: I have a PS5, so I have almost no desire to play the latest AAA games on a theoretical PC (because of that). Especially since the line between gaming PCs and consoles is so blurry, I would only really use a gaming PC to play AA/indie games, and some AAA mostly for mods and emulation. Is $1,000-1,500 Australian? a good amount or is it nowhere near enough?

P.S I wrote this before the ram-pocalypse so if it sounds naive it literally a pre fab question

Struggling to find high-end gaming laptop in Australia

Hey everyone,

I’m currently living in Australia (Cairns, QLD) and looking to upgrade my gaming laptop, but I’m struggling a bit with availability and pricing here compared to Europe.

Right now I own an ASUS TUF 15 with an i7-12700H, RTX 4060 and 16GB RAM.

It’s been good overall, but now I’m looking for a more serious high-end gaming machine with stronger cooling and a noticeable jump in performance.

I’m mainly looking for vapor chamber/liquid metal cooling, RTX 4080/5080 GPUs, Intel i7/i9 HX CPUs, high real TGP, 32GB RAM, 16” or bigger display.

Models I’ve been considering: ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 16, Lenovo Legion Pro 7i.

The issue is that in Australia I mostly find very limited stock and lower-spec variants with higher prices than expected.

Am I missing some good australian stores/websites/local retailers?

I already know about JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Amazon AU but maybe there are better places for enthusiast-level gaming laptops?

Also curious if people here usually buy locally, import from overseas, wait for sales, or use some other method.

Would really appreciate any advice. Thanks

Wanting to build my first gaming PC. Wait for EOFY or buy now?

Hi everyone!

I am not too knowledgeable about these things, so I'm looking for some advice. My friend who is much more tech savvy than me will be helping me build the PC and find good parts. I've been using a gaming laptop for the longest time, but the signs of wear are starting to show, so I think it's time for an upgrade.

I'm planning of spending max 3000 AUD for this build. I already have RAM and 4tb SSD that I can use.

GPU, I was thinking of either the rtx 5070 or Radeon 9070XT. CPU most likely AMD Ryzen 7 9700X

I'd also like to get an OLED monitor. Lenovo Legion Pro 27inch OLED seems fine.

Do you guys know whether there will be any worthwhile sales coming up? I know the EOFY sales should be starting up, but I'm not sure if there will be any good sales for the parts I need? I saw Centrecom's EOFY sale has already started, but it doesn't look like there's much I need on sale.

Thank you!

edit: I mostly will be playing Final Fantasy 14 MMO, Overwatch, League of Legends, Baldur's Gate 3, some co-op games and some single player games. I am not a competitive player whatsoever and just play for fun.

Mates,

Can you guys assist me with this build? I’m looking to get a PC for heavy work and video editing usage. I’m an accountant and a Mortgage broker. I’ll be using this PC for like 10-12 hours of heavy usage every day.

The prices seem too inflated and I’m not sure if it’s the right one.

Can you please have a look and let me know if it’s the right build, if parts are compatible and any changes recommended?

Also how tf can I get it for a reasonable price?

Thank youuu!!!

I have been looking at upgrading my PC, searching all the usual pre built websites and nebula seems like it’s the best as far as price point goes.

Has anyone purchased from them? And if so, what was the process like?

I don’t know much about PCs I video edit for YouTube at 4k resolution, plus I play a couple of games. I have been looking at this pc:

https://www.nebulapc.com.au/products/violet

My budget is around 2.5k would this build be worth it for video editing or would there be something better suited?

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers

This is from nebula pcs. I have no knowledge about pc or its parts and want to get final opinions on whether i should get it or not?

Is this gonna last me a while and give me a good gaming experience?

Conflicted which PC should I buy

There are two PCs I can buy but I am in a dilemma

Pc1 - 2448 aud
AMD 7 78003xd
RX 9070 xt
32gb ddr5

Pc 2 - 2187 aud
RTX 5070
amd 7500f
32gb ddr5

Both 750w PSU

Pc 1 is 260 bucks more expensive and has better stats but it is also a bit out of budget but i am able to stretch, however PC 2 has the nvidia platform for gpus which helps in my case

I care about recording games in 1440p 60 fps, video editing that footage smoothly , receiving highest quality and also longevity being able to keep the PC a very long time

which one is the smartest buy?
