I usually don’t have a problem with gel pads, but a few have really given me problems. The most common is a bubble between the pad and windshield. And videos for reference, or advice. Please and thank you.

Looking to finally purchase an Adas windshield calibration system. I have heard good things about the Autel MA600 and the Carcal system . Any suggestions or preferences? Pros vs cons? Best bang for the buck? Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance
This is about 90 minutes post install. Is this normal? To me this indicates there was some movement with the glass.
Hey guys, I’ve heard about some Safelite store getting Flat rate jobs after a 25 units on the week?
I mean if Im being overworked might aswell get overworked pay.
The little square is smooth to the touch, is it a crack? And is there a diy repair solution?
Service department for a jeep dealer waited 10 months for a new hard top, it came out of the box like this
I want to ask any shop owners in here what you would pay me hourly. Live in SW Ontario, Canada. I have 15 years under my belt. Worked for a corporate glass company for 9 years. Then I left there to work for a franchise. I have great attendance. My work is quality and done properly. No cutting corners. I can work the front counter, I cut flat very well. We do calibrations in house. Chip repairs and crack repairs. Mobile fleet and transports. Now when I was with the corporate company we had wage increases usually every spring. The company I am with now I have only received 1 raise after the first 3 years of working there and basically had to ask for it. At first the raise was only $1 but then the next day was increased to $3. Since that first raise it has been another 3 years without an increase. So I am just curious of what wage you would have me at as an employee. Thanks for your input.
Recently, my windshield was replaced with a PGW glass. Now, the camera cover rattles and annoys me. The shop blames an aftermarket glass and not their craftsmanship. Any idea if this can be fixed DIY?
I'm 21 and currentlv studying biomedical engineering, but I'm starting to realize I don't enjoy it. The workload is heavy, and I don't like the design and strategic aspects of the program. The only part I really enjoy is the biology side.
I've spoken with several alumni who graduated from biomedical engineering, and most of them ended up switching to different career paths. The few who stayed in engineering are earning around $21-$25/hour with 3-5 vears of experience, while others are making about $30-$40/hour even after 20+ years.
In September 2025, I got a part-time job at an auto glass company. I learned a lot and really enioved the work. I was earning about $25/hour in what was basically an entry-level role. I was later let go because I didn't yet have enough experience or familiarity with the tools
After that, the owner helped me get a job at a mechanic shop, but I quit after about two weeks because I was being paid under the table and making less than $12/hour.
Later, I got another job at Speedy Glass. I was making about $22.12/hour, focusing mainly on security systems and stone chip repairs, with the opportunity to move into full auto glass replacement work. While working there, I met technicians earning between $30 and $50 per hour with less than 15 years of experience
As of right now, I had left speedy glass to start my co-op term in mechanica engineering and although the pay is decent I'm still not really enjoying it as much as I did in Auto Glass.
Now I'm trving to decide: should I fully commit to auto glass as a career, or should I stick it out and keep exploring opportunities related to biomedical sciences?
2924’s…. Have always hated the 3/4 molding that goes around the top and sides. Our shop just uses and extra wide molding around it so it it sure to cover the edge of the edge of the body. The moldings for this thing have always fit like shit and are very stiff in the corners.
A few weeks back I took my '19 Jeep Wangler into 'Auto Glass' (I'm in the UK).
The guys replaced a cracked screen.
The day after however, we started to hear a popping, or tapping sound coming from the edge of the driver's side screen.
We got a few videos, but it feels like it happens randomly, at any speed.

Anyway, booked in for a warranty replacement and took it down there today, and they all said the same thing.
There's no way it was caused by the replacement, and even if we replaced it for another screen, it's unlikely to fix the issue.
Has anyone ever heard that sound before, after a faulty replacement?
Any idea what it might be?
Curious on if discounting customers deductibles is illegal? I would never do it but my old employer did & I figured it can’t be legal.
Just reaching out to see if anybody has any tips or tricks on these Dodge pro masters I’ve done them before, but I’ve just found it extremely difficult to get proper measurements from the front facing camera if anybody has any measuring tips or quick little tidbits on how to get this done a little quicker and easier I would appreciate it. I already know that they are touchy to begin with, but just measuring off of that front camera can be pretty difficult.
Just did a windshield in a 2016 Acura Tlx with Lane departure. Went to the calibration with autel using the MA600 stand. Did the static and then went for the dynamic. This is one of the static calibrations that you have to measure from the camera to the front wheel and the camera to the floor. I drove it for almost an hour and the light LKAS was popping up like normal but it wouldn't take. Anybody have any suggestions to make it go faster or at least easier? How long does it usually take when driving? For me it's usually 30mins but wondering if it was were the lines aren't as bright as they are in the summer and fall and that's why it didn't work.
Im trying to replace the rain light sensor lenses on my car. I bought a 4 pack of gel pads and I couldn't get any of them installed without getting bubbles. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations? Thanks
If a customer calls me with a claim number can I get that job routed to me or does the customer need to call insurance & get it routed to me?
Hi All! I have a 2014 Grand Cherokee. Had Safelite mobile come replace a cracked windshield and afterward noticed a new very loud whistle/vibration type noise. Occurs mostly at high speed (over 70 mph) but sometimes also at lower speeds. Doesn't do it all the time, even at high speed. It's very loud. I called Safelite and they sent a different tech out, who did a second replacement. It's difficult to make the sound occur when the tech is there, as it's random and most often on the highway, which isn't close to my house.
Anyway, after the second replacement didn't change anything, I just let it go and decided to worry about it later. My husband's Mom had just passed, and we had alot of other stuff on our plate. So warranty is likely out of the question.
What steps would you advise that I could do myself to try to identify or alleviate the problem? The second tech said he thought the wipers had been reinstalled too high. After several attempts to adjust and test drive, I finally just removed them both completely and drove it for a couple of days. It's not the wipers. So, what's my next step? I noticed the cowl doesn't sit tight against the windshield. Could that do it? It's very hard to determine where the sound is coming from, so that doesn't really help pinpoint an area. It sounds to me like it's coming from the top center of the windshield, but other people say the bottom.
Hi everyone,
Yesterday I was driving in the highway and a truck changed lanes to be in front of me. No problems with that, the driver had a clear distance and was driving at legal speed. The problem is that it lifted some rocks and one hit a the windshield causing a small chirp in the bottom. So I setup my appointment for fixing it next Tuesday and everything is OK. The fix was quoted around $180, which is OK. Today I checked the windshield and the crack now looks as shown in the picture. It went from a small chirp to this cracked line. Do I need to replace the windshield or can it be repaired? The main situation is that I’m planning to trade the car within 2 to 3 weeks, I’m waiting for the new one to arrive. I don’t want to spend on a new windshield when I’m not going to keep the car. Thanks for your advice.
I bought the Wrd spider 4 and tried to use it twice and this keeps happening... anyone know why it won't cut but instead it shakes?
Thank you
Anybody know what would cause this during an installation?
