Is this normal with Asda delivery?

Hi all,

So I've noticed with Asda, when you order for them online and they cant fulfil your order they substitute something that gives less food than if you had the item they had out of stock:

https://preview.redd.it/bma46xidriwg1.png?width=2942&format=png&auto=webp&s=a6c9b12ddfcadcd725504f1b8d80d3279cba4155

I know I've still saved money overall technically but still think it's a bit cheeky when they give you an item worth £1.50 less, and 100g less in produce (which is roughly another 2 meals for us). It feels a bit silly to get in a tiss about a little bit of food, but in a time where a lot of people are struggling with food prices you'd think they'd just give you the amount you originally paid for.

What's up with clothing sizes?

Genuinely, WTH?

My son is a skinny kid who has just turned 7, but the 7-8 trousers are all waaaay too small for him around the waist. I just bought some trousers for 10 year olds and they fit his waist but are too long on him. What sort of 🎄 ldren are they basing their clothing on?

Earphones no longer allowed when the store is closed?

Our store has recently gotten stricter with colleagues wearing earphones, even to the point of telling them to take them off on Sundays hours before the store opens.

Has anyone else had this rule, great morale booster...

One Asda from personal device

I’m an hourly employee that works a few days a week and wants to access my payslips, book holiday, etc. I now have to download a work profile on my personal phone just to access One Asda? This seems pretty mental, or am I just missing something?

Maternity

I work for Asda in the freezer putting out stock for the freezer section.

I have recently found out I am pregnant and about 5 weeks along. I have told my manager about it and he said that nothing will change until after 6 months. Which I don’t believe is true.

I have tried getting on OneAsda but finding it difficult to view and download on my phone to check the policy.

How do I go about asking for a rise assessment and anything further. I love doing my job in the freezer, but ultimately need it to be safe for me and baby.

Secondly, I have a friend that is also pregnant who got moved to the self check out, so jut thought that would happen with me, but hasn’t.

Any advice appreciated

I’m freeeee

I left Asda recently mostly because of all the changes we were seeing in express. Some were positive, some were just frustrating and quite frankly I lost the love for it a few years ago so it was certainly the right time, although the site itself self will always be special to me.

Noticeably less extra hours repeated over months although luckily no contract changes. Being an express it’s a much smaller team (20ish colleagues) but if you didn’t ask, the younger ones that never say no always got the shifts. Poor training and communication were other factors.

They started to push upselling last year and hardly anyone has got behind it bar our area manager that seems to change far too often. Even my ex manger didn’t seem to agree and thought it wasn’t part of Asda core values which makes me question whether or not they still enjoy their job if even they rebel a bit from change - not morally agreeing.

There were other things along the way, of course. Disciplinaries that broke down the working relationship between me and my manager to an irreparable state (even though I tried to improve this) - one of which was extremely petty, messed with my mental health and I won an appeal for. Ironically just before they brought in all the wellbeing posters.

I’m not wanting to discuss this but ~ The final blow for me was the P-A-Y. It’s embarrassing that they think minimum wage is enough for next few months with the current state of the world, even Tesco are offering better.

Calling in sick morning shift

I was at work today and was relatively fine but of stomach churning and what not but I’ve been hit with the full force of it in the last few hours and I start tomorrow at 4am. How do I go about ringing in sick at that time in the morning? Is it just same as usual? I’ve not been off sick yet so I’ve not a clue

Asda driver transfer

Its been around 2 to 3 months i asked my manager to transfer me to another store closer to home and he said he can do it as long as he hires more drivers and to replace me and hes been pretty open about how many are on boarding and hiring process, but its taking so long so what if I apply to the store myself and give my notice to my current store do I have to do training again?

experience with mitie

i’ve seen people complaining and rightfully so, but no one has truly went into how terrible this transfer is so i figured i’ll be the one. enjoy the rant i guess.

•they scheduled one of our guards that is on holiday for all of his shifts, did not attempt to send cover and every shift that happens we’re on our own in the store.

•send timid guards that have zero authority, cannot speak english well, do not have a clue how to use a radio even though that is taught in sia training.

•the external guards prioritise speaking in their own language even if you’re right there with them. english was not my first language and even i find it highly disrespectful in a team setting.

•we often have to babysit these guards, literally sometimes dress them up to look presentable. they will require your access card multiple times a shift to access certain rooms, you’ll have to show them where something like the break room or the toilets are each time a new one turns up. absolute headache.

•scheduled external guards sitting on their phone let prolific shoplifters inside the store and didn’t notice they stole £500 of stock. one had the cctv license and had the cameras on btw.

•get the scheduling for these guards wrong, one was scheduled til 9:30, after that there was no security and 8 minutes after she left a guy comes in and simply walks out with a £250 tv.

•line manager does not care, he will do the minimum to help you or simply won’t help at all.

•they refused to increase our hours, the hours we need are filled up by useless guards that know nothing about the store and simply are not cut out to work in security from what i’ve experienced.

•external guards get longer and paid breaks because they do not have to abide by the asda policy that we for some reason have to abide by despite not working for asda anymore.

•the importance of asking questions about the tupe was stressed heavily, we asked loads and literally nothing got answered, we simply just got to find out once the transfer we were forced into happened.

•cctv training not given in time and they are not allowing us to use the cctv until then resulting in a massive surge of theft, mitie rep told me it will be months before that’s sorted… great.

•we thought the transfer would be okay if it meant we get paid a bit more for the dangerous job it is at an ultra high risk store… nope, putting our lives on the line for £12.71 an hour with unpaid breaks. we’ve had knives pulled out on us, dogs set on us and violent criminals running through the store wielding machetes with the intent of murder. yay.

•whole original asda security team feels disrespected and demoralised, we no longer care about the store and what gets stolen due to the series of slaps in the face from asda and mitie together, we simply just show up to get paid now.

i do not see how this mitie contract will benefit asda in any type of way, oh well, let them find out.

that has been my experience so far, im curious as to how everyone else feels about this whole thing as well so feel free to comment and type away.

Do your laundry while you shop at ASDA

Fancy taking home some bed bugs while you shop? ASDA has the solution, do your laundry while you shop!

In theory it's a good idea, tackle laundry and shopping at the same time but it won't be successful for 2 reasons. First is that most people have washing machines at home, so just put the laundry on before you go to do your shop, come back and it's finished.

Second is most people don't like sharing washing machines due to bed bugs and other nasty crap from dirty people.

Third, there's no way of knowing if the machines will be in use when you get there, you may drag a massive bin bag of clothes to wash, only to find the machines are in use.

So basically a customer has to be doing a large enough shop that their laundry can wash and dry before just in time to collect it. That eliminates every customer doing a quick 20 minute shop. The customer has to take their laundry in hoping there is a machine available. They have to hope they don't leave with their laundry infesting with bed bugs from some other persons laundry.

Don't see this working at all.

NI store pizza counters

Anyone know when we're getting the chili beef topping back in? Haven't had it since November and im getting tired of telling customers we dont have it in yet...

Also apparently my store isnt changing anything from the recent updates.. shocking tbh since 90% of the time this counter is closed and making no profit, we're wasting more than we make
