experience with mitie
i’ve seen people complaining and rightfully so, but no one has truly went into how terrible this transfer is so i figured i’ll be the one. enjoy the rant i guess.
•they scheduled one of our guards that is on holiday for all of his shifts, did not attempt to send cover and every shift that happens we’re on our own in the store.
•send timid guards that have zero authority, cannot speak english well, do not have a clue how to use a radio even though that is taught in sia training.
•the external guards prioritise speaking in their own language even if you’re right there with them. english was not my first language and even i find it highly disrespectful in a team setting.
•we often have to babysit these guards, literally sometimes dress them up to look presentable. they will require your access card multiple times a shift to access certain rooms, you’ll have to show them where something like the break room or the toilets are each time a new one turns up. absolute headache.
•scheduled external guards sitting on their phone let prolific shoplifters inside the store and didn’t notice they stole £500 of stock. one had the cctv license and had the cameras on btw.
•get the scheduling for these guards wrong, one was scheduled til 9:30, after that there was no security and 8 minutes after she left a guy comes in and simply walks out with a £250 tv.
•line manager does not care, he will do the minimum to help you or simply won’t help at all.
•they refused to increase our hours, the hours we need are filled up by useless guards that know nothing about the store and simply are not cut out to work in security from what i’ve experienced.
•external guards get longer and paid breaks because they do not have to abide by the asda policy that we for some reason have to abide by despite not working for asda anymore.
•the importance of asking questions about the tupe was stressed heavily, we asked loads and literally nothing got answered, we simply just got to find out once the transfer we were forced into happened.
•cctv training not given in time and they are not allowing us to use the cctv until then resulting in a massive surge of theft, mitie rep told me it will be months before that’s sorted… great.
•we thought the transfer would be okay if it meant we get paid a bit more for the dangerous job it is at an ultra high risk store… nope, putting our lives on the line for £12.71 an hour with unpaid breaks. we’ve had knives pulled out on us, dogs set on us and violent criminals running through the store wielding machetes with the intent of murder. yay.
•whole original asda security team feels disrespected and demoralised, we no longer care about the store and what gets stolen due to the series of slaps in the face from asda and mitie together, we simply just show up to get paid now.
i do not see how this mitie contract will benefit asda in any type of way, oh well, let them find out.
that has been my experience so far, im curious as to how everyone else feels about this whole thing as well so feel free to comment and type away.
