(i think that’s how i say i want to pay someone to draw? (: i’m not sure)

I’m not 100% sure on the process of the whole thing i’ve never done this before, so bear with me.

I’m looking for someone to draw my d2 guardian with her ghost and a weapon.

my budget is low. Nobody would give me anything decent for 15$

all I can offer is 50$ max and im expecting something priceless. id love to see if theres something we can exchange besides/on top of money. Knowledge is priceless, but that doesnt mean I shouldn't pay you, simply that im broke, raising 2 kids by myself, and well knowledge has a deep and enduring value you cant get from anywhere else.

im no artist, thats why im here, but if its too hard to get 9 heads, 18 legs, and 18 arms in one vitruvian man, then refer to David Altmejd. Also refer to him anyways because he doesnt have a centralized figure like my initial idea with the vitruvian man vs what im actually envision. Imagine Pink Floyd. What’s your WORST experience with a client as an artist?? Probably been asked a thousand times before but, honestly, I have a new story to tell every time. It’s so bad I’ve had to add specific changes to my TOS to combat stupid things I never thought I’d have to add lol.

(Please don’t name anyone though! Don’t want this to be a bullying or callout post, just a discussion to share stories!)

I’ve had my fair share of stalkers & obsessive clients, but I’ll start with my most recent:

I got a client wanting artwork for their adult “friend”. After discussion of options, who exactly would be paying kept getting tossed around like a hot potato. When they finally decided what they wanted and that the client would be paying for their friend, the friend wanted borderline nsfw of their character flashing..

I’m a SFW artist but dabble in some more suggestive art sometimes if I’m comfortable with it, it pays enough, and I trust the client, as well as knowing how old they are. It turns out the client was a younger minor, and I declined because I wasn’t comfortable supplying borderline nsfw artwork to someone so much younger than me (I’m 17 for reference). There was a lot of arguing and pushback because “it’s for my friend tho”, and I had to tell them that I can do it if their friend pays and it stays between us because I don’t want young minors involved in this sort of thing. Turns out the adult “friend” was very.. odd towards this client, and the client proceeded to just flat out vent to me about their friend. I did the best I could by staying professional but giving them advice to try and break off from their dangerous friend, and it just went even more downhill from there.

Client’s friend was very frustrated at me for not taking their order (the money was also way under my usual pricing), sh*t talking me in dms and insisting on dming me directly.. great! They were a lot nicer in dms but still pushed back. They explained they couldn’t use PayPal or Kofi but wanted to pay me in.. Robux gift cards ?? For context I USED to take Robux many years ago, but because commissions work is my literal job, I only take money.. they couldn’t fathom this for some reason. Eventually it ended in the friend (TW) Suic*de baiting me. Eventually they came crawling back to my dms but I turned them down again. They’re very active on discord to this day, and are very much alive.. it was for attention and to guilt trip me into giving them free work.

Client now wanted sfw artwork of their own fursona now, but couldn’t pay my usual rates. I was desperate for money at the time so I took it, but my god, this was by far my worst client.. They asked for so many tiny line changes on the SKETCH (they wanted literal sketch lines changed despite me telling them that it’s a sketch..) that I was STILL on the sketch stage an entire WEEK later, asking for changes daily and not letting me move on to lineart because “I need to think about it.” For every other commission I’ve done, the sketch is finished within a day. Eventually I got fed up and realised I was being paid under minimum wage for someone my age so I let them know.. they begged me to not cancel and offered a little more money to make up for it, agreeing with my terms of no more little changes. I took it because I needed the money, and the poor behavior continued. I ended up telling them No to any changes they asked for, as well as giving a deadline on when I’d finish it.. if I didn’t do that, I would’ve worked on this one low paying order for a month for sure.

They also kept asking for the chest size to be bigger. Not even kidding, it got to the point where it was becoming anatomically impossible, and I had to stop them..

The end result was.. awful for my standards, because they wouldn’t let me do anything. It looked like my artwork from 2-3 years ago it was that bad.. if they just let me do my thing it would’ve looked 100x better. They also kept flip flopping between singular LINES it was that bad.. they also did that thing of asking for changes and then going back on them because they didn’t like it.. awful. Thankfully they seemed to be happy with it and said they’d return for another, but no way in hell am I doing that lol. They’re on my black lists so I don’t forget who they are because god, what a hellish week and a half that was.. lost so much sleep stressing over this for such a small amount of money..

I would like to get some character illustrations done. I need an artist who is experienced in drawing black characters and hairstyles (or willing to learn how). Open to style, size, and full/half. budget ~120 usd.

Okay, this is a repost because I guess some were still confused. Looking for an artist who have done acrylic standees before, can draw art for it, ANIME STYLE ONLY (one of the characters im interested in getting a standee for is a make character. Added plus if you are someone who can do dynamic posing with weponds) and can put the art into production through Vograce since its one of the acrylic standees markers that are duty free. This is also just for personal use so budget is 100 USD

 Looking for Background Artist!

I’m looking for a background artist to collaborate on the visual development of my project Occultus.

Backgrounds and environments only.

I am not looking for character design (I will handle that myself)

 Scope of work

Initial visual exploration (thumbnails / simple proposals)

Development and rendering of approx. 6 final styleframes. I will do the character, I will do the integration, I'm just looking for the background, not necessarily super polished.

 Workflow

2–3 quick explorations per scene (sketches / semi-layouts)

Maximum 1 revision before final render, so no, I won't be asking for much changes.

Timeline

 Final project deadline: May 27.

This is not a single final delivery date, but the point where the project is expected to be completed.

Work will be done in stages with constant progress updates.

The exact workflow and timing can be adjusted once I select the artist(s).

I’m not locked into a rigid structure, since I understand that a bit over a month and a half is a tight timeframe for multiple rendered backgrounds.

I’m also looking for someone with real availability starting now.

$215 USD (as of today's fluctuation in mexican peso, but can be more).

Please provide a clear estimate that includes:

The main focus is on the final renders, so explorations do not need to be highly polished—simple sketches that communicate the idea, composition, and layout (based on references, and allowing space for character integration) are enough.

*I am from México, so I will be looking for prices according to my currency.
Due to currency fluctuations, I will be prioritizing payment in MXN (Mexican pesos) or a fixed total project rate agreed in advance.

Open to discussing the best option depending on location, but I’m looking for price stability across the full project (no variable rates per delivery).

 Style / What I’m looking for

For now, I’m looking for a portfolio focused on backgrounds or environments only, preferably something that can align with my drawing style (I’ll include references below).

Details

Since I know about the time and budget, I am not looking for some extra time consuming and hyperpolished. I am actually looking for something more experimental. Hard shadows, concept art-like strokes where maybe some spots are left undefined.

I have these examples: the first one is from a game, but that's the most close example I found. As you can see, the background is quite polished but not that much: some are just almost flat surfaces. As for the next two drawings (the angel) those are my own style, the characters I'd implement in the backgrounds would have that style, so that's why I said I wasn't looking for anything hyper polished.

 Important

Once the work begins, I cannot accommodate dropouts or leaving the project unfinished.

This is a very important project for me. I already had a pipeline in place, but due to external factors, I now need to move faster than expected.

Hello! I'm looking for an artist who has previous experience with book covers OR typography.

The Job, Should You Choose to Accept It:

1. It's a contemporary spy romcom, but it's genre bending--there's action and thriller aspects, so I want the cover to signal both the romantic comedy and the fact that there are some darker themes.

2. I have a specific style/vibe I'm looking for (see inspo photos). While I'm obsessed with the highly detailed fantasy illustrations, I think something along these lines goes best with my book. I provided a bit of a spectrum, so there's some wiggle room for your creativity.

3. It's a somewhat quick turnaround, with the latest I'd need it back to me being mid-May, but ideally I'd get it faster for marketing purposes.

4. It'll be published on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited, but I'm aiming for Barnes and Noble eventually. You'll be credited in the front matter and social media posts!

5. I'm thinking $250-$400 for full wrap and eBook design. The range is because I understand that experience comes with a higher price!
